Beauty Care - What Is Sweat?

Sweat is bodys natural defense to maintain the body temperature. Sweat normally contains water, and very small amounts of salt, urea, sugar and ammonia. By sweating body cools itself of the heat that may get generated because of outside temperature, physical work, and emotional stress. Some diseases can also cause sweating. For that you should consult your doctor.

Over and under sweating- some of us may suffer from over sweating (hyperhidrosis) or very less or no sweating (anhidrosis). Very low sweating may be life threatening, while over sweating may sometimes be caused by some severe body problems.

Types of sweat- our body has two types of sweat glands- eccrine sweat glands and apocrine sweat glands. Eccrine glands are distributed all over the body. Apocrine sweat glands are located on the scalp, armpits and the genital area. These glands do not produce much fluid. Sweat is generally odorless. Most of the times, it is the bacterial disintegration of sweat of both the types that produces odor.

To avoid odor because of sweat, the best method is to keep skin dry. Good hygiene will not allow bacteria to develop and multiply. Change of clothes after sweating is another method, because clothes carry sweat and can cause odor. If you have excessive sweat or are getting troubled by sweat, please consult your doctor who may suggest different methods that may include use of antiperspirants, botox injection, Iontophoresis and in rare cases surgery.

Sweat is not a big problem for most of us. It is the odor that is the bigger irritant. Keep your body clean at all the times and take basic care and you will find most of the problems disappearing. Deodorants do not reduce sweat but only mask the odor with fragrance. the need is not to mask but to stop bacterial disintegration of sweat and if sweat is excessive, to consult doctor and get treated.

Hillary Duff and her Cosmetic Surgery, Dental Cosmetic Surgery That Is

The young singer/actress Hillary Duff has had various speculations about her smile as of late. This is verification to everyone's suspicions, yes Hillary Duff has veneers. The young pop star chipped her tooth on her microphone during one of her energetic concerts. She had emergency dental surgery to solve the problem of the chipped tooth. Even though she only chipped one tooth Miss Duff did have to get veneers (plural) because it is incredibly difficult to match the shade of natural teeth and porcelain veneers.

If you are at all concerned over what an extensive and grueling procedure Miss Duff endured or you want to hear an account of all the gory details then read on. Don't be too concerned though, because they did not have to knock her teeth out with a hammer (although I am sure they had a line of people begging for the job). When placing veneers only 0.5 millimeters are what is necessary to shave off to make room for the veneers. They stick to the natural tooth through the use of cements and other bonding agents.

Some concerns over veneers are that you cannot take them out if you regret your decision for whatever reason, because the shape your teeth to be pointy. Price is another concern, because each porcelain veneer can cost up to and more than one thousand dollars. There are composite materials that are cheaper, but porcelain is known to stain less and last longer. Although, porcelain veneers are more durable they still chip easily.

That is why Hillary Duff chipped her tooth again on her microphone at a later concert date. Of course she had to have emergency surgery to fix her broken veneer, because the paparazzi would have a field day with pictures of a less than perfect Duff. Hilary Duff a celebrity with her own Barbie doll can't possibly be seen any less than perfect. Her second dental surgery was less abrasive since it was only a replacement rather than a whole new set, and the preparation was already done.

All of this boils down to a question that has been bothering me since the beginning of this ordeal. I believe this question his greatly looked over and not contemplated enough. The question being of course: what the hell his her microphone doing so close to her mouth? First of all, if the microphone is so close to her teeth then she should feel where it is. If she could feel the microphone on her lips why would she accidentally bite down?

These are questions that will plague humanity long after Hilary Duff's career plummets into obscurity. Comfort can be taken in the fact that veneers are a new alternative to orthodontist and can repair embarrassingly given chips to the teeth. Veneers are the new Hollywood secret that has been out to the public and now all we have to do is wait for Madonna to catch on and fix the gap in her teeth.

Understanding Hair Growth To Lose Unwanted Hair

Hair growth is one of the most amazing aspects of the human body. And, although you have thousands of hairs all over your body, you probably think nothing of it. Did you know that once a fetus is about 22 weeks old he has developed five million follicles all over his body? And, that is all he will ever have too. Now, what else can we learn about the biology of hair?

Whats It Made Of?

The anatomy of a strand of hair is amazing. First, there is the follicle which is actually embedded into the skin. The hairs grow from the follicle through a shaft. The papilla lies at the base of the follicle as one of the many layers of the follicle. Next, capillaries help to connect the papilla to the blood supply. These surround the bottom of the hair called the bulb.

There are two sheaths that are in place to protect the hair shaft from being damaged surrounding the follicle. In one of them, runs next to the hair shaft and stops at the sebaceous gland. The other, the outer sheath, runs from the glad and stops at the erector pili muscle.

Keratin is dead protein cells that are what make up the hair shaft. The inside layer of them is the medulla. The second is the cortex and it provides the most hair shaft. Hair color is determined in this layer. The cuticle is the outside most layer and it has a series of overlapping cells. The luster of the hair comes from this layer.

How Growth Happens

Hair growth happens in three main stages. Did you know that your hair will only grow .3 to .4 millimeters per day? That is only six inches per year! Although it seems like it grows much more it really does not.

The Stages:

Catagen Phase: This is the transition phase. It lasts about two to three weeks. There is no hair growth now, as the goal is for the outer portion of the hair root sheath to shrink and then attach itself to the root.

Telogen Phase: The resting period. About 15% of your hair is in this stage at any given time. It takes about 100 days for the scalp hair and much longer for the body hair to go through this stage.

Anagen Phase: Hair cells are dividing and new hair growth is happening. It can last for as long as two to six years! Do you have trouble growing your hair long? This happens because your hair in this stage does not last nearly this long.

What Can Go Wrong?

There are several hair abnormalities that can happen. These hair disorders can strike just about anyone, but are in most cases rare. One, hirsutism is when individuals, mostly women, have excessive hair growth that is in odd places. For most women, the hair is darker and coarser than it should be. It can occur on the face, chest or the areola.

Another condition known as hypertrichosis is very rare and happens when individuals suffer from hair that grows thickly in areas of the body that it normally would not.

These conditions can be treated fairly well if help is sought out. Hair growth, while a very common and seemingly ordinary thing, actually is much more complex than people imagine. But, understanding how it works can help you to understand how to rid your body of unwanted hair.

Eye Makeup Tips - How To Apply Eyeliner

In this article we take a look at how to apply eyeliner with some tips on achieving some great effects.

One stunning effect that can be achieved easily and a favorite of such well-known actresses from Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe to Gwyneth Paltrow, is rimming the eyes with either a white or beige eye pencil. This has the effect of enlarging the white of the eye to create a seductive, alluring look.

To apply the eye pencil, pull your lid away from the eye very gently using one or two fingers and draw a line along the inner eye rims. Do the same with both the upper and lower lids. To make a sharpened pencil softer and easier to apply, you can draw a few lines first on the back of your hand. This will soften the tip and get the color flowing.

Kohl can be applied in the same way with sensational effect. The use of kohl goes back to ancient Egyptian times and is characteristic of eye makeup in the Middle and Far East. Apply your kohl pencil as described above to both the upper and lower rims, from corner to corner. Then, using either a sponge-tipped applicator, eyeshadow brush, or even your fingertip, blend the color by smudging it to create a smoky effect.

Once you are satisfied with the appearance, you will need to set it by using a light application of loose powder. For an even stronger, more intense effect, apply your preferred color around the eyes in either cream, liquid or powder form.

If you want to use liquid eyeliner, once youve mastered the technique of applying it, this can be a quick method of achieving a stunning and sophisticated look. But applying liquid eyeliner can take a little practice.

To begin, its best to be in front of a good magnifying mirror, so that your eyes are magnified sufficiently to see very clearly what you are about to do and ensure a smooth application of the liquid eyeliner. Then, using your free hand, start by pulling the eyelid taut. If youre right-handed its probably easiest for you to start applying the liquid from left-to-right, as if you are writing, and vice versa if you are left-handed. Draw across in a single continuous fine line. If you want a thicker line then, at the end of the run, simply retrace.

A tip when applying liquid eyeliner is to apply it as close as possible to the eyelashes, even running into the eyelashes. This will avoid you getting that annoying white line effect between the lashes and the liner when the two dont meet.

Applying liquid eyeliner does take some practice, so have a bottle of makeup remover to hand until you are confident in the technique. As they say: practice makes perfect, and with a little perseverance and a steady hand youll soon be achieving some great effects.

Cosmetic Surgery for Men Chest Implants

So, how do your pecs look? For many men, impressive chest muscles are a must. If you cant get them or dont have the time for exercise, cosmetic implants may be the answer.

Cosmetic Surgery for Men Chest Implants

When we think of people who are unsatisfied with their chest size, we usually think of women. Many women are unhappy with the size of their breasts, and some of them choose to undergo breast augmentation in order to enlarge their size or correct their shape. However, women are not the only ones who go under the knife to have cosmetic surgery on their chests. More and more, men who are not happy with how they look are seeing doctors about getting chest implants.

Chest implants are just what they sound like implants that are placed under the skin in the pecs to enlarge this area. The implants used are made of solid silicone, and are considered very safe by the Food and Drug Administration. They are not the same as traditional silicone breast implants, which were made with silicone gel that could leak and allegedly cause medical problems. Solid silicone implants cannot leak, and they stay in the same shape for as long as they stay in the body.

The reasons that men choose to have their pecs augmented vary. Some men feel that no matter how much they exercise and lift weights, they can't build up their pecs to a large enough size. Chest implants can increase the bulk and overall projection of the pecs to a size that will satisfy these men (but they will not add definition to the chest area, this must be accomplished through exercise). Other men may have medical conditions or congenital defects that have caused the underdevelopment of the chest area, so an implant will correct this deficiency.

Men planning on having this procedure will need to stop working out one to two weeks prior to the operation in order to have the area be prepared to accept the implants. They will also need to allow about four weeks of recovery time before they can go back to rigorous exercise. The average cost of chest implants is around $7,000 and there are some complications that can happen, such as migration of the implant or general problems with the incision or surgery. Luckily, if a problem does arise and the implants need to be removed, this is a simple procedure.

Chest implants can give some men the confidence they need to go shirtless or otherwise show off their chests. These implants represent another area where cosmetic surgery has expanded to provide a solution to a problem. Make sure to discuss the options for your specific situation with a qualified cosmetic surgeon.

NIA24 - An Exciting New Tool for Improving Skin Health and Appearance

NIA24 Improves Effectiveness of Other Skin Treatment Products
Not only does NIA24 work well used on its own, it can play a useful supporting role in other skin regimens. By strengthening and repairing the skin, NIA24 products can form an effective addition to other treatments like retinoids (Tretinoin, Retin-A, etc) and glycolic acids. Many users find that the use of retinoids and similar products to be irritating to the skin. The improvements of the skins barrier function that NIA24 products yield improved tolerance to retinoid product therapy, resulting in a more comfortable course of treatment for the user.

Additionally, NIA24 has been proving itself to be a valuable addition to dermatologist and medical spa treatment such as photo facial, IPL and resurfacing. Adding NIA24 to IPL therapy has been observed to result in a greater degree of improvement than resulted from only the IPL treatment alone. Patients were evaluated in terms of hyper pigmentation, redness, skin texture and overall appearance, and the patients who used NIA24 products in combination with the IPL therapy showed noticeable improvement over those who received only IPL alone.

Skin Looks Better on the Outside Because its Stronger on the Inside
NIA24 simulates the skin natural barrier functions, making the skin stronger and more resistant to damage. NIA 24 products help reduce visible signs of aging such as brown spots, hyper pigmentation and lines associated with sun damage. In as little as 90 days, patients reported dramatic improvements in their skins tone, texture and appearance.

Current research suggests that not only do the NIA24 line products help to strengthen and repair existing skin damage, they may actually help protect against future damage. The skins barrier layer is improved and thickened, providing healthier skin that is stronger, firmer and more vital.

NIA24 Products May Reduce the Risk of Skin Cancer
Research indicates that not only does NIA24 improve the aesthetic appearance of the skin; it may actually help to prevent the development of skin cancer. Recent studies indicate that the therapeutic application of topical niacin (such as the patented Pro-Niacin ingredients found in the NIA24 product line) may actually work to help protect and repair the skins DNA. Researchers theorize that this protective action helps minimize the risk of developing skin cancer.

Surgical Solutions If the Appearance of Your Ears Bothers You

For many people, the appearance of the ears can be something that generates a lot of self-conscious activity. There are surgical solutions that can let you pursue any haircut you want.

Surgical Solutions If the Appearance of Your Ears Bothers You

Big ears. Pointy ears. Ears sticking out to far. Large earlobes. There are a number of complaints people have about their ears of which these are only a few. At first glance, ear enhancements may seem like a very small percentage of all plastic surgical procedures undertaken. This assumption is entirely incorrect.

The appearance of ones ears can be a major issue for each of us. Our ears are located on the focal point, the head, of our body. They are as much a part of the physical impression we give people as our nose. If you catch people glancing at your ears when they speak to you, you know this is the case. Fortunately, surgical solutions exist and are a very popular procedure in the plastic surgery field.

Medically known as Otoplasty, plastic surgeons perform frequent surgeries to enhance the appearance of patients ears. Unlike most plastic surgical procedures, the enhancement is not pre-defined. It depends entirely on the condition of the ears and how the patient is bothered by the condition. The most common complaints are the ears are too large or stick out from the side of the head too much. Otoplasty is a method for dealing with both.

Ear surgery is most often done at a younger age. Given the effect on psychological development and the inherent teasing abilities of other children, this is hardly surprising. This psychological impact is so established that otoplasty is one of the few cosmetic surgeries that health insurance may cover. Obviously, you should check with your insurance carrier to see if this is the case in your situation.

Depending on the situation, ear surgery can take a couple of hours or longer. The exact procedure cant be described because it depends on the specific condition each patient has. That being said, general anesthesia is often used, but the procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis with no hospitalization required. Recover time is usually a week or so and the changes are permanent.

If your ears are a constant source of aggravation, you need not continue to suffer. Ear enhancement is a fairly common procedure and one that can make a major difference to children and adults.

The Bodily Rundown on Eco-Friendly Skin Care

Cracked, sore heels, dried out hands, brittle, split nails, tight, dry facial skin and smelly feet. Sound familiar? A week or so working in the garden and there you have it, all these skin care problems on one sorry body. So how do you fix it all without taking out a small mortgage and remaining eco-friendly? Never fear there are ways to get that skin and body back in top condition and there's no better place to start than from the top!

Face:
Synthetic face creams can coat the skin trapping the moisture beneath and this can cause irritation because the skin cannot breathe normally.

Creams based on plant oils and Shea butter benefit the skin by nourishing it with vitamins and minerals, thus building up strong, healthy skin cells that will surface over a few weeks.

Vitamins E, A and C have been shown to prevent premature aging and wrinkles and can repair minor skin problems like an uneven skin tone. The nourishing oils of rose hip and evening primrose can rejuvenate the skin, while ingredients such as spirulina stimulate tissue regeneration and cucumber can help clear blemishes.

Feet:
Cracked, sore heels and smelly feet can be a constant problem in many households with people of all ages, but a little natural care taken weekly can help heal and prevent further complications. Soaking the feet in a bucket of warm water to which is added a cup of bi-carbonate of soda will soften and deodorize the feet. After fifteen minutes gently use a foot scrub to remove the dry skin and then dry thoroughly. Apply a little natural foot cream that contains anti-bacterial essential oils and then cover with socks to let the cream penetrate deeply into the skin. This easy routine will prevent fungal infections and keep your feet smelling fresh and clean.

Hands:
Natural hand and nail creams containing ingredients such as Shea butter, avocado, macadamia, apricot and almond oils, vitamins and aloe vera will not only moisturize the hands but also strengthen the nails, fade age spots and smooth the skin. Hand scrubs can speed up cell regeneration on the hands and should be used weekly to remove dry, flaky skin and dead cells.

An easy hand scrub to make at home is with sugar and olive oil. Just mix together to a pleasant consistency and gently massage the mixture on the hands for a few minutes. Rinse and apply a good natural hand cream.

Getting into the eco-friendly mode of natural skin care will keep you looking good and you will also be doing your body a great chemical free favor!

Knowing What Moisturizer to Use Is Knowing About Your Skin, Part 2

A dermatologist named Pierard stated, Dry skin is not a unique, well-defined condition but represents a medley of totally unrelated changes in the structure of the stratum corneum associated. In other words, the skin can become dry by the environment around you in lots of different ways.
The skin is made up of three main layers; the epidermis, which is the upper most layer, the dermis in the middle, and the layer on the bottom that also contains a layer of fat called the hypodermis. It contains nerves and blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to all other parts of the body. The dermis contains hair follicles, sweat glands, and sebaceous glands. The sebaceous gland produces an oil like substance that secretes to protect the top layer of skin. When these glands produce an excess of oil, the skin will often break out into acne.
Just below the layer of fat that surrounds the top layer of skin is the stratum corneum. These are cornified cells that are produced at the base layer of skin and act as a constant guard for our bodies by keeping foreign material out. It does this by constantly producing new cells and pushing them to the top and out the top layer of skin almost like an ocean current that washes things back to shore. Cornified cells attach themselves to the foreign matter and flush themselves up and out of the skin.
Moisturizers are combinations of chemicals that make the external layers of skin softer and more pliable by restoring the bodies natural level of hydration. They do this by using a variety of ingredients such as oils, humectants, emollients, lubricants, and fragrances to compose a completed product. These ingredients help our skin not only to restore the bodys natural moisture level, but can have many other effects as well.
One is that a moisturizer can help build a barrier against the loss of water the skin experiences while this protective coat gives the epidermis time to heal itself. When the environment damages the skin and makes it dry, a restoration of moisture to the skin can delay the signs of aging and help repair wrinkles and blemishes on the skin surface.
Manufacturers over the years have made bold claims on what their products can do if used on a regular basis, but understanding the skin and the environment around us is knowing that often these elaborate claims are just not possible. There are a number of products out there that are better than others, but your unique skin type is the most important factor when considering which is the best moisturizer to use on your face and body.

Dealing with Dandruff

CAUSES OF DANDRUFF

Although the cause of dandruff is not completely understood, it is currently theorized that one of the main causes is a breakdown of the scalps natural lipid barrier, leaving it more exposed to infection by the microscopic yeast that is commonly found in the scalp. When the yeast overgrows, it leads to an inflammatory response that kills off scalp cells at a high rate, which in turn slough off in sticky patches and flakes.

The condition is identified by:

- White or clear flakes on the scalp, through the hair, and on clothing.
- Itchy scalp which may be red and inflamed.

Some young teens find they develop dandruff when they hit puberty because their hygiene habits havent changed to meet the challenges of newly accelerated sebum production.

Stress, poor hygiene and poor diet can make the scalp more susceptible to dandruff. High sugar foods in particular are known to exacerbate yeast infections.

The hair should be brushed regularly to loosen flakes and stimulate blood supply to the scalp, which will accelerate the natural immune response to infection.

TREATING DANDRUFF

There are few habits you can develop and natural treatments you can use to treat dandruff.

Nutrition: An excess of sugar in the diet can exacerbate any yeast infection. Try reducing your intake of all sugars and refined starches while treating for dandruff.

Cleansing: Massage your scalp thoroughly with your fingertips when shampooing. This will help loosen and remove any dead skin flakes and help prevent the infection from continuing. Wash your hair daily until the infection is cleared up.

Conditioning: Use a protective hair condition on the ends of hair only. Avoid getting conditioner on your scalp where it can clog pores and interfere with healing of the skin.

Other Treatments:

- Massage: Massaging your scalp several times a day with the pads of the fingers only will stimulate blood supply to the hair follicles and help loosen the dead skin flakes.

- Brushing: Brushing your hair thoroughly on a daily basis will help loosen and remove dead skin flakes, increase the smooth flow of sebum along the hair shaft, and increase blood supply to the hair follicles.

- Wash Hands After Brushing and Grooming Hair: Fungal infections of the skin are highly contagious, and it is easy to reinfect and spread to other areas of the body. This is why its important to wash your hair daily and to brush out any loose dandruff flakes so that healthy areas of the scalp will not be infected. Washing your hands after brushing, massaging and grooming your hair will also help prevent reinfection or cross infection.

The following herbs and nutrients have been shown to reduce dandruff infections:

Natural Internal Treatments for Dandruff

Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Vanadyl Sulfate, Gynema Sylvestre and Chromium are all natural regulators of blood sugar levels. The can help prevent feeding the infection by keeping blood sugar levels normalized.

Olive Leaf and Oregano Leaf are both natural systemic antifungal agents.

Natural External Treatments for Dandruff

The following herbs can be used as a tonic for reducing fungal infections on a topical basis. Extracts of these herbs or a several drops of their essential oils dissolved in aloe vera gel or witch hazel can greatly relieve the symptoms of itching and flaking in dandruff. Tea tree oil is particularly effective against fungal and bacterial infections.

Ginsen
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit Essential Oil
Grapeseed Extract

Black is the best option, but if you wish to look more relaxed, try beige, dark green or a color that you like and thats not too bright so that it wont go out of style too quickly.

TIP: You should buy the suit, especially a black, brown or neutral one, together with a skirt for the same suit. Many suits come with a skirt or pants; whats ideal is to buy both so that you have more options.

Get the most out of your suit:

You can use the pantsuit with a business shirt to look elegant.
You can use the skirt and jacket with a suitable shirt to look feminine.
You can combine the pants with a sweater, tank top or cami.
Or you can combine the jacket with jeans for a weekend look.
You can wear the skirt with a sexy blouse to go out to dinner in the evening.

3. The indispensable little black dress
Its essential to have a little black dress hanging in your closet (how little the dress is depends on you and what you feel comfortable with).

TIP: Its better to buy a dress with a classic cut, staying away from anything excessively revealing; that way youll be able to use it on any occasion.

Get the most out of your black dress:

You can wear it with high heels to go out in the evening. If you put your hair up and use a stole, youll give it a very elegant touch.

You can also combine it with high-heeled sandals, slicking your hair back with gel for a sexy and glamorous look.

You can combine it with a knit jacket and flats to use it during the day.

4. An absolute must for all seasons: jeans.
Its very unusual to find a woman today who doesnt have a pair of jeans in her closet.

The difficulty arises in choosing the jeans that are the most appropriate for you among the immense variety that is available.

TIP: Visit the greatest possible number of stores and try on all the jeans that are necessary until you find the ones that favor you the most. Its important that they be somewhat elastic so that they adapt to your figure and are more comfortable to wear. Try to choose a darker cloth, which will give you a more slender and elegant figure. Dont be afraid of the mirror; look at yourself thoroughly from all available angles. Sit down, bend forward, move until you are assured that theyre comfortable. Lastly, dont forget that the length of the jeans should adapt to the height of the shoe you plan on wearing.

Get the most out of your jeans:

You can wear them with a suit jacket and a T-shirt for an informal look.
You can wear them with sneakers and a sweater for a sporty and comfortable look.
You can wear them with heels and a studded rhinestone top to go out in the evening and look fantastic.
You can combine them with a business shirt

Keeping Your Skin Clean - For Men

Did you know that men's skin is oilier than woman's skin? That is a fact gentlemen, and this means dirtier faces. So as you see men have even more need to take proper care of their skin by cleaning it every morning and night. And we are not talking about using body soap to fast clean it, we are talking about deep cleansing here. After finishing a deep skin cleansing session you will look better, healthier, and your pores will be clear.

When choosing a cleansing product, you should go if possible for natural products, or products based in natural ingredients. Try to avoid chemical based cleansers. I also mentioned body soaps before; body soaps are deodorant soaps and you shouldn't use them on your (I don't think your face need deodorant anyway) They contain ingredients that are not meant to use on the face and leave a detergent film behind, irritating and clogging your pores.

For deep cleansing you will also may need a facial scrub, a scrub will get rid of dead cells on the top layers of the skin and will smooth the surface of your face. Be careful not to use a scrub that will damage you because it is too strong. Avoid the ones that contains rough ingredients, because at the end they will damage your skin. If you feel your skin damaged after using it, change it immediately.

Once your skin is all clean, remember to moisturize it with also a natural option. If you shave, do it first, before applying the moisturizer and don't forget to apply the cream also on your neck. We tend to forget the neck, and it is as damaged as the skin. Moisturizing depends on your skin type, so my advice would be to get to know your skin well before buying anything and then go from there. For example if you need intensive moisturizing, you should use Vitamin E or Aloe Vera Oil.

As you see cleaning the face is very important, but at the same time is very easy, just add a couple of minutes to your daily morning ritual and you will assure you'll look great for the next years.

Expert Tips To Treat Your Hair Right

No matter what women do to their hair, they are looking for answers on how to treat it right. According to a recent survey, two-thirds of women (66 percent) say they would like one-on-one advice on hair care. Hair care expert Gretchen Monahan, the East Coast's most dynamic beauty and fashion trendsetter for the last 10 years, knows the importance of expert hair care.

"Considering all the things that women do to their hair, care that targets specific levels and types of damage is essential for healthy, beautiful hair," said Monahan.

This call has been answered: The Dove Hair Care Hotline, as debuted on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," is the ultimate destination for individualized hair care solutions. Monahan has lent her breadth of knowledge, enabling an expert staff to provide women with one-on-one advice for whatever they do to their hair.

Here is a preview of expert tips you can receive by calling the Hair Care Hotline:

Color: A New Routine

• Two out of three women (66 percent) color their hair and should be aware that the effects of lightening and darkening are not the same.

• Lightened or highlighted hair has been stripped of its color to achieve a lighter shade, which may eventually leave it feeling dry. To help revive hair structure, making it feel noticeably soft, smooth and luminous, Monahan recommends washing daily with Dove Advanced Color Care For Lightened or Highlighted Hair.

• Hair colored darker or similar to its natural shade may eventually lose its luster and new color-coated feel. To preserve the smoothness and softness of hair and enhance color quality, Monahan recommends washing daily with Dove Advanced Color Care For Hair Colored Darker or Similar to its Natural Shade.

The different things women do to their hair require different kinds of care. Whether women style their hair with brushes or flatirons, they could be damaging it slightly or more severely. Colorers should know that the effects of lightening and darkening are not the same.

Damage: How to Hydrate

• More than three-quarters of women (76 percent) think their hair is at least somewhat damaged.

• Deep conditioning is an important part of keeping hair healthy, but many women ignore the telltale signs that their locks are in need of such attention. Roughness, dryness, brittleness and frizz are just some of the symptoms of dry hair that signal the need for extra care.

• Applying a deep conditioning mask will help repair the damaged hair by intensely hydrating hair and reducing breakage. Women should choose one that is right for their hair type.

Styling: Ride the Waves

• Stop fighting nature! Rather than combating curls and spending time straightening hair with a flatiron, women can cut down on their daily beauty routines by embracing their natural waves.

• To prevent frizz during the drying process, try not to touch or scrunch hair.

• If time permits, dry hair overnight and maximize waves by twisting hair into a bun and securing with a cloth hair band to prevent kinking. In the morning, let hair down and smooth waves with a lightweight styling cream to finish the look.

Diamond is Forever and Eternity

Diamond is perceived as the most precious of all precious stones and is peerless. It is a womans best friend and a symbol of love. It shines and glitters and symbolizes purity and strength.

In ancient times, a diamond was considered to be a sign of magic, sanctity, healing, energy, happiness, beauty, and longevity when used, but the saying goes that a diamond is poison when consumed. It was known for its goodness and power to remove all evil. In todays world, a diamond is regarded as a status symbol, an ornament of beauty worn by the rich and depicts a luxurious lifestyle.

A diamond is forever. You would have heard this. The reason for this saying is because it is the hardest natural material and very difficult to break. It is also a good conductor of heat and a nonconductor of electricity. It is another form of dark carbon.

Time was when diamond jewelry was only seen in royal portraits or in the beautifully designed catalogues and books. Today, sales of diamonds have taken a dramatic upward turn with branded diamond jewelry being available to millions of women. This treasured stone of romance and power has become very popular over the centuries.

A diamond is available in all shapes and colors, in fact more so than other gems. The weight measurement of a diamond is the carat. The larger the diamond, the more the carat. Big sized diamonds are a rarity and the value increases as the size gets bigger.

Diamond jewelry is the most expensive types of jewelry. Diamond pendants and rings are a craze, especially engagement rings. Diamonds are usually set in gold, white gold, silver, or platinum, the latter being more expensive. The combination of pearls and diamonds is a delight to the eyes.

The rarest things in the world, next to a spirit of discernment, are diamonds and pearls.
By ~Jean de la Bruyere

There are several innovative ways that diamonds are being used, which includes imbedding them in watches too. These watches though expensive are a great gift for big occasions for loved ones when you are on the lookout for expensive gifts.

Grading of diamonds is something the one needs to know. The colors are graded from D to Z, with the lesser color being higher in value. Color D is the rarest and is colorless with a blue tinge. Since colors filter light, the reflected light is less than a colorless diamond.

For the sake of some light hearted talk on diamonds, lets delve into some superstitions that were prevalent earlier on. Diamonds that have a red or yellow hue were thought to be good for a king, because they were considered auspicious.
The white hued diamond was said to be perfect for anything religious or spiritual. The yellow hued one was said to be the one for prosperity and success. Black hue was thought to be suitable for those that are in smaller jobs. Women who wanted to give birth to sons were asked to wear a white diamond with a small black hue. It was also stressed that one should never wear a blemished diamond as it brings bad luck to the person wearing it. All these may sound like unbelievable superstitions to the nonbeliever, but these were followed quite strictly earlier. But then if you go to see, even in the modern world, in some countries, many people will not wear a diamond unless they get it checked to see if it is the right one for them.

Interesting facts arent they. A diamond has an indescribable aura surrounding it, and it is fascinating to learn about it.

How to Treat Your Feet When Traveling

They say getting there is half the fun. But if you anticipate long hours on the road, on the tracks or in the air, getting there can be the worst part of your trip.

Chalk it up to tight transportation quarters or cramped positions. In fact, inactivity and sitting in one position for prolonged periods, as many people do while traveling, can stiffen muscles and hinder circulation. This inactivity can also cause health problems such as swelling of the feet and blood clots in the legs.

Finding relief and relaxation during your journey - and at your destination - can be as simple as knowing how to treat your feet. Moving and stretching your feet and legs and wearing proper footwear can help keep your circulation in check.

Give your feet - and yourself - a little tender loving care with these simple travel tips from the American Podiatric Medical Association.

* Work out right in your seat. Sprinting through the aisle may be out of the question, but physical activity is possible without irking other passengers, thanks to simple foot exercises.

Rotate each foot several times clockwise and counterclockwise, then repeat. Flex your toes up and down, working your calves. If room permits, try raising each knee, holding it there for a few seconds and tensing your thigh muscle. Or, simply wiggle your toes.

* Stay mobile. On a plane, when the pilot invites you to move about the cabin, take him up on it. Experts recommend stretching your legs and walking around at least once an hour. Request an aisle seat, if possible, to facilitate movement.

* Wear comfortable footwear. While traveling, loosen your shoelaces or take off your shoes. To keep swollen feet at bay during long flights, try wearing supportive elastic stockings. Pack supportive shoes and socks, especially if your vacation calls for plenty of sightseeing on foot.

If a special evening calls for high heels, wear heels no higher than 1.5 inches. Heed podiatrists' rule of thumb: the wider the heel, the more support. For men, a pair of quality oxfords offers comfort during a night of dancing.

What should you do with new shoes that haven't been broken in? It's best to leave them at home.

* Cool your heels. Pack a spa kit for your feet, complete with foot lotion for a soothing massage, a foot brush and pedicure materials for use after a full day of walking around.

Ingredients...Are You Getting Your Money's Worth?

Have you ever purchased commercial lotions or soaps that claimed to contain natural ingredients or some other moisturizer only to determine that you've wasted your money? If you said yes to this question, you're not alone. The commercial cosmetics industry list natural ingredients of aloe vera and here lately shea butter on their product labels to satisfy the consumers quest for natural products. You may even pay more for the inclusion of natural ingredients, but are you getting your money's worth

Keep the following in mind when purchasing products that make specific claims on the label:

1) The Fair Packaging and Labeling Act requires that ingredients be listed in descending order of quantity. This means which ever ingredient makes up the bulk of the product should be listed first; therefore, If you're looking for a shea butter product, look for that ingredient towards the top of the ingredient list.

2) Natural means that ingredients are extracted directly from plants or animal products as opposed to being produced synthetically. Supposedly there is no proof that natural ingredients are better for the skin, but I can certainly tell the difference when using all natural bath oil verses the 100% mineral oil (a synthetic derived from petroleum), I've used in the past.

3) Hypoallergenic on cosmetic labeling claims the product will most likely not cause a allergic reaction. When you read terms "dermatologist-tested," "nonirritating," and other statements that imply the product has been tested isn't a guarantee that you won't have an allergic reaction.

4) Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA) are the ingredients used in products that claim to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Always use caution when applying these ingredients by testing a small area first to determine if a reaction will occur. You should also avoid the sun and use a sunscreen when using AHA.

5) Soap as you know it, is actually a snythetic detergent bar regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and is not required to meet FDA regulations unless it claims to do something other than cleanse. If the soap claims to be a deodorant soap it is considered cosmetic and must abide by FDA regulations. If it reduces dandruff or makes some other medical claim it must be considered a drug, carry the required drug labeling and also meet FDA safety and effectiveness requirements. I've used handmade soaps for some time and don't experience the skin dryness as when I've used commercial soaps. This is because handmade soaps retain natural glycerin, a humectant which attracts moisture to your skin, whereas the commercial soaps remove the glycerin to use in more profitable products.

Keep in mind that typically handmade bath and body products contain a higher percentage of natural ingredients. Whether you purchase commercial or "natural" products, I encourage you to shop around as all products are not created equal. Know what to look for regarding ingredients and how they are listed to determine if you are getting your money's worth. Take into consideration how the product makes your skin feel, does it dry your skin or does it feel soft and moisturized.

This article is not meant to bash commercial products, but should serve to help you make an informed decision concerning products and what you're actually getting.

Watches Time Pieces Of Eternity

Many centuries ago, man was able to tell the time by looking at the sun and its position in the sky. Then came the sundial and finally the clocks and watches.
The actual purpose of the watch as we all know is to tell us the time, date, month, and day. With the introduction of modern trends, it came to be known more for its ornamental value than anything else. The once steel watch was transformed to Gold, silver, platinum, and white gold. The plain Jane unisex watch did a makeover to look grand with the studding of precious gems that glitter and sparkle on the wrist of both genders. Time never felt or looked better.

Like with everything else, watches have evolved with time. There are mechanical watches, battery, solar, and kinetic powered watches. Mobile watch, ie. the wristwatch was popularized and materials used for the straps are all metals, including materials like leather. Sapphire crystals are used in watches to improve the quality and durability. Electronic watches with quart movements are mainly used these days. They do not need batteries and get charged with movement of the wrist. A mechanical watch does need winding up but lasts longer.

Before the advent of the wristwatch, all mobile watches that could be carried around were pocket watches. They were attached to a chain or rope and were kept in the pocket.

Coming to the current trend, a watch can do more than tell time. Some watches have a GPS or MP3 player in them and some are in fact mini computers. They also calculate for us, we can take pictures, and watch movies. Stopwatches are used for sports and they tell us the time down to the tenth of a second. Watches with heart rate monitors are exercise watches that will monitor and let us know the heart rate while we exercise.

Now, people also look at the style and design of the watch. There are specific watches made for different purposes. There are the diving watches and sports watches that are waterproof. Watches talk of us and bring forth our personality. Choosing the right watch based on our need and requirement is important. For a collector of time pieces, he would be looking at the uniqueness of the metal or precious gems used or the intricacy of the design. Similarly, youngsters would look for watches that make a fashion statement with lots of new features.

Antique time pieces are found in antique stores worldwide and are a collectors joy. It is important to buy them from well-known makers and reliable stores, especially if one is looking for a very expensive stone studded one. For the regular watch, they are found everywhere these days, on the streets, small stores, exhibitions, or malls.

Brand is the main thing people look for while buying a watch as a fashion accessory.
Cartier, Rolex, Seiko, Omega, Swatch. Casio, Tag Heuer are a few of the top watch brands that are famous for their quality, look, and design. Some of them stock jeweled watches studded with precious gems like diamonds and other gems, that gives the watch an unusual and elegant look. They have thousands of varieties in mens and womens watches. This beautiful time piece given as a gift is timeless and can be gifted to anyone close to us.

Is the herbal way the right way?

More and more people are opting to live the herbal life: moving away from chemicals and scientific medicines, and taking traditional herbs to do everything from losing weight to relieving pain. They are often remedies that have been used in communities for hundreds or even thousands of years, and have now been taken for sale worldwide because of the peoples claims about their powers.

The last few decades have seen an explosion in the popularity of herbs and alternative medicine in general, as people increasingly seek miracle cures that can help them when their doctor or regular pharmacy cannot. The connection to traditional communities also appeals to those who want to go back to a more spiritual, myth-based way of life, instead of testing everything in a laboratory. It is also often believed that using herbs instead of chemicals can avoid the potential side effects of putting lots of synthetic substances into the body.

Many people, however, say that herbal remedies are just a load of mumbo-jumbo, designed to sell gullible people some useless plants at premium prices. When the herbs do have some effect, it is put down to them being a placebo. This means that the act of taking the herb that makes you feel like you should feel better, and so you do, even if there was nothing in the herb itself to make that happen.

Most scientists, however, do not hold extreme opinions either for or against the herbal lifestyle, instead preferring to study each herb to see which are useless and which may actually have some benefit. This leads to the situation where many herbal shops stock herbs that have been proven to do nothing side-by-side with ones that do a situation that is often criticised, with many calling for greater regulation of herbal medicines. Taking the wrong herbs can even be dangerous to some people, especially people who are already taking prescribed medicines.

Indoor Tanning Beds

tanning beds,indoor tanning beds,tanning saloons,tanning sessions,artificially tanning,UV light,UV r

Indoor tanning beds are used for artificially tanning the skin. Limited exposure to sunlight makes the skin healthy because it absorbs vitamin D from UV rays. However exposure to sunlight for a long period increases the danger of sunburn. Tanning is useful in avoiding sunburn as it is your bodys natural way to protect against it.

Tanning bed types:

Indoor tanning beds come in a variety of prices and designs. You should choose the one suitable for your skin type. Tanning beds use bulbs for providing UV rays. The intensity of the bulbs can be altered according to your need.

Indoor tanning using tanning beds is the way to get a moderate tanning from which you can get maximum benefits. Tanning beds provide a way to moderate tanning because you can control the amount of UV light. That kind of control is not possible outdoors because the intensity of light depends on a lot of factors such as season, time of day, reflective surface, altitude etc. Indoor tanning beds can be regulated to act differently on different type of skin providing the maximum benefit of tanning.

Too much exposure to UV radiation can be harmful and UVB rays can cause sunburn which in turn can cause skin cancer. It is therefore advisable to use professional tanning facilities and approved and tested tanning beds.

In tanning saloons tanning sessions are done by schedules present on the equipment. The tanning bed takes into account the type of skin and intensity of light which minimizes the risk of sunburn.

Benefits of Indoor Tanning beds:

Indoor tanning beds can help in...

1. Tanning your skin which minimizes the risk of sunburn.

2. Maximizing the benefits of getting a tan that best suits your type of skin.

Moderate sun exposure is the best way to maximize the potential benefits of being in sun light.

It also advisable to also use tanning beds in moderation, making sure that there is professional and knowledgeable staff that will be able to advise you on the best way to use a tanning bed.

The advise given here is for home use as well as use in a tanning saloon.

Breast Enlargement, Feeling A Little Perkier?

In today's society its often hard to tell what is fake and what is not. Any woman whether they are 17 or 67 may have had breast enlargement surgery and as good as the surgeons are getting now-a-days you just can't tell the difference. Any way I am going to tell you a little bit about the process and recovery to this now common image enhancing procedure.

Breasts for ages have been a sign of femininity and sexuality. The funny thing is that it seems like a "the other side is greener" sort of phenomena. women without large breasts want larger more voluptuous curves and women with large breasts often feel self conscious about them or are annoyed because they get in the way, or experience back pain or neck pain caused by the extra stress of having to hold extra weight up in the front. So what to we do? Well we surely don't just accept the way God made us do we? No, we either add more of what we want or cut off what we don't like. The problem with this attitude is that it forgets that surgery is surgery and there is risk.

The risks of any surgery are bleeding, infection, and bad reactions to anesthesia. Ultimately you are increasing your risk of death any time you go under the knife. So you have to decide whether it is worth dying for to look good, and how much risk you are willing to take. After you get past that mental hurdle, then you can concentrate on the specific procedures involved in breast enlargement.

Breast enlargement surgery basically involves 3 steps. First you have to decide on the size that you want. There are many different software packages that cosmetic surgeons have that can give you an idea of what a certain size implant will look like on you. The second step is then making space under your skin in which will eventually be place the implant. This involves cutting in and carefully placing a expansion implant in underneath the existing breast. This is a contraption that has a port through with the surgeon will inject saline every several days until the skin has been stretched enough to introduce the previously selected implant. The time is variable for this process depending on the change in the size of original versus desired size, but can often take several weeks with frequent office visits to get the implant injected. This process is often painful, especially at the end as the skin is stretched tighter than a drum over the expansion implant.

When the breast skin and underlying tissue has been stretched adequately then it is time to introduce the implant. Implants can either be silicone or sterile saline. Each has different appearance and texture qualities as well as durability ratings. There was an issue with silicone implants some time ago as it was alleged that broken silicone implants were causing increased risk for rheumatologic disease. This has since been debunked but not before several large cases went through the courts awarding the "victims" with millions of dollars. Once the implants are in place they are sewn in under the fascia to keep them in place. Then a good surgeon will spend some time making sure that everything is symmetric and the creases beneath each breast are in the proper location. And tada, the breast enlargement has been accomplished!

New Cosmetic Product Makes Wrinkles Almost Invisible to the Naked Eye!

Watch this recent ABC News clip and see the results for yourself! An ndependent news organization persuaded two volunteers to try the product and tell them what they thought about it!

What's going on here?

Is this some kind of magic? No, -it's not magic. It's science which seems like magic.

The main ingredient in Deception is made from something called "emu oil". I'll tell you about emu oil in a moment... but first... let me tell you what creates the "magic" effect.

This is the best triple-refined emu oil in the world. And, an extra ingredient is added to it while it is being made into a cream. This extra ingredient is a suspension of superfine silicon dioxide nanoprisms which has been "fractionated" instead of powderized. That means instead of turning into flakes when it is processed... it turns into...

Billions of Microscopic Three-Dimensional Nanoprisms! So what?

Here's "so what." Almost nobody knows this... but... the human eye cannot see a wrinkle. What the eye sees is actually the shadow made by the wrinkle. And, since all those billions of microscopic nanoprisms refract light, when you use Deception...

There are No Shadows to See!

This effect will last until you wash your face and the invisible silicon dioxide is removed. And get this: Remember how I told you the main ingredient in this cosmetic cream is made from emu oil? Well, it turns out emu oil is probably the best cosmetic ingredient in the world. That's because its molecules are much smaller than the molecules in human skin. Because of this, emu oil can...

Penetrate Down Through Seven Layers of Human Skin!

This makes it the best moisturizer in the world.

And here's more good news! The reason you get wrinkles in the first place is, as you get older, you start losing the collagen in your skin. Can you guess what emu oil does?

Troublesome Dry Skin

Dry skin can be a blessing but more often it is troublesome. Those with dry skin generally need not worry about blemishes except for the occasional stray that appears from hormonal changes or stress. But dry skin looks dull and flaky. And worse, it can emphasize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Age and the environment are two factors that contribute to this skin type. Over time, the sebaceous glands within the dermis layer slow their production of sebum, the body's natural moisturizer. The skin's ability to retain moisture also lessens as we grow older. This is caused by the breakdown of the intracellular matrix, the collagen and elastin layer that helps hold skin tissue together. When this layer begins to break apart, it becomes more difficult for skin to hold in moisture. As moisture escapes, skin becomes drier.

Other causes of dry skin include climates that are arid, windy and dry. Use of harsh soaps and detergents and too much unprotected exposure to the sun's damaging rays can also negatively influence skin. Genetics plays a role as well.

How do I know I have dry skin?

First consider where you live. Windy areas and areas with low humidity cause dryness by stripping skin of its natural oils. Living in areas where winters are cold causes skin trouble as well. Even if you don't spend much time outdoors, interior heaters as well as air conditioning units in hot, dry climates can sap the air of moisture and cause dry skin.

Visible indicators of dry skin include skin that flakes easily. Plus, dry skin often looks tight and taut because pore openings are very tiny. If you don't yet see these tell-tale signs of dry skin but you're at or approaching mid-life, it's time to start looking.

Caring for dry skin

If you have dry skin, proper care involves retaining as much moisture as possible. One way is to avoid using products containing alcohol because alcohol dries. Recommended ingredients for dry skin include alpha hydroxy, lactic acids, petroleum, lanolin and glycerin so take time to read product labels.

Dry skin won't always feel like it needs to be cleansed, but it does, twice daily, morning and night. Using a gentle cleanser made especially for skin that's dry, cleanse using warm, not hot water. Finish off with a cool rinse. It's never a good idea to use hot water to clean any type of skin or to soak in a tub because doing so will only strip skin of its natural oils.

After washing your skin, pat it dry using a soft towel. Then apply a light moisturizer. Those containing Vitamin E are excellent choices. If you wear make-up choose foundations that contain the moisturizing ingredients mentioned above.

Help keep skin hydrated by drinking water and increasing your consumption of high water content foods such as cucumbers and watermelon. Most fruits and vegetables are excellent hydrating foods plus they're excellent sources of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Antioxidants are crucial in helping maintain the skin's intracellular matrix.

Essential Hair Accessory Tips

In the 80s, the hair accessory was invaluable. Almost every style involved some sort of hair accessory or embellishment to really set it off. Today, the hair accessory is not a part of everyday style and care should be taken as to when and how to use the hair accessory so that you will not look dated.

With that said, there are some occasions that scream for hair accessories: Work, social occasions and formal events may all have you searching for the perfect hair accessory to set off your look. While different occasions will call for different hair accessories, a good rule of thumb to follow is to choose the sedate hair accessory over one that could not go unnoticed in a crowd of a few hundred or a few thousand.

While choosing the right one can be tricky, there are a few pointers that you can follow to help you pick the perfect hair accessories to complete your look. Here are just a few:

"Work. In many work situations, you will likely have to wear your hair up. No matter if your type of employment requires it or you simply like to change your look now and then, wearing your hair up calls for the right hair accessory to do the job. The number one rule to finding the right hair accessory for work is to avoid banana clips at all costs. I mean, who still makes these things? Apparently they're making money at it or they wouldn't still be producing these torture devices of the 80s. Don't further their cause: stop buying this hair accessory. The second rule is to choose hair accessories that closely match your hair color or that blend nicely with it. Matching a hair accessory to your clothes is only cute when you are 5-years-old. What you choose will depend largely on your length of hair and how you like to wear your hair up. For French twists, choose hair accessories that resemble over-sized hair clips. Simply twist and clip.

"Social and formal occasions. In social and formal occasions you have a greater opportunity to express your artsy side through hair accessories. Again choose sedate pieces over garish hair accessories. Classy pieces can be perfect for social occasions, whereas a little sprig of flowers or garnishment may be needed for formal occasions. Formal occasions are the only time that is okay to match your hair accessory to your clothing. But still, do not go overboard. What attracts the eye should be the beauty of your hair, not too-busy hair accessories. If in doubt about what hair accessory or how much of it to include, opt for the simple solution: use as little as possible.

The bottom line with hair accessories is that too much of a good thing can confuse the eye and make your do look garish. Simple hair accessories, on the other hand, can make a bold beauty statement that makes your hair the talk of the office or party.

Anti Wrinkle Cream

Although wrinkles can be signs of experience and wisdom, most people would rather not have them
.
However, skin ages all over the body, but much more so where there has been sun exposure. Changes brought on by sun damage include "dryness", sagginess, skin growths and wrinkles. These are found primarily on the parts of the body where sun exposure is greatest. These areas especially include the face, neck, the backs of the hands, and the tops of the forearms.

But, why do wrinkles appear? How does our skin get old?

As a person ages the epidermal cells become thinner and less sticky. The thinner cells make the skin look noticeably thinner. The decreased stickiness of the cells decreases the effectiveness of the barrier function allowing moisture to be released instead of being kept in the skin. This causes dryness.

The number of epidermal cells decreases by 10% per decade and they divide more slowly as we age making the skin less able to repair itself quickly. The effects of aging, on the dermal layer are significant. With the years, not only the dermal layer gets thinner, also less collagen is produced and the elastin fibers that provide elasticity wear out. These changes in the scaffolding of the skin cause the skin to wrinkle and sag.

In the subcutaneous layer, the fat cells get smaller with age. This leads to more noticeable wrinkles and sagging, as the fat cells cannot "fill in" the damage from the other layers.
There are also some factors that promote wrinkles:

Smoking
Skin type (people with light-colored skin and blue eyes are more susceptible to sun damage)
Heredity (some families wrinkle more)
Hairstyle (depending on how much skin is covered by hair and protected from the sun)
Dress (again, by determining which skin is exposed)
Occupational and recreational sun exposure over the course of many years

Although prevention is the easiest way to fight wrinkles, we cannot avoid the reality that indeed, we are all aging, but with these guidelines we can hope that, at least, we will age with grace:

Plan a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. This is not only beneficial to the skin, but to the whole body as well.

If you do smoke, stop. If you do not, best for you, but do avoid places where a lot of people smoke, t can affect your skin and your health as well.

Drink plenty of water always. At least eight glasses of water is recommended in a day.

If you think you don't get enough vitamins from what you eat, take vitamin supplements.

Take care of your skin every day, wash and moisturize daily.

Stay away from the sun and when outdoors, use sunscreen.

Have a happy outlook in life. Studies show that stress and anxiety can affect the skin. Stay happy always.

The eternal promise of youth can be seen in the innumerable products and procedures advertised in books, magazines, and other media that promise "younger-looking skin." But, many claims for such youth-enhancing methods are unfortunately overblown or entirely nonexistent.

Still, effective techniques for softening and even removing wrinkles do exist. There are new products in the market that have shown good results: those containing SKIN REGENERATING ACTIVATORS, that both get rid of damaged cells and trigger their replacement with new healthy skin cells produced from within the deep layers of your skin.

One is BIO SKIN CARE cream, which contains a natural biological ingredient, collected from live land snails, the same they use to quickly repair their own skin and shell when damaged. It is contained in the mucin secreted by the snails, and gathered through a process that is safe for them. The active ingredient in the product is a complex of Glycoproteins that gently eliminate worn out cells, while at the same time triggering the reproduction of new collagen and elastin cells, resulting in a coordinated biological regulation of the skin renewal process and thus advanced skin rejuvenation.

How To Do Linear Color And Other Funky Color Techniques

Hair, hairstyle, beauty, fashion

At home hair color is a million-dollar business, but there are some services that at-home hair color cannot provide. These services include new and funky techniques used by stylists to create custom styles and looks. But if you know how to do the techniques, you can do them yourself without having to set foot in a salon. Here are just a few of the latest salon color trends and how to do them yourself:

Slicing

Slicing is probably the easiest highlighting technique for you to master at home. The look is very trendy and is identified by a few chunky highlights around the face or in the front of the hair. To use this technique on your hair, make 1, 2, or 3 horizontal partings across the top of the head. The partings should be to thick and be spaced no less than 1 apart.

Next, work your color through the section of parted hair making sure that you saturate the hair thoroughly. Failure to do so can result in uneven or splotchy color. Process according to directions, rinse, shampoo and dry.

Tipping

Tipping is a great color technique to use if you have short or heavily textured hair. All you need to do is mix up your chosen color according to the directions. Next, use your fingers to apply color to the last of your hair length. Use a comb dipped in color to add extra interest and color to selected parts of your cut. The best places to comb on color is in the bangs and top layers.

Linear

Linear color was made famous by Christina Aguilera. While Christinas color was wild and contrasting, this technique is also used in more subtle hues to create classic looks. To do linear color at home you will need two different hair colors with the same tonal values. The difference in color can be as little as a shade or two or be drastic.

To start the process of linear color, you first need to create your partings. Begin at the occipital bone (the most prominent bone in the back of the skull) and start a zigzag pattern from ear to ear. The zigzags should be narrow and deep. Pin the top part of your hair up onto the crown. Next, continue the zigzag parting around the perimeter of the head. Note: You should not have a solid line of hair parted around the front of the face and hairline. The parting should leave only a few wisps of hair here and there free.

Using your darker color, apply color to the underneath section of hair and the lower section of hair around the face. Apply the lighter color to the entire upper section. Process according to instructions.

As with all color techniques, the partings are crucial when trying out these tricks for yourself. So, pay extra attention to your partings. If they dont look right, do them over before applying color.

Types of Contact Lens

Since the introduction of contact lenses years ago, the eye product has gone through various changes and innovations to meet the needs of the consumers. There are now more than ten types of contact lenses each with its own characteristics. You can get a prescription from an eye doctor and decide on your own which specific brand and type of lenses you want. If you find the task difficult, you can also ask the doctor for his suggested brands and contact lens type. The following are the types of contact lenses you can use depending on your needs and preferences:

Daily wear soft lenses made of soft polymer plastic, these contact lenses allow oxygen to pass through providing a higher level of comfort than rigid gas permeable lenses. Disposable soft lenses fall also under this category. They are called daily wear contact lenses because they require daily cleaning. Although most daily wear soft lenses are disposable there are also those that can be worn for one whole year. Disadvantages of these types of lenses include: easy absorption of oils and lotions from your hand which can irritate your eyes and also less durability than hard lenses

Disposable soft lenses- disposable soft lenses can be worn up to two weeks. They still require daily cleaning but they are not designed to last you months.

Daily wear disposable lenses- daily disposable lenses are lenses which you can only use for one day. They are discarded at days end. Although daily disposables are more affordable than yearly lenses, expenses can add up when you buy a years worth of disposable lenses. Using daily wear disposable lenses lowers your risk to eye infections.

Colored Soft Lenses- Colored soft lenses are perfect for those who want a fresh look. They serve the same purpose as color contact lenses except they do come in different tints. Some colored lenses contain tints not for aesthetic purposes. These light-filtering tinted lenses are for athletes or sports enthusiasts.

Extended-wear lenses- Extended-wear lenses are contact lenses that can be worn for several weeks, usually 30 days without having to remove them. They can come in either soft or gas permeable types. They are perfect for busy people who do not have the time to clean their lenses at the end of each day.

Daily wear rigid gas permeable lenses- these contact lenses are made of plastic that are not as soft or as absorbent as soft contact lenses but they allow oxygen to pass through them. They dont tear as easily as soft lenses do but they can take a few weeks to get used to. These type of lenses also require daily cleaning.
Bifocal contact lenses are solutions for those who are suffering from presbyopia.

Toric Contact Lenses- this type of lenses are used to correct astigmatism. These contact lenses are also bi-focal. And can be made from soft lenses or gas permeable materials.

Orthokeratology lenses- these lenses are used for improving vision problems caused by the corneas shape. These lenses when worn overnight adjust the shape of the cornea so that the individual can have food eyesight the following day for up to 12 hours.

Permanent Makeup Important Facts

With so many people having so much to do during the day, we are always looking for ways to cut down on our time. For women, one very time-consuming activity is applying makeup each morning, or even several times per day. One way to help can be by utilizing permanent makeup.

Permanent makeup can be a wonderful choice for women who play sports, have many things to do each day, are allergic to many cosmetic products, or just want to spend less time and money on the entire process. Permanent makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is becoming quite popular, but there are things you should know before having the procedure done.

When having permanent makeup applied, the process, also called micropigmentation, includes applying dies under the skin that give the illusion that a woman is wearing eyeliner, eyebrow pencils, lip liners, and even lipstick. If done correctly by a highly trained professional, a woman can achieve a very natural look.

A woman deciding whether or not permanent makeup will be right for her should look into all the options. She should do a lot of research and understand that there are many advantages, as well as disadvantages, to having such a permanent procedure done on her face.

One advantage is definitely the time issue. Not having to apply makeup each day is a real time saver. But, you wont have the option of varying your makeup shades since only one shade is able to be tattooed onto your skin.

But the disadvantage of permanent makeup is that, as with any type of surgical procedure, there are risks. You should always consult with your doctor, as well as verifying the credentials of the person who will apply the permanent makeup, before you have the procedure done.

If youve decided to go ahead and have permanent makeup applied, there are different types to choose from. You can have eyebrow liner applied to help with sparse eyebrows, you can have eyeliner applied to help your eyelashes look thicker, and you can even have lip liner or lipstick applied so you never have to worry about pale lips again.

Another option is dying your lashes. This is great for women who suffer from near-sightedness, are athletes, or even women who are always on the go. It is also a great alternative to mascara for those women who have makeup allergies or a shaky hand.

Remember, when choosing to have permanent makeup applied to your face, there are several things that you should be aware of. The inks and dyes that are used to when permanent makeup is applied are known as color additives. Most surprisingly, none of them have ever been approved for use as permanent makeup.

Currently, the FDA is in the process of evaluating the safety of having permanent makeup applied. Their biggest concern is the use of unsterile equipment that can transmit quite infectious diseases, therefore all equipment must be clean and sanitized.

Lastly, unlike with a regular tattoo, permanent makeup can not be removed easily, and, in some cases, permanent discoloration can occur.

BOTOX Injections

Not everyone is willing to undergo surgery, whether it be a life-saving procedure or a cosmetic surgical one. More often than not, these people who are deathly afraid of any form of surgery are composed of individuals who swoon every time they see an injection needle, a scalpel, or anything sharp slowly coming into contact with their skin.

Luckily for those who want to improve their looks through cosmetic surgery procedures, but are scared senseless of the idea of an actual operation, a wide array of non-surgical options are now open to them. One of the most popular, if not the most popular, non-surgical cosmetic procedures these days are BOTOX injections.

BOTOX cosmetic is the trade name for botulinum toxin A. Simply put, BOTOX is a toxin. Not just any toxin, but a toxin that is a by-product of botulism, a form of food poisoning. Not too many people realize that the wildly popular cosmetic treatment is in reality a poisonous substance. How did it come to this? A lot of people may be wondering why anyone would want something as poisonous as botulinum toxin type A injected into their bodies.

Heres a bit of a history about how BOTOX came about. In the 1950s, researchers stumbled upon the fact that minute injections of botulinum toxin type A can help decrease the activity of muscles deemed to be overactive.

Eventually, botulinum toxin type A was packaged as BOTOX . Initially, however, BOTOX was intended to treat eye muscle disorders such as misaligned eyes and blepharospasm or uncontrollable blinking. But it was only a matter of time before its cosmetic benefits were discovered. Doctors realized this when they reported that the frown lines between the eyebrows of patients appeared to soften after treatments.

This is primarily because botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin which basically blocks the signals that would normally tell your muscles to contract. Simply put, BOTOX causes paralysis in the specific muscles that are injected with it. And if an area of the body cant move, it cannot wrinkle. Thus, its cosmetic surgery benefits.

Numerous men and women now consider BOTOX injections as part of their regular beauty regimens. And more and more people are getting hooked on it because it really does remove unwanted wrinkles, unsightly neck bands, and ugly crows feet. As a matter of fact, BOTOX injections are now so commonplace that people now hold so-called BOTOX parties, a social gathering where participants get their BOTOX fixes.

Whats more, BOTOX can also be used to treat various ailments, including cervical dystonia, excessive sweating and migraines. However, people should still do research on the popular treatment in order for them to make an informed decision on whether to undergo the procedure or not.
