What Curling Irons Are The Best Ones?

With all of the styling tool options available in todays market, it can be very confusing to choose the best curling iron for your hair. I mean, lets face it; most curling irons claim to be the best buy, but are they really? So, what should you really look for in a curling iron and what should you avoid?

When choosing the best curling iron for your hair, you should discount everything that companies say about their product in order to market it. I mean, they have a vested interest in selling more curling irons, so who would believe what they had to say anyway? But you should pay attention to what is written on the packaging in the small letters.

The first thing that you should look for is a thermostat controlled heat setting. This feature will allow you to select the temperature of the curling iron and set it according to how much heat you need to style your hair. You see, not all hair can withstand the same amount of heat. Some hair types, like fine hair, can only withstand minimal heat while coarse hair may need more intense heat to achieve any curl. So, choosing a curling iron without this setting could result in more damage than is necessary or styles that are hard to achieve and maintain.

Another thing that you should pay attention to is what type of material the barrel is made out of. On most irons, the barrel is made of metal, but you can find irons that are velvet covered and ceramic plated. Velvet covered irons are great for hair that is easily snagged and broken. Ceramic plated irons work to infuse moisture into the hair strands while it is being curled. For the most part, a metal barreled iron will do and these are the least expensive. But if your hair is damaged or dull, you might want to spend a little extra for the ceramic-plated iron.

The first thing to wear out on a curling iron is usually the cord. This is because the cord is put under a lot of pressure at the point where it connects with the curling iron when you move the iron this way and that. To get an iron that lasts, choose an iron with a swivel cord connection. This type of cord will move as you move thus reducing the stress to the inner wires.

So, the next time you choose to buy a curling iron, pay less attention to the brand name and pomp surrounding a particular iron and look for features that you really need.

Ordering Contact Lens Online

Millions of people now prefer wearing contact lenses over spectacles for the numerous benefits they provide. If you are considering shifting from your glasses to a new pair of contact lenses, and want to order your lenses online then you are going about your contact lens purchase intelligently. Online retailers are able to provide the most number of contact lens options and the cheapest rates.
If you are buying contact lenses from the internet then remember the following guidelines on ordering contact lenses online:

1.) Make sure your lens prescription is current
Getting the wrong lenses can cause the same damage to your eyes as not wearing contacts at all. Make sure that you have your current prescription when you place your order online. A legitimate retailer, whether store-based or online, will always check for your prescription. This is done to protect you from buying the wrong type or grade of contact lens. When you order contact lenses with a prescription written for you a few years before, the contact lens you buy may not correct your vision. Make sure to check the expiration of your prescription. Eye doctors indicate when you need to have your prescription changed usually after a full year.

2.) Compare lenses and compare prices from the hundreds of online retailers.
Make sure that when you compare the prices, you are comparing the same type of lenses. There are numerous options available from hard lenses to soft lenses, color lenses to corrective lenses. Make sure you are comparing the exact same brands and the exact same types. You can also check websites for contact lens coupons that you can use to further reduce the price of the lens.

3.) Make sure you input the right information on your order form
This is pretty standard for ordering any kind of item from the internet. Always double check your order before you submit the order form. Make sure all prices are correct and already include all shipping charges, taxes and others. Also, make sure all information regarding your prescription is typed in correctly so that you dont end up with the wrong lenses. If you have the right prescription but dont key it in correctly, then you still wont get the right lenses for your eye condition.

4.) Go for regular eye exams
Even after you have ordered your lenses and feel confident about it, make sure to go for regular eye exams. This is so you can monitor the changes in your eye condition and for the doctor to be able to make the necessary changes in your prescription and also to make sure you are not suffering from any eye infections.

5.) Go only for legitimate online retailers
Legitimate retailers can provide you with great discounts and offers. They also have promos, contact lens coupons and other amazing offers. When you compare lens and compare prices, you shouldnt always go for the cheapest. You must make sure you get the best value for your money. When an online retailer accepts your order without a prescription then you must look for another distributor that is more professional and who cares not just about your money but also your well-being.

Ordering online is the most convenient choice for getting contact lenses. You can get affordable lenses for your prescription. Just make sure to follow these guidelines and you should enjoy the health benefits of prescription contacts.

Anti-Aging Rule: Choose Your Friends Carefully

My mother always reminded her kids that people judge you by the company you keep. The admonition was meant primarily for my brother who tended to prefer the company of neighborhood rowdies the kids who ran around with their shirttail hanging out, their knickers not pulled up, their hair uncombed, and used inappropriate language like gosh and gee whiz. (Yes, yes, I know. But that was back in the Dark Ages.)

She was right people do judge you by people with whom you associate. But in our contemporary culture, few people are concerned about the judgment of others. However, if you are at midlife, and you want to retain youthful characteristics and vibrant good health, the company you keep is very important for a reason rarely discussed.

And that reason is this: We develop old thinking and behaviors from observation and emulation of old or older people we associate with most frequently. They could be family members, close friends, neighbors, or co-workers. And lets not forget the influence of archaic conventional wisdom and consensus thinking. Oldness is insidious and viral. You really have to watch what you allow into your head and adopt as your own.

Does someone in your family insist on being catered to not because of an infirmity but because Ive done for others all of my life, and now its time for others to do for me? Grandma did it, so you do it, too. We should do for our elders, but not when elders are perfectly capable of caring for themselves. Its unkind and unwise to encourage dependence. If entitlement or other "old age" behavior causes unhappiness in your family, it can stop with you.

Aside from family life, one of the best places to catch the oldness virus is in retirement communities or any living situation where you are in contact primarily with people your own age.

Retirement communities, for the most part, are beautiful. They are quiet, well maintained and many offer amenities that can keep you going nonstop: Trips, classes, social and sports events, state of the art exercise equipment, music, arts, crafts, tennis, swimming, theater -- you name it. What more could you want if you are over 50?

What you should want, and must want, if you are determined to Put Old on Hold is regular association with people of ALL ages and circumstances. If you are at midlife (50-55), healthy, and choose to buy into a retirement community, think about the environment you will be in for a very long time.

In a new community that stresses active lifestyles, there will probably be many residents about your age. But what happens as time goes on? Assuming the community remains stable, there probably wont be too many younger people moving in over the years. You may consider that a bonus, but remember this: Over time, your closest friends and acquaintances will likely be those within the community, especially if your lifestyle becomes more settled. This is something to consider ahead of time.

The life span has increased by 27 years in the past century. Those bonus years represent a long time to live in a situation where predominant topics of conversation, eventually, will be about aches, pains, which neighbor is in the hospital or who died last week, and which widower is up for grabs, and what his favorite casserole is. The reality is this: If you are at midlife and you choose to segregate yourself in a seniors-only environment, the oldness virus will get you sooner than later.

Young people, as irritating as they often can be, can also be open, patient, kind, understanding and tolerant. For me, one of the joys of working is the opportunity to interact with young people. On more than one occasion, their presence has helped me lighten up on impatience and crankiness. You cannot pay for that kind of therapy!

Exposure to young people is essential if you want to broaden your worldview and stay current with what is happening beyond your world and circle of friends. You may not approve of what you see and hear but it does help you cope with reality something that older people often have a hard time dealing with.

Deliberately put yourself where younger people are. Take or teach classes at the local community college. Join organizations that do not segregate by age, i.e. seniors-only or boomers-only groups. Volunteer to mentor teens who could benefit from your wisdom and experience.

Indeed, if you have a choice, choose your friends, associates and living environment carefully as you age. They can and do affect how well you age and the quality of your life.

Cosmetic Dentistry - Latest Techniques Explained

Cosmetic dentistry describes a set of techniques and procedures used to enhance a persons teeth, smile and ultimately confidence. It is widely acknowledged that the smilemakeover that results can significantly improve a persons appearance leading to a more positive lifestyle, both socially and in the work environment.

A cosmetic dentist can use numerous techniques, solely or in combination to dramatically improve the teeth, gums and smile. These procedures range from simple tooth whitening to complex multiple tooth implants and full mouth reconstruction. No longer is the dental art confined to simple fillings and extractions!

The following are the main cosmetic dentistry techniques used today:

Tooth Whitening:

considered to be one of the most accessible and affordable techniques, tooth whitening (or bleaching) comes in a variety of different forms. Typically this procedure involves the use of a special laser or halogen lamp and/or application of a bleaching gel of varying strengths. Several branded treatments are available including the popular Biolase, Zoom and Britesmile.

Optimal results can be achieved quite quickly and the technique is near painless, non-invasive and cost effective. Tooth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dental procedure available today.

Dental Implants:

a more complex procedure, dental implants involve implanting a titanium (or similar) rod into the jawbone to act as a stable base for an artificial tooth or to provide support for bridges, crowns or dentures. Titanium is usually used as the anchor rod because it integrates well with the surrounding bone and tissue with only very minor risk of rejection. Full mouth reconstructions often employ multiple tooth implants in conjunction with other techniques e.g. bonding.

Dental implants can last fifteen years or more but are quite an expensive option at up to $2500 per tooth. Dental implantology is also a highly specialised technique so care must be taken to choose a competent, fully qualified practitioner.

Dental Veneers:

a dental veneer is a thin covering or shell designed to fit the outside of the original tooth to mask shape, colour and positional problems and defects. Part of the original tooth exterior is usually removed to make way for the new veneer so the technique is partially invasive. Following initial measuring and preparation of the tooth surface the veneer is glued into place. Veneers are usually made from porcelain, ceramic or composite materials and more recently have been made more hard-wearing than earlier versions.

The veneering procedure is usually done over two visits to the dentist with temporary veneers being fitted between visits. Veneering is often chosen as the treatment of choice by acting professionals and those in the media spotlight as dramatic results can be achieved quite quickly and cost effectively.

Dental Crowns:

crowns are protective covers, made from porcelain or ceramic which fit over the existing tooth to mask defects e.g. cracks and discolouration. Initially the tooth is shaped to receive the crown with the patient under local anaesthetic. An impression of the tooth is then taken and used by the dental laboratory to create the colour-matched crown. During the manufacturing process, the patient will be fitted with temporary crowns, typically for around two to three weeks. On the second visit to the dentist, the crowns are bonded into place.

Crowns are a semi-permanent solution but can be quite expensive, often exceeding $750 per tooth. A good cosmetic dentist will be able to fit crowns which are nearly indistinguishable from existing teeth and used in conjunction with other techniques e.g. implants, form the foundation for full mouth reconstructions.

Dental Bridges:

where a tooth has been lost, a dental bridge can be used to bridge the gap between the two remaining adjacent teeth. A bespoke structure is formed in the dental laboratory incorporating a hollow crown to support the missing tooth. This bridge structure is then bonded to the adjacent teeth, neatly filling the gap form where the original tooth was lost. Similarly to crowns and veneers, the replacement bridge tooth will be colour matched to the rest of the teeth.

Bridging is popular because it is usually a permanent solution and is less invasive than implantology. It is also less bulky than an equivalent denture.

Dental Orthodontics:

this is a specialised branch of dentistry that deals with moving or realigning teeth to improve appearance. This usually involves the wearing of an appliance or brace which gently applies pressure to the teeth to move them to the correct position. Orthodontics is often performed in the teenage years as the mouth and jaw develops but more adults are choosing this option to realign their teeth however the process can take longer for an adult.

The initial phase of the orthodontics process involves a detailed examination of the mouth to assess the repositioning needed and any other associated medical factors. Following this, a decision will be made as to which of the many types of brace material and configuration to use. Some braces are removable and some fixed in place for a period of months the cosmetic dentist will assess which is the best form to use for the treatment to be carried out.

More recently, new invisible braces have been developed e.g. Invisalign which perform the same job as more traditional braces but are less invasive and more comfortable to wear.

The results of orthodontics are usually permanent but the process can be quite expensive due to the multiple consultations and reviews with the cosmetic dentist. Additionally, patience is required as the process can be lengthy!

Some recent dental survey findings:

- 74% of people believe they have unsightly teeth
- 68% of people are embarrassed about their smile in photographs
- 45% of people make judgements about others by the look of their smile
- 70% of people think an attractive smile helps romantically

The techniques detailed above can create the perfect smilemakeover and go a long way to adddressing these concerns. No longer is the art of dentistry confined to fillings and extractions!

Acupressure For The Face

In the last twenty years, alternative medicine from Asia has become popular. Acupressure for the face is a new approach that has come on the scene and is worth discussing.

Acupressure For The Face

Time takes a toll on our bodies, particularly our faces. There is just no hiding the damage of the sun, wrinkles and so on. Many people look to surgical lifts for a solution. Others, however, are nervous about the invasive nature of the surgery, possible side effects or the cost. A possible alternative for those not needing intensive repair is acupressure.

The results that you will get from an acupressure session are not going to be as dramatic or long lasting as those from traditional surgical options. Acupressure procedures are meant to be a holistic, massage-oriented alternative to having surgery, but are not to be considered on the same level. Acupressure is an ancient Chinese art of applying pressure to specific points on your body. This is believed to allow more blood and energy flow to the area that is pressed, which can correspond to other areas of the body. The results of acupressure have been seen for centuries by those practicing this craft.

Facial acupressure takes advantage of pressing these points on the face, and therefore allowing additional blood and oxygen to flow to these areas. This tightens the areas that are being massaged and pressed, leaving the client with a relaxed, youthful look. The facial area is massaged and stimulated with light pressure, which not only improves the facial circulation, but also helps to clean the facial lymph system. This technique also stimulates the underlying collagen of the face, which allows it to loosen and possibly regenerate faster, making the youthful look you get from the acupressure last.

Having an acupressure facial is not considered a medical procedure, but it is a certified practice by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. It is considered to be more intensive than a traditional facial which is commonly performed by a cosmetician. Some massage therapists will recommend more than one acupressure session to achieve full results, and you will want to consult with your therapist for the best course of action for your face.

Facial procedures are more and more common these days, but there are non-surgical options if you are not ready for the knife just yet. An acupressure session can give you a more youthful glow without surgery or any side effects. You also get the bonus of the relaxing technique of acupressure. It is a great compromise for those who need just a little help in the facial aging department.

Day Spas Facts

A day spa is business that offers a number of personal care services to their customers. Some of these services include facials or massages. Unlike destination spas, people are only expected to stay at day spas until their treatment is complete. Waxing is another common service that is offered, and the body hair of the customers will removed by using warm wax. A day spa should be a place which is clean and comfortable. Each customer will have their own private room where they will receive treatments. If the customer wants to take a shower before their treatment begins, there are often showering facilities which will be available for men and women.

A high quality day spa will typically be operated by an esthetician who is licensed to work in the field. A day spa will also employ trained therapists who are skilled with massages or other products. Spa robes and shoes should be available in sizes that will match most clients. The massages that are available will fall under multiple categories, and some of these are Swedish, Deep Muscle, or Shiatsu. In addition to waxing, the facility should also have heat treatments, laser hair removal, or hand and foot treatments. As the name implies day spas will often have a hot tub or sauna. Some customers will be able to hire a personal trainer, and many establishments feature yoga as well.

A day spa is an excellent place for those who are looking to reduce stress. The workers in the day spa should give a warm welcome to their clients, and if you are new, they will explain to you the different procedures they use. Once they have explained the procedures, you will be taken to your private room where you can dress in a robe. Drinks may often be served in the form of water or juices. If you are a guest, you are expected to be on time for your appointment. If you are paying for body services, you will need to dress in a robe, and your therapist will expose the areas that will be treated. The goal of your therapist is to provide you with the treatments you need.

As you are treated, you will want to provide feedback to therapist on how you feel. The most important thing for you to do is relax. Let the therapist do the work, though you may talk to them if you wish. If you have children, it is best to leave them at home, because they can disrupt the quiet atmosphere and disturb other customers. Some day spas will require gratuities, while others will not. It is important to have this information available before you make an appointment. There are a number of behaviors which will not be tolerated at most day spas. A visitor who is drunk will be promptly removed from the facility. Customers are not supposed to be abusive to the therapists. It is also not acceptable to visit most spas without first making appointments, as many of them may be booked on any given day.

Aerobic Videos - Whips You Up Into Shape!

I have been using aerobic workout videos for about a year now, and let me tell you if you have the right setup and the right attitude, they work every bit as well as an actual aerobics class with an expensive personal trainer. Although many people buy aerobic videos, and then leave them sitting there, gathering dust, and never do anything with them, many others use them to embark on a healthier, more successful life. What is the difference? Why do aerobic videos work wonders for some people, but fare horribly for others? Allow me to explain.

You see, the reason is not the aerobics videos at all, but the person watching them. The first and most important thing is attitude. Now, we have all heard that before but I will have to emphasize it again: attitude is everything. The right attitude towards exercise will enable you to find joys in hours of sweat which could otherwise make you give up for the tempting leisures of a potato-couch instead. The right attitude is essential to your success. Right from the onset, you need to set realistic and achievable goals and a constant schedule of exercise that will help you approach your goals. That is no easy task, I know. And nobody or nothing can help you. Motivation can not come from the aerobic videos it has to come from within.

The most important thing is that you exercise regularly. Doing each aerobic video twice every third Sunday won't cut it. Even if you never make it all the way through your aerobic videos at first, you have to be using them every day or you will not get the maximum results from them you will barely get any results at all, truth be told. Set reasonable goals and stick with them. It is no good telling yourself that you will do a two hour workout with your aerobic videos every day, and then failing right away. Set little goals, ones you know that you can succeed at, to build confidence.

Equally important is to have a good space to do your aerobics workout. If you live in a tiny one room apartment with clothing spread all over the floor, forget it. You can use some aerobic videos with less space than you might think, but if you don't at least clear a little room to move around in, you will never reach any of your exercise goals, and that is a terrible excuse. The beginning of your aerobic workout is really setting a time, clearing out a space, and psyching yourself up. Don't expect immediate success from using your aerobic videos. It will be very hard work and you might feel like giving up at times. But if you persevere, within a month you will notice major changes.

TANNING BEDS SAFE OR UNSAFE?

TANNING BEDS SAFE OR UNSAFE?

Theres a lot of controversy surrounding tanning beds these days. Are
they truly safe or not safe is the question that everyone wants answered. Do tanning beds contribute to the factors that cause skin cancers and lots of other types of cancers? There are a lot of questions - and surprisingly few good answers.

What I have been able to establish from research and what all of the skin and health experts have to say on the subject is that tanning beds are safer than tanning outside in the sun, the main factor is that ten minutes in a tanning bed will give you the same result as being out in the sun for three hours - as far as tanning goes - without the three hours of damage and burn that the sunshine would cause to your skin.

There are two different types of tanning beds - the kind that you laying down, and the newer standing-up tanning bed, which gives you a much better result and even tan. Tanning bed costs vary a lot, and can even be purchased for as little as $250 for smaller, lower quality beds.
The larger and better quality beds can run up to 5000 dollars or even more.

But are they safe? Yes and no. If used as directed, they are relatively safe and there will be no need t o worry. You must wear eye protection glasses to protect your eyes from the ultra violet rays, and you must also use the tanning lotions that are specifically designed for indoor tanning. Failure to take these precautions can -and will - result in retina damage, a higher probability of skin cancer or other skin related diseases, early wrinkles, and even sunburn.

It is also important to start off slow when you first start using a tanning bed. Start by using the lowest settings, with the minimum amount of time spent in the tanning bed, and get your tan in a gradual way. The lower the settings are, and the less time you spend in the tanning bed, the healthier your skin will be.

This is a good reason to own your own tanning beds, instead of using the ones at tanning salons. The number of trips you will need to make to your local salon, and the number of sessions that you will need to pay for to get the tan that you really want can add up. In fact, it can even end up costing more than what it would cost to buy your own new tanning bed. When looking at this expense, tanners are also tempted to speed up the process which usually results in damaged and unhealthy skin.

Perfect Tan, Not!

A glossy golden brown tan to set off toned limbs - that's the stuff which the young fashion-conscious dreams are made of. The pursuit of that bronzed, sun-kissed look has led to an influx of sun worshippers in bikinis, board shorts, and bare chests congregating at the beaches. But just how much do they know about the dangers associated with excessive sun exposure?

A lot of youths are adventurous, fun loving and are passionate about sports. This may just cause them to overlook the necessity of proper sun protection. While many outdoor sports like soccer, wakeboarding, windsurfing etc are undoubtedly beneficial to health, the risks of excessive sun exposure to the participants are also very real.

Sun Damage

The sun emits 3 types of ultraviolet (UV) rays: UVA, UVB and UVC. Only UVA and UVB rays reach the earth's surface because UVC is filtered out by the ozone layer.

UVA penetrates deeply into the skin and triggers the production of melanin, which is a pigment in our body that causes skin to tan. UVB primarily affects the skin's outer layer and causes sunburn. UV rays are thought to be responsible for chronic photo-aging (cluster of skin conditions like hyper pigmentation, wrinkles and sagging skin), and skin cancer.

Sunburn is one of the short-term damages of sun exposure. It ranges from redness and pain to redness and swelling, and in some serious cases, blisters can occur.

Frequent sunburns have been associated with increased risks of getting skin cancers. There are 3 common types of skin cancers: squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and malignant melanoma.

Most SCC and BCC cases are caused by chronic exposure to sunlight. These tumors appear most commonly on sun-exposed areas like the face, hands, back, shoulders and lower lip. SCC tumors are irregular and fleshy growths that can enlarge and break down into ulcers.

BCC tumors are often shiny and pigmented, with raised borders. The Skin Cancer Foundation (SCF) in New York, USA, estimates that some 800,000 and 200,000 Americans suffer from BCC and SCC annually respectively.

Malignant melanoma is cancer of the skin's pigment cells. It may form in pre-existing moles, where pigmentation is heavily concentrated. The tumors are presented as large, thick and colored (red, blue or black) patches that grow rapidly, with irregular outlines. The SCF estimates that about 51,000 new cases of malignant melanoma are reported annually in the USA.

On a less fatal note, exposure to bright light can also trigger migraines and headaches, for up to 24 hours. Melasma is another UV-related skin disorder characterized by symmetrical brown pigmentation patches in UV-exposed areas and affects women 90% of the time.

Block Out the Sun

Much as knowledge of sun exposure dangers is important, knowing how to minimize risks is even more essential. Techniques to minimize damage from sun rays can be divided into those to do with behavior and those to do with fabrics.

Behavior wise, sun-lovers can refrain from carrying out high-risk activities between 10am and 4pm, when the sun's rays are the strongest. On a general note, try to keep in the shade while going about normal activities.

Fabrics that are sun-protective have tight weaves and are dark-colored. To test for a tight weave, hold the garment about 7 inches from your eyes towards a light source. If visible light can penetrate holes between the threads, so can UV rays. Dark colors absorb harmful UV rays better than light-colored clothes and hence protect the skin better.

To protect the face, sunscreen is essential, preferably one with at least Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 20. Reliable brands include Sunkiller, La Roche-Posay and Coppertone. If sun exposure time is expected to be long, then a sunscreen of higher SPF of 45 or 60 is recommended. One often-neglected directive is to reapply sunscreen frequently throughout the day, as sweat or friction may have washed it away. For the eyes, sunglasses with UV-protective coating are advised.

Alternative Tones

Fashion-conscious youths who covet a tan but are afraid of increasing their skin cancer risks have started to frequent tanning salons. This misguided attempt only reduces the incidence of sunburn and not skin cancer, warns Dr Wong, an associate consultant dermatologist with the National Skin Centre of Singapore.

"In fact, by going to tanning salons, you are exposed to unnecessary excessive UVA, which may increase your risk of getting skin cancer as it is primarily UVA-mediated."

One relatively harmless alternative to sun tanning is to use self-tanning lotions. These contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which reacts with proteins in dead skin cells on the skin surface to result in brown pigmentation, which becomes the tan. While self-tanning lotions, like other topical products, have been known to cause skin irritation, no adverse long-term effects have been recorded.

As we welcome the warm, sunny weather, do keep in mind the relevant risks and precautions. Being cautious when young may just save you lots of heartache and pain in later years.

Skin Care - Non-Surgical Treatment With Tretinoin

Topical tretinoin can be effectively used for treatment of mild sun damage and fine wrinkles and lines for skin care.Tretinoin is easy to use as a non surgical method to get a youthful look. The skin care treatment has to be continued otherwise the benefits disappear. After some time of treatment, your doctor may reduce the dose of tretinoin to be used for giving you the young look. Tretinoin is generally used for face because face is the most exposed part of the body and acne, rashes sun damage etc. are more apparent on the face. Let us find out more about how tretinoin helps us non-surgically in skin care.

What is tretinoin- it is a form of retinoid that is derived from Vitamin A. It is also very popular in treatment of acne. Generally tretinoin is recommended for use by older patients who have fine wrinkles and sun damaged skin and spots. It is also used for younger people, who want to maintain a youthful look. Tretinoin may also be used as a preparation for further treatments such as chemical peeling. Use of tretinoin thins the skin and this prepares skin for better absorption of chemicals in peeling treatment.

For best skin care, your doctor may prescribe tretinoin for use every day at nighttime for about a year. After that this interval may be increased to once every two to three days. As tretinoin produces dryness, you may need to use a moisturizer twice a day. You may also need to adopt better protection from sun because tretinoin makes the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. If tretinoin is properly used, it can help reduce fine wrinkles, reduce age spots and also help you maintain a young look. It is a boon for those who are very careful about skin care.

You can also practice variations of the ponytail and add interest to your medium hair style by changing the amount of hair that you pull through your scrunchie.

"Funky and textured. Probably the most popular medium hair styles of today feature a lot of textured, creative cutting techniques. By using a combination of scissors and razor, your stylist can turn your medium hair style into a fashion statement complete with wispy layers and interesting movement.

"Cute and curled. This medium hair style is extremely easy to accomplish if you have natural curl or a perm adding texture to your medium hair style. If not, you can easily add interest to your medium hair style with hot rollers, tube rollers or a curling iron. Simply, roll your medium hair style, spritz it a little, take it down, run your fingers through your medium length hair style, spray and go.

"Captivating color. The medium hair style is perhaps the perfect length of hair in which to try funky and fresh color techniques. From chunky highlights to ink-dipped tips, make your medium hair style stand out from the rest with interesting color.

As you can see, there are numerous things that you can do to make your medium hair style stand out among your peers. While others are stuck pulling their long tresses up or styling their short locks the same old way, you can quickly change your medium hair style to reflect your mood or the occasion. And the beauty of the medium hair style is that almost everything you do will be quick and easy.

Bright Ideas About Skin

People may wish for a "healthy tan" but exposure to ultraviolet light damages skin cells' genetic material and can contribute to skin cancer formation, not to mention lines and wrinkles. Here are some rules to live by when it comes to the sun and your skin.

• Remember, sun damage is cumulative. Exposure to ultraviolet light during childhood will increase the risk of developing skin cancer in later years. It's never too late to begin using sunscreen, however, to inhibit further sun damage and not just for a day at the beach. Daily exposure adds up. It is important to use daily products with SPF for your hands and face and any other exposed skin. Don't forget your lips. They burn just as quickly, so opt for a lip balm such as Beyond Belief Lip Balm with SPF 15.

• Get enough protection. SPF stands for "sun protection factor" and ranges from a base of two to a maximum of 50, providing the strongest protection. The sun protection factor helps you determine how long the sunscreen will protect your skin. In general, if your skin is fair, you will burn more quickly than if your skin is olive or dark. To determine how long you can stay outdoors without burning, take the number of minutes it takes your unprotected skin to start turning red, then multiply it by the SPF factor. For example, if your unprotected skin begins to redden in 10 minutes, an SPF of 15 will give you 150 minutes of sun protection.

• Ensure constant protection. Reapply sunscreen after swimming or other physical activity and at regular intervals to be sure that perspiration doesn't leave you unprotected. Remember that reapplying sunscreen does not make it safer to stay in the sun longer; it just re-establishes the protection you have already applied.

• Protect sensitive skin. It's not okay to go without, so start looking at the ingredients. You may be allergic to PABA, an effective sunscreen ingredient. Look for a PABA-free sunscreen. Additionally, if you are allergic to hair dyes, avoid sunscreens containing PABA.

• Don't forget your hands. Keep a hand lotion with SPF in your glove compartment. Your hands get a lot of sun when you drive and remembering to apply some sort of SPF when you're on the road will keep them younger looking. BioLink Daily SPF Moisturizer is a good choice.

The problem with cheap sunglasses

Cheap sunglasses are everywhere. They are a popular free gift from companies that want to appear trendy, and they are on sale at every shop anywhere near a beach, as well as anywhere else that people often go in summer (theme parks, for example). But you should be very, very cautious of cheap sunglasses, because even though it feels like theyre helping to keep the sun out of your eyes, they can actually do more harm than good.

The problem is that cheap sunglasses dont protect against ultraviolet rays, the rays that can cause problems like eye cancer and cataracts. Instead, they fool your eyes into thinking that its dark when its actually not, which causes the pupils of your eyes to widen, letting in far more UV rays than they normally would. This massively increases the amount of damage that the sun can do to your eyes. While you might be happy to use them to keep the sun from dazzling you, if you do it often you may be significantly damaging your health. If you have a pair of cheap sunglasses or youre given one for free the best thing to do, all things considered, is to throw them in the bin.

Of course, the opposite of cheap sunglasses isnt necessarily expensive ones. The sunglasses you want are ones that offer 100% protection from UV rays, but these can actually be very reasonably priced and as long as you keep track of where you put them at the end of the summer, they can last you for decades to come, which makes them even better value. You should look for some kind of official certification that the sunglasses have passed tests both for UVA and UVB screening, and only buy from a shop that you trust, preferably an established pharmacist.

Anti Aging Facial Skin Care

If youre serious about anti-aging facial skin care, you owe it to yourself to investigate all the alternatives. While cosmetics might seem to be the logical solution, over time their cost might prove prohibitive. Botox injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion can give superior (and more immediate) results that often justify the additional cost.

Botox injections relax the muscles that create wrinkles like the frown lines on your forehead. The treatment lasts three to six months, and lines and wrinkles either disappear or dramatically diminish during this period. Besides frown lines, Botox is effective on crows feet, laugh lines and forehead wrinkles. A medical doctor must administer Botox injections. After several treatments, some doctors report that the period of effectiveness is extended.

Chemical peels are meant to improve skin appearance and diminish wrinkles by removing one or more of the skins outer layers. Like Botox, chemical peels are done by a medical doctor and usually consist of phenol, TCAs (trichloroacetic acids) or AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids). Phenol is the strongest of the chemical peel agents and provides the most dramatic results. TCAs are the next strongest, but several treatments are usually required. AHAs are the least strong and are generally used for skin brightening and smoothing, rather than wrinkle removal. Phenol and TCAs will remove wrinkles and blemishes, and even out skin tone.

Microdermabrasion does not require a medical doctor. It can be performed by a trained aesthetician. In this procedure, tiny crystals are sprayed against the face with a device similar to a sand blaster, producing a gentle polishing action that removes the dead outer layer of skin on the face. Microdermabrasion is less harsh than chemical peels and works well for women with sensitive skin. Treatments must be repeated for maximum effectiveness.

While not for everyone, Botox injections, chemical peels and microdermabrasion are all valid methods of anti-aging facial skin care. If you want fast results and are willing to spend the money, these treatments can provide significant improvements in skin texture and appearance.

Beauty Problem - Skin Tags

As we grow older skin starts coming out with different growths and spots. Skin tags are one such product of ageing. The exact cause of skin tags is not known. They are also known as Acrochordons. Skin tags look like small growths hanging with a stalk. These fleshy bumps are ugly in appearance and cause lot of mental discomfort compared to physical.

Skin tags appear at different places o the body. The common areas are necklines, below the breasts, underarms, groin etc. Skin tags may appear in different sizes. Small tags appear in a bunch, while large tags appear alone. They normally form in cluster of small tags of about a mm to big ones measuring up to a cm.

Consult your doctor about removal of skin tags. Your doctor will remove them with a suitable method that may be either of these four- surgically cutting them, by freezing them, by electro surgery or by tying a suture around the stalk. The choice of removal method depends upon the location and the size of tag and the stalk. The tag removal normally does not lead to any scar formation. The healing is over in a day or two. Please consult your doctor for more details.

A Pursuit For The Nose

Take note, when you buy a perfume bottle most of the cost goes to the packaging, advertising, sales profit and tax. Only a small percentage, actually around ten percent, is dedicated to the costs of the scents.

So why buy when you can make your own perfume. Not only will you be able to save some money but you'll get a blast from the pursuit of the perfect perfume.

One of the greatest advantages of making your own perfume is that you don't have to worry about having chemicals and preservatives going onto your skin. Since you're more likely going to work with natural, you don't have to worry about the possible effects of synthetic materials on your body.

However, care should still be taken when using various essential oils. Some people might still have particular allergenic reactions to specific types of oils. It is therefore important to know or be familiar with your own body chemistry first before trying experimenting with blending perfumes.

First, let's differentiate between the various types of perfumes. Basically, a perfume is a mixture of aromatic compounds and diluted in alcohol and water. The amounts of aromatic oils dissolve in a blend determine if it can be called a perfume or a cologne. Arranged from highest concentration of oils to lowest the sequence would be: perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, eau de cologne and body splash.

When we say perfume, the blend of aromatic oils is from 25 to 40%. Eau du parfum, meanwhile, are 15-30% aromatics. Eau du Cologne has even lighter aromatic oil contents. This type of scent usually has around 5-15% aromatic compounds. Toilet water or sometimes referred to as body splash has only 3-5% aromatics. Body splash are ideally used after you take a bath or shower.

When you make your own perfume, you get to choose which solvent you would use to dilute the blend. Available at your disposal are either jojoba or alcohol. Both have distinct differences and benefits. Jojoba is great for perfume blends because it never turns rancid.

When you have created your own perfume blend, it is best that you use the perfume only on your pulse points. Anywhere more and you might overdo the scent. For diluting the blend the traditional way, you use grain alcohol or a high grade proof of vodka. Alcohol makes the blend more volatile. The problem with alcohol is that you have to let the perfume blend evolve. If you don't the scent will smell more like an alcohol rather than a perfume. Usual proportions of alcohol and perfume blend is about three or four ml of the blend combined with five or 10 drops of alcohol.

Making your own perfume should be fun. Don't delve too much on the technicality of blending perfumes. Explore and try to make combinations that are unheard off. You never know, the resulting blend might be perfect to your body chemistry.

Scents and fragrances react differently when applied to your body. Choosing one that fits you is like choosing the right color of dress or the right pair of shoes to wear. Perfumes cannot just be worn arbitrarily. The resulting scent might be catastrophic. That's why you need to experiment more when making your own perfume. Try various combinations of scents until you find the perfect one for you.

Home Treatments for Stretch Marks

STRETCH MARKS

Stretch marks (striae) are relatively common, even in males. It is not completely understood how they form, but there are several theories. One is that stretch marks form simply when the skin is stretched to the point of breaking and a scar is formed. Another interesting theory is that stretch marks are caused by an increased level of glucocorticoids (cortisol). Glucocorticoids prevent connective tissues from forming the collagen and elastin fibers need to keep the skin tight, and dermal layer then tears. Some people may be more genetically prone to stretch marks than others. Skin type may be a factor; dryer skin has less elasticity than oily skin, and is more prone to stretch marks.

TREATING STRETCH MARKS

There are several extra steps you can take for the reduction of your stretch marks. Consider your skin care regimen, and fine-tune it to meet the needs of skin that is damaged, requires cellular repair and the stimulation of collagen and elastin production.

Nutrition: An adequate amount of water, vitamins E, C, selenium, and alpha lipoic acid, as well as enough monounsaturated fats (olive oil) and gamma lineolic acid (borage oil) are vital for keeping your skin strong and healthy and able to repair itself.

The basic treatment for the reduction of the appearance of scars is to regularly 1) remove the overgrown scar tissue with brisk exfoliation and then 2) encourage the regrowth of normal tissues with use of nutrients and conditioners.

If stretch marks have formed because of weight gain, reducing bodyfat stores (losing weight) can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks by releasing pressure from the skin.

Exfoliation: Stretch marks are similar to scars, there can be either a build up of scar tissue, which results in a raised stretch mark, or tearing and obvious depressions in the skin. Stretch marks respond well to vigorous exfoliation with both mechanical and chemical means. Your goal is to break down the malformed collagen and have it slough off, while new, properly constructed collagen and skin cells are formed below. You may wish to perform at least a light exfoliation on the stretch marks on a daily basis. You can use a massage tool to improve the breakdown of scar tissues. Applying alpha hydroxy peel products, such as retinol, glycolic or lactic acid, has shown to be effective for the improvement of stretch marks.

Protection: After exfoliating, apply antioxidant formulas with A, E, C, and alpha lipoic acids to protect the new skin cells from damage. If skin is to be exposed to the sun, apply a sunscreen to prevent further breakdown of newly formed skin cells.

Moisturizer: After exfoliating skin and applying antioxidants, moisturize the area thoroughly. If you are prone to stretch marks, remember to moisturize your body skin daily to avoid developing more stretch marks with weight changes. Aloe Vera should be used to improve skin microcirculation, followed by a layer of lipid-based cream or lotion.

Other Treatments:

 Sleep: Get plenty of sleep to help your skin regenerate.

 Milk Bath: You can soak your entire body with softening lactic acid by adding a cup or two of skin milk powder to your bath and soaking for 15 to 20 minutes several times a week. For extra enjoyment, add a few drops of your favorite scent to the bath. Rinse the milk bath off under the shower, but do not use soap. If you’re sweaty or dirty, take a quick shower with a mild soap before your milk bath. Moisturize your body skin thoroughly afterwards.

 You can prepare your own tinctures and creams, or look for commercial products that contain ingredients known to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

The following nutrients may be helpful in the treatment of stretch marks:

Natural Internal Treatments for Stretch Marks

Vitamin C
Borage Oil
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Copper
CoQ10
Flax Seed Oil
Horsetail
MSM
Palm Oil

Natural External Treatments for Stretch Marks

Natural Exfoliation Agents
Apricot kernal scrub
Bromelain
Dead Sea Salts
Dessicated Milk Powder (lactic acid)
Papain
Rolled Oats
Sea Salt
Brown Sugar (glycolic acid)
White Willow Bark, ground (salicylic acid)
Vitamin A Oil

Natural External Rejuvenation Agents
Almond Oil
Aloe Vera Gel
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Borage Oil
Boxthorn herb
Bergamot
Sea Buchthorn
Clary Sage
Grape Seed Extract
Comfrey Herb
Safflower Oil
Rosemary Herb
Coconut Oil
Sunflower & Safflower Oil
Vitamin E & Vitamin A oil
Squalene Oil

Remember that the reduction of stretch marks is a two step process. First, the malformed collagen cells must be broken down by mechanical or chemical means. Secondly the new underlying skin layers must be encouraged to grow properly and with proper nutrition and hydration.

With a little diligent effort, the appearance of stretch marks can be reduced and improved.

The Three Teeth Whitening Techniques

A great smile can prove to be a valuable asset, particularly when you first meet someone. However, people who have brown or yellow stained teeth are very conscious of this shortcoming. It may also cause social insecurity. One of the best treatment methods available to gain back that white perfect smile is teeth whitening. The basic methodology of teeth whitening is that it reverses the process of discoloration of teeth, bleaching them to reveal the white enamel again.

Teeth generally darken over a period of time. This may be due to consumption of caffeine-containing drinks (like tea, coffee and cola) or tobacco products. Also, excessive fluoride production and use of antibiotic medication can also lead to teeth discoloration. However, the biggest factor contributing to the loss of whiteness is age. Teeth whitening, to counter the process of discoloration, is one of the safest and the most popular procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Studies indicate that almost 96% of the people who undergo this treatment experience visible benefits.

There are three options available to those considering this procedure you can either undergo professional bleaching, try home bleaching or use whitening toothpastes. Of the three listed, the quickest and the most effective is professional bleaching. It is also referred to as In-Office or Chair-side bleaching. It usually requires two or more visits to a dentist. However, the effects are much long lasting than any other procedure. The dentist will apply a bleaching agent to your teeth. The gums, however, are not harmed. The most common mouth guard is a gel or rubber shield. After the dentist has carefully applied the bleaching agent to your teeth, he might want to use additional heat or light procedures to make the agent work faster. A usual treatment sitting might last from 30 minutes to an hour.

The second option that is available to you is that of home bleaching. You can buy a kit from any certified pharmacist or dentist. This kit would usually contain a hydrogen peroxide based bleaching gel or solution. This is meant to be applied to the tooth enamel. As a rule, a mouth guard is also included in the kit. You are supposed to place the solution or gel in the mouth guard and then follow the directions given with the equipment. The frequency of use and the duration of treatment for home bleaching vary. Overnight treatments work for a much shorter period. However, if you are, say, required to use the kit twice a day, the treatment might be effective for a longer period of time.

Whitening toothpastes work in a different way from bleaching techniques because they do not aim towards a permanent alteration of teeth color. They usually contain polishing agents. They work to remove some of the deeper stains, which a regular toothpaste might not effectively dislodge. You should always consult your dentist before going forth with any of these procedures he is the best person to guide you and can advise you on the most effective treatment plan suited to your needs.

The Basics And Nothing But The Vital Basics Of Beauty And Make Up

Keywords:
beauty, skincare, make up, looking good, advice, spa, women, hair, fashion, style

If youre tired of buying more and more beauty products, and in the end always use the same ones, or they dont fit in your bathroom, we have the solution for you. In todays newsletter you will find a list with the vital beauty products that all of us women should have in our bathroomand Ill also explain why its important to have it and what its for. This list will save you a lot of time and money

FACIAL CARE

Eye makeup remover
Eye makeup remover formulas are soft, designed to remove makeup from this delicate part of the face. If you want to take care of your eye contour to avoid those extra wrinkles, buy an eye makeup remover that goes with your eye and your budget. And most importantly, get used to always using it!

Facial makeup remover
Buy one according to your skin type, your budget and your needs. Dont buy a makeup remover that cant be used on any occasion. A good makeup remover removes all types of makeup, night, day Also, when you dont apply makeup, use it before going to sleep. Your face gets dirty with air pollutants and other substances.

Skin toner
Toner is optional. I use it a lot because I like the fresh sensation it leaves on my face. Also, it balances the skins PH immediately and makes some creams absorb and penetrate rapidly. If youre going to buy one or you use one already, its important that it adapts to your skin type and needs. For example, if you have sensitive skin, buy a calming one, or if you have greasy skin, buy an astringent one.

This is all you need to keep your skin clean! Now lets look at treatment and moisturizer.

Eye contour moisturizer
This is an important investment, but you will appreciate it in the future. It takes eight to ten years to remove wrinkles, which means that we should begin moisturizing this part of the eye. Whew. From the time we were 20 years old If you have not done it, youre in time to start now. There are contours of all types and for all ages. If you have bags or dark circles under your eyes, buy one that will help you with this problem! You will quickly notice the difference. If you already use one, remember to apply it before the moisturizer. The contour cream has a lighter formula than any other cream; thats why it should always be applied beforehand and around the eye with small, light touches.

Moisturizing cream
You should always, always moisturize your skin. Cream not only gives you elasticity and moisturization but also protects you from external agents. Choose a cream that adapts to your type of skin. Do you have greasy skin? Buy a cream thats oil-free for oily skin types. Do you have sensitive, dry skin? Buy a cream that apart from moisturizing your skin completely will calm your skin.

Its better if you use the same cream in the morning and at night rather than, by having to buy a night and a day cream, reducing the quality. The ideal is to have two, but if you cant, buy a good one and use it day and night. Remember that its not necessary to use a lot of the product, just enough to cover your face and neck.

Exfoliating lotion
You can buy a good exfoliating lotion for a decent price. The exfoliating lotion can change the whole look of you skin within minutes. Buy one that adapts to your skin type. There are also exfoliating lotions for dry skin. They are very soft, but they produce a great result. Those of you who have very sensitive skin should be careful and try the product on the inside of your forearm before buying it. Make sure its a good exfoliating lotion for your type of skin.

Buy exfoliating lotion often. It removes the dead cells from your skin. Apply it softly. Youll notice how your skin looks fresh and shining and how you can extend your makeup foundation better and more uniformly.

Facial masque
At least once a month (better twice) you should apply a masque on your face. Which type? you may ask. Well, what you should ask is, What is my problem? Sometimes we use products just because we doand many times we dont use products for a specific problem. Well, what is your skin like? Do you think you need more brightness? Use a cleansing masque. Do you need moisturizing? Use a moisturizer. Do you have stressed out and tired skin? Use a decongestant masque. There are some that, as they come in contact with a moist face, warm up and are delightful. Whats more, now in most places you can find one-time masquesvery affordable!

Lip moisturizer
If you dont have much money, go to the pharmacy and buy an affordable lip moisturizing treatment. If you want to invest a bit more, you can buy one that even solves problems with small wrinkles or gives greater volume.

Serum
Serum is a product that is used occasionally from treating wrinkles to dryness, lack of luster and a long etcetera. There are many types. They are usually expensive. You only need one and it lasts for a long time. If you want to, buy it when you need a crash treatment and an instant result

And thats itOf course there are many, many more products, but these are basically the essential ones. Dont miss out on our next newsletter; we will give you a complete list of the essential makeup items, basic eyeshadows, the ideal lipstickand our advice about each one of the products that weve recommended.

Hair Removal - Bye Bye Love

Hair removal is a personal dilemma for many people. Everyone has unwanted hair somewhere and wonders what's the best way to get rid of it. Epilator? Electric shaver? Electrolysis? Waxing? Here's are various hair removal techniques to keep you from looking like the shaggy dog.

Electrolysis - Hair Removal

The electrolysis hair removal process has been around over a hundred years. As a hair removal process, electrolysis is effective, but has a few drawbacks... it's costly, may cause you pain, damage your damage and grows back before you know it. In short, electrolysis is yesterday's news in hair removal. In the internet age, women prefer an epilator in their purse for a quick shave to a three hour appointment for electrolysis.

Shaving - Hair Removal

Shaving is cool, everybody knows that, it's sexy and does a good job of hair removal. It's long-lasting you can buy designer shavers and do it at home. How long does this hair removal technique last? Longer than some relations, that's for sure.. As a hair remover, shaving is much less painful that Electrolysis, sorry to disappoint masochists among you. Aside from a few cuts and skin irritation, shaving is ok, but lacks pizzazz.

Waxing - Hair Removal

Waxing for hair removal is an ancient practice and healing art. It takes a highly skilled professional for the waxing hair removal session to be a success. The treatment involves applying hot wax on your skin and pulling it off quickly. Ouch! A strip of paper or cloth is pressed against your skin and quickly pulled away taking hairs with it. Waxing has some other drawbacks like uneven hair removal and extra time involved. Try it at least once, then go back to your epilator

Epilators - Hair Removal

Epilators are popular hair removal products for soft skin and smooth legs today. They are compact in size, easy to use and remove hair by the root almost with little pain. Compared to electrolysis and waxing, epilators are a breeze. In minutes, a woman may have smooth skin that lasts for weeks because the epilator slows hair growth. Compared to epilators, other hair removal techniques are jilted lovers. Bye Bye Love!

Lasik Procedure Laser Vision Correction Problems

LASIK laser eye surgery is the most advanced procedure to correct vision problems. Check out his credentials below: He was a member of the surgical team that performed the first laser vision correction procedure in the U.S. PRK is a laser vision correction procedure that uses an excimer laser to treat mild to moderate levels of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. If you have financed the procedure through TruVision, the payment will be paid to the laser center automatically after the procedure has been performed. LASIK is an exciting laser vision correction procedure that can dramatically reduce a patient's dependency on contact lenses or eyeglasses. Another name commonly used for the procedure is laser vision correction.

It is the only excimer laser system that allows wavefront diagnostic technology to actually guide an excimer laser during a laser vision correction procedure. The result is NearVisionSM CK a safe, non-laser vision-correction procedure that is allowing patients to end their frustration with reading glasses. It is important to note that this laser vision correction procedure is an Coff-label use of the excimer laser. Lasik was introduced in the mid 1990's, and is now the most commonly performed laser vision correction procedure. Prior to laser vision correction, radial keratomy (RK) was a procedure that could correct nearsightedness. However, like RK, the AK procedure is somewhat unreliable and has been supplanted by modern laser vision correction techniques. Primack will discuss the option of custom laser vision correction if he determines you are a good candidate for the procedure. Excimer laser vision correction is not a new or experimental procedure.

Today, laser surgery is one of the most popular vision correction treatments. Take a vision exam that tests the candidacy of laser surgery patients. The goal of laser vision correction, and every other type of refractive surgery, is to make you less dependent on glasses and contacts. Learn about the benefits of LASIK and wavefront laser vision correction surgery and how it works. We have also added phakic implants and clear lens surgery for patients who are not candidates for laser vision correction. Corrective laser eye surgery can give an individual perfect vision. The onset of laser-vision correction surgery widened those options, bringing people even closer to perfect vision.

For laser eye surgery, the surgeons at Baylor Vision use the newest technologies that are available for the treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Columbia is studying the use of the WaveScan diagnostic unit in patients with complications of laser vision correction surgery. During the past decade more than 2 million people have sought laser vision correction surgery to remedy nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. You can relax during your laser eye surgery, knowing that you're obtaining a vision correction that's precisely centered on your eye. When the laser surgery is complete, light can more easily focus on the retina and uncorrected vision is therefore improved.

Wavefront Technology is the next generation of laser vision correction. Microvision say the technology is safe because of very low strength of the laser used. This laser delivery system represents a whole new dimension in technology, accuracy, and safety in laser vision correction. Our laser vision correction solutions include safe and current refractive technology such as LASIK and wavefront technology, otherwise known as custom LASIK. The technology used in laser vision correction continues to evolve rapidly. CustomLASIK laser vision correction using IntraLase bladeless technology has helped over a half-million people worldwide achieve even better results than previously possible. Advances in laser technology make it possible to effectively correct an extensive range of vision disorders such as Myopia, Hyperopia, and Astigmatism.

The advanced IntraLase technology has given many patients more confidence when considering laser vision correction. We believe that laser vision correction enriched with IntraLase is one of the most important advances in technology today. Our mission is to provide the finest quality Laser Vision Correction, utilizing the latest technology that promotes excellent, safe, long-term results.

However, technological advancements have made laser vision correction the best choice for treating refractive eye disorders in most people. Only Henry Ford LASIK uses three of the most advanced laser systems to provide the laser vision correction that fits you best. How the tissue below the epithelium is exposed becomes an important aspect to laser vision correction and differentiates the various methods of treatment. LASIK and PRK are the two most common types of laser vision correction being performed today. Thanks to laser vision correction, millions of people who wore glasses or contact lenses every day now enjoy the freedom of natural vision. Now, it's the name you know and can trust for your laser vision correction.

There has been considerable news coverage about people having a difficult time driving at night after having laser vision correction. If you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive, you should not have laser vision correction at this time. You may experience some visual side effects after laser vision correction. The most common side effects of laser vision correction are "halo" effect and some glare at night around lights. Cafeteria or flex spending accounts are eligible for laser vision correction and can save you up to 50% by using pre-tax dollars. Once you've decided that you would like to pursue laser vision correction, contact Dr. McCormack will give you a good sense of what outcome you may expect from laser vision correction during your examination. kxxp://www.laser-vision.info/

Natural Beauty Making Your Own Skin And Hair Treatments Is As Easy As 1-2-3

natural beauty care

The quest for beautiful skin and hair is prevalent among women. You can make inexpensive, natural beauty and hair treatments from ingredients you have in your home that will perform just as well or better than products you purchase in the store.

If you only have one natural beauty remedy in your pantry, make it Olive Oil. It's extremely versatile and can be used on every part of your body.

Olive oil is excellent for removing mascara. It's much better than petroleum jelly or baby oil and is beneficial to the skin around your eyes.

Use a few drops of olive oil in warm water for a wonderful at-home manicure. Apply your favorite lotion afterwards to lock in the moisture.

Beeswax and olive oil melted and poured into a small tin makes wonderful lip balm that will keep your lips soft and smooth.

Dry feet can be healed after one night of this treatment. Before bed, rub olive oil into your dry, cracked feet. Do not rinse. Then, put a cozy pair of socks on and go to sleep. Your feet will drink in the moisture and feel much better by morning.

Add a few drops of olive oil to your bath water for the best skin softener you can imagine. And, if you're feeling extra decadent, then add a few drops of essential oil for a natural aromatherapy bath.

A very small amount of olive oil applied to dry hair will condition and get rid of frizz. This is a great leave-in conditioner.

Olive oil can also work as a shaving cream for men with sensitive skin.

Don't buy those expensive Sea Salt Scrubs. Make your own. Just add sea salt to olive oil and you've got a sea salt scrub that will feel like heaven. Add a drop of essential oils if you'd like your scrub scented.

Please use caution when using olive oil in your bathtub as it will get quite slippery and you don't want to fall.

It is not necessary to pay a lot of money for beauty treatment products. The things you have in your very own kitchen can often be the best beauty products available.

Laser Hair Removal: A Basic Understanding

Laser hair removal is one of the newest cosmetic procedures available today. The process is to permanently remove hair from any part of your body that you wish by the use of a light at a designated wavelength, which is projected into the skin by way of a laser hand held instrument.

What the laser accomplishes, after it's reached into the interior of the skin, is to focus on the hair's pigment. The laser destroys the follicle of the hair but does not damage the remaining hair tissue around it.

While laser hair removal can be quite effective and has been so for many, it is new, and, as compared with older hair removal treatments, relatively untested. What this means is that we really don't know yet just how safe or unsafe it might be and the potential for side effects. The other issue with the newness of this laser hair removal process is that no one has used it for long enough to have continuity of statistics that would indicate the rate of response to the laser hair removal treatment and the rate at which the hair grows back after each laser hair removal treatment.

Two of the most important elements to consider in qualifying potential laser hair removal candidates are skin color and hair color.

1. Skin Colour. Light skin makes laser hair removal easier to perform. Due to the lighter pigmentation, the laser hair removal results happen more quickly. Fewer treatments are required, and better, faster results are obtained. People with darker skin can be treated, but results are slower. They just have to be content with the knowledge that it will take longer to see results and a greater number of treatments are probably going to be needed.

2. Hair Colour. Laser hair removal works best on dark hair. The reason for the difference is the pigment pheomelanin, which is found only in red or blonde hair. It is very hard for a laser to penetrate pheomelanin. On the other hand, the laser goes easily through eumelanin, the pigment found in black and brown hair.

Treatment costs can add up to more than $1,000 as multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to obtain optimal results. This is largely due to the fact that laser hair removal is most effective for hair which is in the anagen phase (the growth phase). Since hair grows in cycles, not all of the hairs are in the anagen phase at any given time. Thus, more sessions are necessary to target hairs while they are in anagen.

How much and how long an individual respond to complete hair removal by laser hair removal differ from case to case. So, no hair removal clinics can guarantee 100% permanent results by a certain period. Consumers are nevertheless well advised, to consult with licensed professional and reputable laser hair removal centers.

The Main Benefits of Endermologie

Cellulite. Those trapped pockets of fat near the surface of the skin that make your skin look bumpy and puckered. Unappealing to most, it appears in problematic areas such as the upper thighs, buttocks, and stomach where many fibrous bands exist to trap fat. Since these areas are slow to react to the benefits of exercise, once cellulite appears, it is often difficult and impossible for those affected to eliminate it. Unfortunately, it is a common occurrence in women even if they do exercise on a regular basis.

Several creams and pills flood the market boasting their curative properties fighting cellulite, but most are only very temporary solutions to a permanent problem. Other treatment methods with longer lasting results can be acquired from cosmetic procedures involving invasive surgery, such as liposuction. However, these are not viable options for those unwilling to go under the knife for the sake of their vanity.

Is there no remedy to Orange Peel or Cottage Cheese skin, then?

Of course not! In treatments that are about 40 minutes in length, Endermologie reduces or eliminates cellulite with long lasting results in a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that is not surgical. It is also less expensive than liposuction.

Using a hand held device with motorized rollers and controlled suction, the targeted areas are massaged deeply to stretch fibers that are attached to fat, stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic drainage while the patient wears a body stocking. Toxins are released, allowing for the reduction of cellulite in a painless procedure. This unique device has been approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and has been researched and tested throughout the years.

Endermologie is not only for cellulite, though. It can be used for those suffering from poor blood circulation, muscular pains, and to exfoliate the skin to smoothen it. In fact, the procedure was originally invented over three decades ago in France for the purposes of acting as rehabilitative treatment for damaged muscular tissue, burns and scars. The reduction of cellulite was simply a side effect to the procedure, and was first used in the United States a decade ago for this purpose.

Usually, a few treatments are required before the appearance of cellulite is reduced or eliminated. It can begin with two procedures per week then gradually, as the results become apparent, follow up treatments are scheduled once per month. Those who have been treated with Endermologie should continue to exercise and diet accordingly to maintain its effects.

To find out more about Endermologie and to see if it is the right treatment for you, please visit your physician and cosmetic surgeon.

Sedu Beauty Tips: Step-By-Step

The Sedu hair straightening method is done with a Sedu straightening iron, which has ceramic plates an inch to an inch and a half wide. There are thicker plates to be used with longer-length hair and there are thinner ceramic plates to use with shorter hair. Quite a bit of information regarding this can be found on the Internet.

Imagine straightening your hair without ruining it with harmful chemicals or without it snagging or the ends breaking off. The Sedu hair straightener has four different heat settings which help you straighten your hair within only about 15 to 20 minutes. Furthermore, if you dont know if you want straight hair for the rest of your life the Sedu straightener can help you see what you would look like with straight hair before making a commitment to having your hair permanently chemically treated in a salon, or even at home.

If you choose to have your hair permanently straightened, you can do that too but keep in mind that you should do a strand test to make sure your hair can handle the straightening chemicals. That would be done by either you or your hair stylist. Then you would have to put on a protective cream in order to shield your hair from the chemicals being used, and afterwards add a relaxant cream. You would not have to redo your hair if you use a chemical treatment, but the steps to having it done (or doing it yourself) are more extensive, and it is riskier than just using a Sedu straightener.

The Sedu Ceramic Hair Straightener can create more temporary styles and you can have a new style every single day if you want. Some days you could add a little curl to it and other days you can have it completely straight and it would not remain permanently. You can also apply a variety of different styles after receiving a chemical hair straightening treatment, but again, it is more risky when you attempt to use harmful chemicals in your hair.

There are easy steps to apply when attempting to apply a Sedu Ceramic hair straightening style. Those steps are as follows:

Start out with clean, wet, hair
Apply a small amount of styling product such as mousse or gel to your hair
Dry your hair, combing downward for approximately 15 minutes
Divide your hair into sections and then begin straightening your hair
Style your hair according to your favorite Sadu Styling technique

Many of these looks are modeled after Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and other great celebrities. Free photos of these celebrities are posted online as well. You can take a look at these photos to use as models for your next Sedu hairstyle.

Scary Scars Know How to Treat It the Non-Surgical Way!

What are scars & why scars arise?

Scars occur after healing of a wound caused by accident, burn, or surgery. Scars form on the human skin and look like fibrous tissues. Skin is a very sensitive and soft part in the human body. Scars naturally form on the wounded area when the healing process is complete. Skin problems like acne and infections like chicken pox will also leave scars on various areas of the body. Most of the wounds leave scars on the body, and the size of the scar is related to the size of the wound.

The damaged area of the skin is repaired and collagen fibres are formed over the wound by the cells called fibroblasts. The fibrous tissue or scars resultant of wound do not possess the qualities of the skin. They are not resistant to ultra violet radiation and the hair follicles dont grow on these spots. These scars cannot be removed completely from the body, but there are various treatment methods to enhance the appearance of the affected area.

Types of Scars

Keliod scars: These scars take a tumor like shape and bulge beyond the wounded area. These scars protrude beyond the wound, and are severe when the wounded area is around the joint.

Hypertrophic scars: These are similar to keliod scars in shape, but do not protrude beyond the wounded area.

Contracture scars: These type of scars form on wounds caused by burns. The skin gets tightened as a result of these scars, and one may experience difficulty to move.

Acne scars: These scars are resultant of severe acne. The size and type of scars varies depending on the type of acne.

Chicken pox scars: Chicken pox leaves scars on the skin after infection. These scars may be darker than the skin color and remains almost throughout life.

Treatment of scars in the non- surgical way

Dressing the wound: The wounds must be given proper medical dressing to prevent infections. The wounds which are left open are at a higher risk of getting infected, and due to the delay in the healing process deep scars on the affected areas may occur.

Pressure dressing: Pressure dressing causes a reduction in wound metabolism. It exerts pressure on the area covered and prevents accumulation of fluids in the underlying tissues. The use of pressure dressings on the affected areas has been effective in preventing scar formation.

Creams and ointments in treating scars: There are various creams and ointments available to reduce scarring. These creams are applied on the wound and they help to reduce formation of scars on the affected areas. Consult a dermatologist to get the best suitable ointments according to the type of wound for treating scars.

Calcium channel blockers: Calcium antagonists are used to decrease collagen synthesis. They are capable to induce changes in the fibroblast gene expression. They block the cellular communication pathways which are essential to regulate the behavior of the fibroblast. This method is useful in treatment of established scars.

Laser treatment: This type of treatment is useful to flatten the scars which are raised above the level of the skin. The pink color of the scar can also be changed using laser treatment.

Acne scar treatment: Most of the teens are affected by acne and recover without any permanent marks. But in some people acne leaves scars on their skin. The areas affected with acne must not be exposed to the skin, as it may delay the healing process. The use of topical skin care products can be helpful to reduce scars at early stage. A good moisturizer can be applied over the skin to protect it from the sun rays. The use of chemical peels improves the skin tone, but it is less effective on scars.

Scars are formed due to various reasons and can be found almost on everyones body. Most people think that surgery is the only way to remove scars, and so they choose to live with scars, instead of surgery. The non-surgical methods described above are also effective to reduce the impact of scars.
