Make The Switch To Natural Skin Care

There are so many things to keep track of for people who are honestly concerned about their health and well being. We have to think about the things we are eating, the portions we are eating, how much and what kind of exercise we are getting, and how well we are sleeping. There is so much to keep track of lately that I honestly had never given my skin care regimen much thought until I recently met with my dermatologist and closest friend. He suggested that the single most important key to better health for me was making the switch to a natural skin care system.

As soon as he said 'natural skin care' I'll admit that I was preparing myself to hear something really hippy and wacky from my friend. I thought that he was going to give me some special seeds that would eventually grow into special plants that I could then rub all over my face and that would be my natural skin care method. I was wrong. My friend and I began discussing the wisdom of taking the time to put healthy and natural products into our bodies but then not taking the time to care about the products we were using on the outside of our bodies.

I had never thought much about the skin care products I was using on my skin, but I guarentee you that I never once thought to make the change to natural skin care products of any kind. I only thought about the immediate and visible affects of a product on my skin, I never took time to care about the affects that I wasn't seeing or about the long term affects of a skin care system on my skin.

Meeting with my dermatologist that day changed how I'd forever view my skin. He said to think about the ingredient list on the container of any product as a prescription. He said that I was putting all of those products on my body and that many of them were soaking in well beneath my skin. I should be just as concerned with what I am putting on my body as I am with what I'm putting in my body. So he and I came up with a great natural skin care system to use.

I've been using all natural skin care products on my skin for the past few months now. And while I honestly cannot tell that much difference in the way my skin looks, I am confident that I am doing the inside of my body a huge favor every time I choose natural skin care over other options.

Learn How to Shower To Keep Your Skin Healthy

Everyday you wash, shave, shampoo, clip your nails, wash, and dry your hair. Personal grooming, for most people, is a series of well-entrenched habits. And in most cases it is over done. Would you be willing to change your routine if doing so made your skin look more attractive and created a better-looking you?

Most adults whom are over thirty commit one big mistake when it comes to washing: The do too much of it. They shower in the morning, another after the gym, maybe even one before bedtime. If you spend twelve minutes in the shower, that's too long. Cut your time in the shower to five minutes for your skin's sake.

Too much washing results not just in cleanliness but in removing too much oil from your skin, and itchy and irritated skin, particularly in the winter months.

If you are using a shower without a water filter and with the steam build up, you are subjecting yourself and your skin to excess chlorine.

Below are bathing tips that you can benefit from:

1. Avoid using a washcloth on delicate areas, especially the mucous membranes. Do use a soft sponge to massage your skin. Use a glycerine soap and sponge and move in one direction toward your heart.

2. Use medium-warm water in the shower, the cooler the better, but not too cold.

3. If you have normal to dry skin, use Dove Unscented or Basis for Sensitive Skin on your body and either a soap free cleanser or nothing at all on mucous membranes. Do use many of the commercial bar soap, since they are harsh on the skin.

4. If you tend to have oily skin, then use good gylcerine soap. I use this type of soap and it removes just enough oil without drying my skin.

5.Skip a shower as often as you can. This may not seem like appealing advice but the more time you have in between showers the better. Skip a shower for a whole day once or twice a week, especially in the winter. Allow your skin to produce and maintain its natural oils. Or if this does not appeal to you, make your shower extra short on some days.

6.Make sure you use shampoos that contain mostly natural ingredients. A lot of commercial products contain synthetic chemicals, petrochemicals, and various dyes and artificial coloring. All of these un-natural chemicals are extremely bad for you health. Learn which chemicals to avoid.

So that you can improve the health of your skin, takes some time to look over your shower habits, Decrease the time in your shower, use a water filter to remove toxins from the water, massage your skin, and use only natural products for your skin and hair.

Facial Enhancements with Surgical Implants

It goes without saying that the appearance of the human face plays a massive role in interactions between each of us. Implants offer an opportunity to put forth your best side.

Facial Enhancements with Surgical Implants

There are many definitions for plastic surgery. One of the more common is the correction or modification of abnormalities in the body. What exactly constitutes an abnormality is the subject of great debate, to wit, an actual abnormality or something a person subjectively does not care for in their appearance.

Surgical implants used for facial enhancements definitely tend to fall within a more medically determined definition of plastic surgery. The implants are often used to address imperfections that are both subjectively perceived and physically present from a medical perspective. Seriously small chins and uneven or collapsed cheek bones are a common area of surgical intervention.

Surgical solutions for facial defects are all about reshaping the face to a more traditional structure. The goal could be to increase the size of a chin to create linear balance from side views or to enhance one side of the face to create balance in appearance. Obviously, there are other situations as well. What is not disputed, however, is the emotional and psychological benefit of such enhancements when a serious defect exists.

To reshape a facial area, plastic surgeons will often use implants. The implants can be preset or customized for the particular problem. For individuals with seriously reduced chins, for example, an implant is placed at the point of the chin to create volume and more natural look. The goal in the surgery is to create a more balanced face by moving enhancing the chin in such a way that a view from the side shows a generally uniform slope from forehead to chin.

Facial surgery of this type is surprisingly uncomplicated for the patient. It is often done in less than two hours and hospitalization is rarely required. Generally, patients can return to work in a week and any indication of a surgical procedure can be gone as soon as two weeks after the fact. Obviously, each situation is different so consult with your medical professional to gain an understanding of your situation and the reasonable results that can be expected.

Facial abnormalities, whether perceived or medically significant, can be the crux of confidence problems. If you fall within this classification, do not hesitate to contact a plastic surgeon to discuss the options available to you. Make sure to look at before and after pictures to get a definitive idea of the solutions available.

Breast Enlargement or Augmentation Mammoplasty

Breast enlargement, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery that enhances the upper body contour of a woman who is unhappy with her small breast size. This is perhaps the cosmetic procedure that the public is most familiar with.
Breast enlargement is done by having an implant placed through an incision, under the breast tissue or under the muscle. The incision can be made under the breast, around the nipple or under the arm. A breast implant is composed of an outer silicone shell filled with saline (the use of silicone gel implants are now restricted). The outer surface may be smooth or textured, and implants come in various shapes to meet the individual womans needs.

When the implant is placed under the actual muscle of the breast, there is a lower chance of contracture (contraction of the tissue surrounding the implant), and mammography is more reliable. There is also less risk of visible or palpable implant edges. The down side is that there are some people who believe the implant has a more natural appearance when placed above the muscle, under the breast tissue.

The shape of augmented breasts depends on the implant. Implants can be round or teardrop-shaped (anatomical). The choice depends on the look the female wants to achieve. Anatomical implants produce a gentle slope, resulting in a fuller upper area, whereas round implants create a round curve in the upper part of the breast. Another factor to consider prior to surgery is breast width, which determines the amount of cleavage between breasts and the outer curves.

Realistic expectations are important. Some women often think of breast size in terms of bra cup size. If a size A wanted to be a size C, there still has to be adequate existing breast tissue coverage: otherwise there could be visible or palpable implant edges and other possible risks.

This is a major procedure, and someone undergoing breast augmentation absolutely needs someone to drive her home and stay with you for 24 hours after surgery. There will be pain the first few days, but normal pain pills should take care of this as the body adjusts to the new implants. Wear a bra at all times (except when showering) during the first 2 weeks after surgery. Avoid heavy lifting and avoid even moderate exercise for at least the first week, and then only moderate exercise. During recovery, the breasts will be somewhat swollen. Within a few weeks, the actual shape and size will be evident, and the full success of the procedure will come abundantly clear.

At-Home Beauty Treatments Offer Lower Costs, Lower Risks

There has been an increase recently in Americans' obsessions to look and feel better. Reality makeover programs such as "Extreme Makeover" use cosmetic surgery to erase signs of aging or to change the size and shape of specific body parts. However, for some people, invasive procedures are not an option.

Many are afraid to undergo surgery because of the risks or the expense that is often associated with these cosmetic procedures. Fortunately, there are now products that can be used in the privacy of your own home for a fraction of the cost, are more convenient and offer great results.

For years, those searching to get rid of fine lines and get that healthy glow went to a physician for microdermabrasion, a treatment where dead skin cells are removed with tiny silicon or aluminum-oxide crystals blown against the skin using a hand-held device and then sucked up with a small vacuum. Costing about $1,200 a visit, the procedure was not easy on the wallet. But there's a new generation of at-home alternatives that allows you to get similar results within weeks. Creams and serums that contain Retinol (pure vitamin A) exfoliate the skin, giving a more youthful appearance. Those who want to go a step further can now buy their own high-tech beauty treatment system, a microdermabrasion machine, at a cost of $79.95 (www.sharperimage.com).

Some women are unhappy with the size or shape of their bust. They might have always wished they were a cup size larger so that their clothes fit them better, or they may have noticed changes in their shape after childbirth. Regardless of the reason, many of these women are afraid or unwilling to undergo the pain associated with implants. Others are simply not willing to fork over the average $5,000 cost for surgery. Now there is another option available, a system that is clinically proven to grow a woman's own natural breasts about a cup size without surgery, pills or creams.

These are just a few of the do-it-yourself at home beauty treatments that are easier on your wallet, provide you with more control of your looks and can be done on your own time. To find out more about these treatments, log on to their Web sites or try the procedures yourself for the ultimate proof. - NU

Tanning Tips A Guide to Safe Tanning

Summer time is just around the corner and you want to be ready with that beautiful bronze all-over tan look. Yes I thought so, and who doesnt!

But before heading over to your local tanning salon or taking those tanning pills, there are some essential facts about tanning that everyone ought to know. Tanning is fine but it should be done very carefully and you need to be aware of the risks and dangers associated with the various types of tanning options available to you.

The major danger with sun tanning is the exposure to ultraviolet light. Extended exposure to ultraviolet radiation from whatever source ages the skin. It also has the potential to cause whats known as solar radiation damage, and could also lead to cancer of the skin. So the implications of sun tanning are not something to be taken lightly.

Exposure to ultraviolet light can also be responsible for rashes and sunburn. And it is not regularly known that ultraviolet light can also cause fungal skin infections and contact dermatitis. Indeed whether you are tanning in natural sunlight or using a tanning bed, ultraviolet is present in both, so utmost care is required. You should always bear in mind that there is no such thing as totally safe ultraviolet radiation.

Excessive tanning can result in skin conditions such as melasma, whose telltale sign is brown patches on the face, actinic keratosis (AK), and atypical nevus. And certain medications, including birth control pills, can make your skin more susceptible to sunburn. People with existing skin conditions must therefore take extra care when in the sun.

The intention here isn't to put you off tanning altogether, but to simply put you on your guard to be very careful whilst tanning and to be aware constantly of the degree of risk you are taking. As the saying goes forewarned is forearmed!

Most people, typically women, begin their tanning habit as part of a beauty regime, frequently when quite young. So if you must tan, then lets take a look at the precautions you can take to protect your skin.

The safest way to tan is to do it slowly and gradually over as long a period of time as possible. And always use sunscreen when out in the sun and protective goggles provided in tanning salons. These are two of the fundamental rules you should rigidly stick to.

It is recommended that people with certain skin conditions should use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. But if you do have any pre-existing skin conditions, always consult with your doctor first.

Sunscreen should be applied all over any skin to be exposed at least a half hour before commencing tanning, whether in direct sunlight or in the salon. And if you engage in any outdoor activities for extended periods of time, sunscreen should be applied about every two hours.

However, the news isnt all bad. Indeed sun exposure in moderation can be good for the skin. Sufferers from eczema, pruritus, psoriasis and other skin conditions can actually see improvements with moderate exposure to the sun. But as with everything, tanning sensibly and in moderation is the key.

Of course there are also alternatives to tanning in direct sunlight or using tanning beds. For example sunless tanning is becoming increasingly popular. In sunless tanning, you will enter a room and a machine will spray you with a product that darkens the skin. This spray contains the chemical DHA (an abbreviation for dihydroxyacetone), a substance that gives skin a tan color. This chemical has actually been approved in the United States as safe to use for over twenty-five years.

Obviously sunless tanners are for external use only and when they are being applied, you should ensure that you adequately protect your eyes, nose and other sensitive parts of the body.

You might also have come across tanning pills. These can be found on sale at some tanning salons. However, at least in the United States, they are not currently approved as safe and have been associated with certain types of eye disorders. Some tanning pills have also been linked to liver damage and to urticaria, a skin condition which produces severe itching.

In conclusion, we all want a healthy skin and to look our best in the summer with a beautifully tanned body. Tanning is fine, but do it safely and be aware of how long you are exposed to the sun and harmful ultraviolet radiation. Keep in mind these guidelines and you will be less likely to encounter any serious problems when tanning.

Hair Removal Options: Thermolysis, Electrolysis Or Blend?

You would like to have permanent hair removal. Who wouldnt? But, there are several methods that you can go about getting it, for the most part. While no method can guarantee 100% effectiveness, most of them can do a good deal to help you. When it comes to choosing, youll need to examine your budget, your need for pain as well as your research facts. Here are some of your options specifically electrolysis, thermolysis or a blend.

Electrolysis

In this permanent hair removal technique, the hair is removed directly from the hair follicle. And, in this method, the follicle is destroyed so that the hair can not re-grow. A probe is used and inserted in each and every follicle. The probe uses electrical current to cause a chemical reaction which will then loosen the hair so it can be removed. In fact, it causes a chemical reaction that will change the follicle to lye, a product that will damage it enough to cause permanent hair removal. But, the process takes quite a bit of time since each follicle has to be dealt with individually. This makes it very expensive too. In some cases, youll need more than one treatment.

Option Two: Thermolysis

Here, you get the same basic steps but the difference is heat. The process creates heat which will then destroy the follicle. This of course stops the growth of hair. But, if this procedure is done wrong, you can experience more than just the pain youll get from either of these treatments, but also scarring and burning. Although it is faster, thermolysis is not as effective.

Combine Them: The Blend

Growing in popularity is the blend method of hair removal. Here, the hair is removed through a quick version of electrolysis. Heat is used, though, which means that while the lye is produced and destroys the follicle, the heat makes it happen faster. And, what makes it even more attractive is the fact that it basically works on all types of hair. The blend method is faster, but still costly and painful.

Which To Choose?

It is up to you which method you use for your permanent hair removal. Make sure to visit a skilled professional to do it so that you get a sterilized location with an individual who knows what they are doing as this can make all of the difference. You lower your risks and get a better result when you go with experience.

Cosmetic Dentistry The Changing Face Of Our Smiles

There are a lot of people who are discontented with their look in the world nowadays. Many peoples teeth may have been unpleasant for all of their lives; while others teeth may have grown unattractive due to aging. For many reasons, people have decided to look into cosmetic dentistry as the solution to their unattractive teeth.

Cosmetic dentistry could be considered a dental facelift. It aims to change a persons appearance so they look better and feel more confident. Oftentimes dentists make use of a combination of braces and porcelain veneers to make teeth look and feel better.

Porcelain veneers replace your existing tooth with a better looking one. The Porcelain Laminate Veneers are specially made porcelain wafers that can be placed over your teeth so they look new and white. They come in a variety of shades to match the color of your teeth.

Veneers are also able to correct unattractive smiles, turn around the effects of growing and aging, and make your teeth whiter. A lot of high fashion movie stars use veneers to keep that perfect smile. You can choose from impermanent and permanent veneers, depending on your unique situation. People more often than not wear the impermanent veneers as the permanent ones. When it comes to the price, veneers usually cost several thousand dollars each, depending on the amount of teeth that need modification.

Tooth whitening is another very trendy way to change the look of your teeth. There are actually two types of whitening.

1.First is the at-home whitening which uses about 10 to 20% carbamine peroxide. Impressions of the patients mouth are made in order to make trays of the teeth. The trays are fitted in the patients mouth and hold the carbamine peroxide gel in place on the teeth to be worn during sleep. Time: 1 to 6 weeks.

2.In-office whitening makes use of a high intensity light along with 35% hydrogen peroxide. With this, the patients gums are protected and the whitening process can be finished in just an hour.

Cosmetic dentistry also offers the ultimate help for the gummy smile, a gum lift. This process can get rid of gums in order to make teeth appear longer and improve the smile. Jagged gum lines can make the teeth appear as if they are at different levels and lengths, also making for an unappealing smile.

This procedure in cosmetic dentistry is quick, and patients feel no pain or even any ill effects. Now that you know the ways to improve your smile, the next thing you need to do is to find the best doctor in your area so that you can be on your way to a winning smile.

Three Steps in Applying a Face Tanning Lotion

A sunless tanning lotion is the one you apply all over your body to produce a darker skin color. However, note that when it comes to the face, you cannot apply the same one that you have applied on the other parts of your body. When it comes to tanning the face, you should apply the face tanning lotion.

The face tanning lotion is the one specifically designed for your face because it offers the essential nutrients that your face needs. For one, it contains nutrients that maintain the health of your skin and the proper moisturising ingredients. Hence, the face tanning lotion is not out of the question when you consider tanning your whole body. To properly put on the face tanning lotion, here are three steps that you should follow:

Exfoliate
To properly apply a face tanning lotion, you should check if your face does not contain any traces of makeup, face powder or any other cosmetics. If you still have some, remove them with a makeup remover. Afterwards, do not forget to exfoliate your face. Exfoliation leaves the face perfectly refreshed and clean.

Moisturize
Should you want a more moisturized feel, you can mix a light moisturizing face lotion with the face tanning lotion. However, make sure that the moisturizer is only mixed in small amounts as it can affect the results of the tan. Big amounts of moisturizer can affect the concentration of the face tanning lotion, and thereby make your face appear significantly lighter than the rest of your body.

Apply
The next step is to properly apply the face tanning lotion. The face is the hardest one to apply, and the one that needs most attention. With this, you have to make sure that the tanner is applied evenly throughout your face. Use your fingers to rub circular motions on your face and neck, but make sure to not run your fingers across the eyebrows and the lips. To address this, use a cotton swab to apply the skin near the lip and eyebrow line.

Applying the face tanning lotion on moles and freckles can make them appear darker. It might be impossible to avoid every single mole or freckle, but you might want to at least minimize the effect on the larger ones. Hence, use cotton swabs to avoid the large moles and freckles.

Lastly, some of the tricky parts of the face involve the back of the head and ears. Make sure that your hair is fixed upwards through a ponytail or a shower cap. You might want to ask a friend to apply the face tanning lotion at the back of your ears and neck.

These three steps can bring out the best results when followed religiously. So, after you have perfectly applied the tanning lotions to your face and body, head outside and show-off that flawless, sun-kissed tan!

Plastic Surgeons: How To Decide Who to Work With

There is simply no shortage of plastic surgeons, but choosing the best for oneself can be overwhelming at times. The large metropolises are overflowing with competent plastic surgeons. Some devote themselves towards reconstructive surgery, in order to rectify defects that have arisen from trauma, disease, accident, or congenital anomalies. Others wield their expertise in cosmetic (or aesthetic) surgery to enhance the alluring portions of their patients body. Whatever be your choice of surgery, you must select a surgeon that has loads of experience and expertise in the concerned field.

Having narrowed down on a couple of plastic surgeons, you must arrange an appointment with the surgeon. The agenda of the meeting should involve an elaborate discussion between you and the surgeon. You must have a rough idea of the procedure that the surgeon would perform. The surgeon must clearly explain the possible risks and complications, and their likelihood. The overall cost of the procedure should be settled upon, prior to the surgery. The surgeon should be willing to exhibit photos of his/her earlier patients, including both pre and post-operative imagery.

As a patient, you must crosscheck the credentials of the short-listed surgeons through your states medical board. During initial consultation, you must ensure that the surgeon has plentiful experience dealing with cases similar to yours. Since post-operative care is crucial in the case of plastic surgery, you must make sure that the surgeon is more than willing to aid you in that very endeavor. A comprehensive pre-operative examination can help you gauge if surgery is a beneficial option or not. Reputed surgeons typically present a software simulation that gives an idea about the likely results. Make sure that your surgeon wields the latest sophisticated equipment, since that would lead to a more predictable result.

All in all, success of a plastic surgery depends entirely on the expertise of the surgeon. Therefore, choose a surgeon with extreme prudence.

What is Digital Nail Art?

How is the procedure performed?

After the nails are given a basic manicure, which involves cleaning the nail, removing the cuticle and any dead skin around the edge of the nail.

  • The nails can then be given a base coat (usually a strong white) to enhance a coloured design.
  • Or if the client wishes to have a natural look in the back ground of the design, then no base coat is required.
  • Then the activation coat is applied - this ensures that the design dries quickly.
  • The client chooses their design either from preset designs or from thier own picture - which can be scanned into the computer.
  • After placing the hand into the machine the design can then be printed.

    How long does it take?

The printing itself takes approximately 10 seconds per nail, and depends on the design - sometimes even quicker. The whole process including nail preperation and drying of coats in between can take 15 minutes.

How long do the designs last?

They last as long as a normal nail varnish treatment. With the application of two thin coats of clear nail varnish - paying special attention to the tips, then if you are carefull with your nails, the designs can last up two weeks or longer.

Are the inks and varnishes dangerous?

All the inks and varnishes have been tested to comply with all safety standards and are perfectly safe.

Are your hands safe in the machine?

Your hands are placed insde a special cradle which holds the nails at a safe distance from the printer head. The Printer actually sprays the design onto your nails, so you don't feel a thing. If by any chance, you happened to move your fingers whilst in the machine, the sensitivity of the safety cut out will stop the printing immediately.

Can it print a French Manicure?

Certainly can, just use the white base coat and the machine can print the french manicure with more flair and design than you could ever do with air brushing.

    Can it print toe nails?

Yes, fashion now goes a step further, and the world of design and art is now available for your toes.

Where can I get digital nail art?

At any reputable nail salon, if there isn't a machine in a salon near you, then tell them to get a machine so that you can try it out.

To make the most out of this technology, the professional nail technician would have to be experienced with general manicures and pedicures. These are the basics to any nail care business, but also a knowledge of computers and how they work is advisable. The software is easy to use, but the process needs a bit of practice in order to become proficient. With expert guidance and advice from a reputable company, then using this new technology will enhance your business and bring colourfull designs into the lives of many clients nails.

Finding and Interviewing the Right Cosmetic Dentist

There are a number of ways to select a Cosmetic Dentist, some good, some bad. Below I describe some good methods, and some that arent so good.
    The best way:
The best way to select your cosmetic dentist is to put in some legwork. Dont be in a hurry; this is a decision that could last a lifetime. Interview at least two or three cosmetic dentists, and ask to see before and after pictures of the work they have done. Be sure that you like the results of the doctors work. Do all of the patients teeth look the same? Do they look natural, or do they look like a mouth full of Chiclets? How does the shape of the teeth blend with the patients face? Ask the Dentist to show you examples of different shapes of teeth. You need to also be sure that you communicate well with the dentist, and he understands what it is you want. Where did the dentist get his cosmetic training? True cosmetic dentistry is not taught in dental school. The Dentist should have attended a postgraduate program such as The Las Vegas institute for Advanced Dental Studies. These types of programs have the dentists bring in actual patients to work on, they arent just a weekend lecture course on how to do veneers. Most importantly, make sure the dentist takes the time to explain everything to you and answers all of your questions. Once you have done all of this, you can make an informed, rational decision. Anyone who refers you to a cosmetic dentist has far less at stake in the outcome than you do, so it's up to you to take responsibility for finding the best doctor.

1.A recommendation from your family doctor. This can be a starting point, but remember, your primary doctor is probably pretty busy. He doesnt usually have time to evaluate a bunch of different cosmetic dentists. He may know a couple of different dentists who practice cosmetic dentistry, but these may not necessarily be the best in town.
    2. A referral from a patient who has had work done by a cosmetic dentist. If you like the results, he/she may be worth checking into. Find out about education and postgraduate training.
3.A recommendation from an aesthetician or hair stylist. These people are in the appearance and style business. They know who has had what done, and have probably seen both the good and bad in your town. This can actually be a pretty good starting point for your search.
4.The yellow pages will have a list of dentists in your town; keep in mind that the size and quality of the ad are not an indication of the quality of the work. Be very careful about using this as your starting point.

    The Interview
Some things to remember when you go in for a consultation:
1.Try to relax. You are just going for a consultation. You have no obligation to have any treatment. Tell the dentist what it is you are looking for. Listen to what he has to say.
2.Remember, you are hiring the dentist, not the other way around. Be sure that he answers all of your questions.
3.Go to your consultation with pictures of smiles that you like. Not every smile can be duplicated on every patient, but it will give the cosmetic dentist some idea of what direction you wish to go. Be sure to let him know what it is about your smile that you dislike. Listen to what he has to say about your smile
What you want to accomplish at the consultation:
    1. Get as much information as you can about the recommended procedure. What will be done; veneers? Crowns? Implants? bridges? What can be improved upon? What can the dentist not improve? What are the possible complications? What are the costs? Will you be able to go out right after the procedure? If you feel that the doctor is not answering your questions or comes across as if you are wasting his time, move on to the next one. It is the cosmetic dentists job to make sure you are educated about the procedure and that he answers all of your questions.
2.How good is the cosmetic dentist? Look at before and after photos of patients with similar situations. This is one way of determining how good his work is. Be sure to ask if the pictures you are seeing are patients the dentist has done himself. Some cosmetic dentists use stock photos of patients who are not their own. If the dentist will not show you photos, it is probably a good idea to go elsewhere.
3.If you like what you see, but are still a little bit uneasy, ask the dentist if you can contact some of his cosmetic patients that have had similar treatment. Most good cosmetic dentist will be happy to arrange this for you.
Cosmetic dentists are just like any other professional, some are very good, and others are not so good. Pictures of the dentists work are the best evidence of the dentists skill. You wouldnt hire someone to remodel your house without seeing samples of their work first. A great cosmetic dentist sees beyond the teeth, looking at the whole person. Truth About Low Fat Diets Benefits

A national study recently revealed telling facts regarding low-fat diets and their benefits relating to cancer and heart disease. A study concluded by the Womens Health Initiative (WHI) and Stanford University noted that a low-fat diet, alone, is not enough to greatly reduce the risk of heart disease and/or cancer in adult women. Researchers have found that a reduction in saturated and trans fats may provide more positive results.

The study showed that women who participate in a low-fat diet experienced a 9% reduction in the development of breast cancer. In addition, no significant changes were noted in the occurrence of heart disease. An impressive 49,000 females, ranging in age from 50 to 79, participated in what is known as the Americas largest long-term study of a low-fat diet to ever be noted. The research was conducted over a period of eight years, in which the experts planned to test the theory that low-fat diets were helpful in reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer.

Among the 49,000 subjects, 40% were assigned to a low-fat diet, which required that they reduce their fat intake to 20% of their total calorie intake. In addition, they were to eat fruits and vegetables on five or more instances throughout the day, along with six servings of grain. The remaining 60% of participants were designated as the comparison group and were instructed to maintain their eating habits as always.

Womens Health Initiative experts, however, noted that a number of low-fat diet participants did not meet the 20% fat intake goal. In a recent news report released from Stanford University, experts conveyed that women who wish to maintain their health should consider a diet that is both low in saturated and trans fats while being rich in fiber and vegetables. This diet would replace one that is geared solely toward the intake of low-fat foods.

Just switching to low-fat foods is not likely to yield much health benefit in most women, commented Marcia Stefanick, PhD, professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center and chair of the Womens Health Initiative steering committee. Rather than trying to eat low-fat, women should focus on reducing saturated fats and trans fats.

In addition to any diet program, regular exercise and health screenings should be used for early detection and the most effective treatment.

The information in this article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be considered as, or used in place of, medical advice or professional recommendations for diet and/or exercise regimens. Every individual should consult his/her physician prior to beginning any program consisting of diet and/or exercise.

    Finding the Perfect Spa

Finding the perfect spa requires much research. There is not just one type of spa. In fact, spas are about as diverse as their customers. In order to find a spa that will fulfill your expectations, decide ahead of time what your goal is. Is it relaxation, rejuvenation, or some form of therapy for a condition or a trouble area you are dealing with? Once you know your expectations, you should familiarize yourself with the different types of spas available to you, what each spa provides, and the amount of time each program takes.

Normally, spas can be classified into four basic categories. The following is a list which also states and defines each category:

    1. Fitness: these spas incorporate fitness into the spa routine. Everything from aerobics to sports can be found for people who want to relax and lose weight at the same time. These spas are very therapeutic for active people who enjoy being outdoors, or for those who wish to learn a new activity.

    2. Wellness: For people who have certain health issues, licensed health care specialists supervise their clients while first class and clinically effective treatments are administered on the patient's request. The patients vary from those overcoming an operation to those who are trying to quit smoking or drinking.

    3. Day Spa: This popular form of spa is used primarily for pampering. These centers are not as expensive as other spas and have a more generalized menu. Most clients come to day spas looking for a few hours of relaxation and beautification. Day spas are great as a preparation for weddings or a formal event where you will need to look your best. They are also great gift ideas for anyone looking for a rejuvenating experience.

    4. Holistic: The philosophy of these centers is to treat the body as well as the mind and spirit. Many new techniques are implemented and often include traditions from other cultures such as meditation and Tai Chi. Even the cuisine makes an effort to be fully nourishing.

These few examples are a great way to begin research on your dream spa experience. Along with the desired goal, make sure you know the quality of the center. Be picky on cleanliness and the attitudes of the employees. If these elements are above par with you, you will surely be rewarded with the spa experience beyond your expectations.

How To Apply Lip Gloss Correctly!

What are Lip Glosses? Lip gloss and lip shine comes in tubes and tiny pots that are convenient to use and give a shimmer and shine to your lips that you have always wished for. These days, they are manufactured to last for long periods of time and can be water-resistant too.

Lip Gloss can be applied either over the lipstick or alone for a more natural and nude lip look. Lip-gloss helps to add more volume to your lips and make them look fuller and highlight them on the face. Thus, women with thick lips are generally advised to use it very sparingly. One can effectively make the lips look more beautiful with the help of a little lip gloss and other lip products and use it strategically for lip correction.

A light film of Chapstick over lips not only protect them and heal them but also helps the lip color to set more effectively. Now, not only are lip glosses easy to use, they serve a great purpose too, that is to keep your lips chap free.

Here are some great tips on how to apply your favorite lip gloss to achieve that lustrous, full volume pout!

    Right Application of Lip Gloss
First thing first, apply your lip gloss on properly. Instead of putting gloss on like you do lipstick (from left to right, top to bottom with a smack!), first apply gloss to the middle of your bottom lip only. Rub lips together. This will keep gloss from going on too thickly and getting goopy on you.

I want to Use Lip Gloss Over Lipstick!
If you wish to give your current lip stick color a mood lift, it is a great idea to slide some yummy lip gloss over your applied lip stick. I love the look of just a bit of gloss over a neutral lipstick. Again, dab just a bit in the center of lips and smooth out from there. This method of smoothing out the lip gloss from the center will help you from applying too the lip gloss on too thickly.

    Lip Gloss too Sticky?
Did you accidentally apply a little too much gloss? No problem! There is a very simple solution to this. All you do is just to smack your lips between a tissue paper, just like you would lipstick! There you go, all is good to go again!

Lip gloss is as popular as ever! Always have been and always will be! So, what are you waiting for? Get todays latest colors and try them all on!

Liposuction For The Reduction of Breasts

While people tend to focus on breast implants, breast reduction is a very common procedure for both men and women. Few people realize there may be a liposuction element.

Liposuction For The Reduction of Breasts

There are many cosmetic procedures that can be done regarding a woman's breast size. Many women opt for implants, feeling that their breasts are too small. Others want a breast lift, where the breasts are operated on, tissue is removed and muscles are lifted, so that the breast has a younger and perkier appearance. Finally, some women need to have breast reduction because they feel that the size of their breasts is too large.

Traditional breast reduction requires a doctor to make large incisions, or cuts, underneath the breast and then remove fatty tissue. Many women who need breast reductions do not want to have to deal with the large scars and long recovery time. If you fall into this category, you should be aware that reduction by liposuction is an option.

Liposuction, of any area, requires only small cuts in the skin to insert the tubing and other equipment needed to vacuum out the relevant fatty cells. In breast reduction, a small cut is made in the crease of the breast. It is so small that it is very difficult to see with the naked eye. The plastic surgeon then will remove fatty material in the breasts to obtain the desired result. You might be surprised to learn that very large quantities of breast tissue, up to 1000 cc of fluid, can be removed in many cases. This equates to over two and a half bra cup sizes. This removal of tissue also allows the breast envelope to contract, which makes the breasts elevate. The result is a perkier look and a rise in the breasts of up to two inches.

There are many advantages to having reduction by liposuction. If you are a younger patient, having your breast size reduced in this way allows you to retain the ability to breast feed later on as the milk ducts are not damaged. The recovery time from liposuction is shorter than that from traditional breast reduction. Additionally, there will be less scarring and potentially fewer side effects such as swelling and pain because this method is less invasive. Also, since less damage will be done to the nerves in the breast area, you may retain better sensation in the breast.

Breast reduction should be considered major surgery. This means you should discuss the best medical options with your plastic surgeon and gain an understanding of the results you can reasonably expect. Some reductions are covered by insurance if there is a medical reason for the surgery, so make sure to explore this issue with your health insurance carrier and surgeon.

Vintage Meets Modern: A Classic New Look

Retro glam looks of the past are back in a big way-and not just on runway supermodels. Fashionable women across America are sporting a multitude of styles from previous decades, but with a few contemporary twists.

Try these cost-effective tips from celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose. He can help you join the vintage-meets-modern revolution.

Makeup? Make down-Update your look by eradicating that made-up look. Rather than using both a foundation and bronzer, stick to mineral powder and blush. Blush adds warmth to the face and emphasizes facial contours. Add a subtle touch of color to the high edge of the cheek-bones and blend to create a natural-looking blush on the cheeks. To create a look that screams vintage glamor, experiment with this season's popular apricot or pale pink hues.

Lighten to brighten-This season, less really is more. Ditch the hard shades and harsh liner and stick to light, barely-there colors with a subtle shimmer to instantly brighten your gaze. To achieve a glamorous, wide-eyed look with instant sex appeal, apply an extra coat of mascara to the outer corners of lashes. Feeling ultra-chic? Trade your traditional mascara for one in dark purple or sage.

Create that perfect pout-Both beautiful and daring, bold, vintage lip color is the easiest way to add a punch of drama to any ensemble. For a show-stopping effect, make sure your pearly whites are up to date by using Crest Whitestrips Supreme, the highest whitening power available in a strip. Sold exclusively at dental offices, these strips deliver dramatic, professional results that are first visible after only three days. The strips enable you to whiten to your desired level at home, through the help of your dentist.

Do a new 'Do-Turn heads at any party by mixing a simple, classic hairstyle or cut with ultra-modern hues or low-lights. For longer-haired femmes, try a bouffant or a sleek 1940s-style high ponytail. For those with short hair, experiment with '20s-style face-framing waves.

Natural Mineral Makeup - 3 Reasons why it should be Your Natural Summer Sun Protection

Mineral Makeup is the natural solution for any person looking for natural sunscreen this summer. Especially if you are looking for a gentle and safe sunscreen. Then look no further than your makeup bag for fabulous looking results and full spectrum sun protection.

Here are the top 3 reasons why mineral makeup should be your sunscreen of choice:

    1. The two principal ingredients in mineral makeup are natural sunscreens, giving full range UVA and UVB sun protection.

Zinc oxide is the top ingredient in mineral makeup. Because it absorbs both UVA and UVB rays of ultraviolet light very effectively it is the most widely used ingredient in sunscreen products. This mineral helps protect against sunburn and other damage to the skin caused by ultra violet light.

Titanium dioxide is also widely used as a sunscreen. Because of it's brightness and very high refractive index, next only to diamonds in brightness, this mineral added to mineral makeup gives your face a radiant glow.

    2. Mineral Makeup helps fight acne. And that is very good news if you want to wear makeup out doors in the hot summer. If you have acne, then you probably know that wearing makeup and cosmetics when you are going to be sweating only aggravates and worsens your acne.

Mineral makeup is your solution. It is inorganic, and repels bacteria feeding moisture from entering your pores, yet the minerals are ground so that they lay weightlessly on your skin and do not clog the pores.

    3. Mineral Makeup does not "melt"off your face when you sweat. Because it contains titanium dioxide, which turns the extra moisture into a strong steralizer, the moisture cannot be absorbed by the minerals and thus the makeup will not move or run off in the hot summer sun. This makeup stays put.

The steralizing effects of the makeup also give it a powerful punch in the acne fighting department. No wonder dermatologists love it, and call it "the skin care makeup."

    The Ingredients of Your Cosmetics

The cosmetics industry is big around the world. Consumers across the globe spend billions of dollars a year on make-up, fragrances, cleaners, and shampoos. Make-up is definitely not a recent development. Women over 3000 years ago in Greece used make-up that contained lead in it to get a pale complexion and women in ancient Egypt used a dark substance known as kohl to darken their eyelids. Today, make-up is more widely used than ever. Cosmetic advertisers now target males and females in an effort to expand their massive business.

The exact definition of what a cosmetic is was defined by the Australian Trade Practices Act of 1974 as a substance or preparation intended for placement in contact with any external part of the body. People use cosmetics to alter their appearances and to change the odors our body produces. So whats in all this stuff that we put on our faces and bodies? A majority of the cosmetics produced generally has at least some of the following ingredients; emulsifier, preservatives, thickener, ph stabilizers, fragrance, color, and water.

Preservatives are added to the ingredients of cosmetics to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi, which could ruin the make-up and harm the user. Emulsifiers are small drops of oil in water or small drops of water in oil. To keep the oil and water from separating, emulsifiers are added. The combination of oil and water produces a homogenous surface with an even texture. Once this even texture is achieved, polymers are added to change the consistency of the cosmetics. Thickeners can be derived from synthetic materials known as polyethylene glycol or from natural sources known as polysaccharides. If the cosmetic becomes too thick, it can be diluted with water or alcohol, which are both solvents.

A number of chemicals may also be present to give the cosmetics a more pleasant smell and change the color to the desired hue. There are also additives to adjust the acidity of make-up, or the ph level. The majority of make-ups contain these ingredients to be as safe for as many people as possible. If you have reactions or know that you are allergic to some substances, be cautious before trying out that new tube of lipstick.

Common Skin Conditions: Dermatitis and Moles

Two of the most common skin conditions are the presence of moles and dermatitis. Moles can have more serious consequences than the irritation of dermatitis.

Moles occur when the cells in the skin that give it its pigment, called melanocytes, grow in clusters. These cells normally grow throughout the skin, but when too many grow in the same place a mole occurs. Most moles appear before the age of 25, but some may appear much later. Moles can remain static or change over time. Although most are not dangerous, some can be malignant and lead to melanoma. Any mole that oozes or becomes painful or sensitive should be checked out by a dermatologist. Moles that suddenly appear after the age of 25 or begin to change or grow should also be evaluated.

When evaluating your moles, keep the following in mind. Moles should be round. If your moles are asymmetrical, or irregular in shape, have it evaluated. If you find a mole that is larger than , mention it to your doctor or dermatologist. If you find that your mole has an irregular or jagged edge, or is not all one color, have your doctor look at it. Finally, any mole that is red or blue may be cause for concern.

Treating moles is not difficult. If a mole is embarrassing, or becomes irritated under your clothing, you may ask your doctor to remove it. Moles can be frozen with a chemical, after which they dry up and fall off. Other moles can be simply cut off of the skin. Often, doctors will remove entire moles that seem suspicious and test the tissue for cancer. If any malignancy is found, they may cut out a slightly larger area of skin and then suture the site closed.

Check your skin regularly for changes in your moles. If any seem suspicious, or any changes have occurred, let your doctor know. Preventing a problem is as easy as going on mole patrol.

    Eight Beauty Kit Must Haves

A single trip to the make up store can easily set you back hundreds of dollars. If you invest on good products that will truly make a positive difference in your look, then consider the money well spent. The problem is when you stock up on beauty products that you dont use because you realize you dont need them or worse, theyre the wrong beauty products for you.

Here is a list of the eight must-have items for your make-up kit. The specific brand you will choose will depend on your budget, your preferences and your skin type but this should serve as your guideline as to what you really need. Following this list will save you from making unnecessary make-up purchases.

    1. Tinted moisturizer- unless youre going to a dinner party or a photo shoot, you dont really need to pile on the make-up. Instead of using foundation (liquid or cake), purchase a good tinted moisturizer. Tinted moisturizers give your skin an even, clean, natural look. It also gives you the added benefit of moisturizing your skin.

    2. Tweezers- there is nothing like clean brows to give your face an instant face-lift. With the right brow shape, your face can look young and clean. The best tweezers are relatively cheap so they will probably be the cheapest must-have in your make-up kit. Good tweezers can last you many years.
    3. Eyelash curler- Bright, clear, open eyes can make a big difference in a persons look. Curled lashes help in showcasing beautiful eyes.

    4. Blush- Healthy flushed cheeks can make a person look absolutely gorgeous and can complete a persons natural look. There are a number of blushes available in the market in different forms: powder, gel, pencil and others. Some products even work as both cheek and lip tints.

    5. Lipstick- Select a good shade of lipstick that can take you from day to night. You can get several shades of lipstick because there are plenty of inexpensive brands available but you must have one lipstick shade that can work for all your outfits and for different occasions. Once you find a shade that works for your skin tone and your outfits, make sure to get a fresh tube as soon as it runs out. This lipstick will be your signature shade, something you dont have to think twice about putting on when youre in a rush.

    6. Eyeliner- eyeliners can be used to line eyelids or define eyebrows. It can make your eyes look bigger or smaller depending on your preference. Pencil eyeliners are great because they are inexpensive and they dont drip.

    7. Lip gloss- for days when you dont feel like wearing make-up but can not step out of the house looking unkempt, lip gloss can add an instant oomph to your look. Lip gloss are also great when you need to do quick touch ups.

    8. Mascara- applying mascara can make a person look extra glamorous with very little effort. Invest in a good mascara to give your eyes an instant pop. Mascaras are also great for when you want the more dramatic effect of smoky eyes.

Why Board Certification is Important When Picking a Plastic Surgeon

Once you make the decision to pursue plastic surgery, you will start evaluating different surgeons. Board certification should be one of the topics you focus during your evaluation.

Why Board Certification is Important When Picking a Plastic Surgeon

The term Board Certified gets thrown around here and there which makes it easy to overlook when evaluating a plastic surgeon. So, what exactly is it? Board certification means a physician has taken and passed an examination in a particular medical specialty. Often, you will see information indicating a physician is board eligible, which means the person has completed training and is eligible to take the exam. It is important that you understand that it does not mean the person is board certified, to wit, do not mix the two classifications up when evaluating a surgeon.

There are numerous specialties in the medical field, so being board certified may not always mean what it seems to when it comes to plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is a specialized form of medicine in which certification can be obtained. Other surgeons, however, can perform plastic surgery. For instance, a physician specializing in throat surgery can be board certified for that specialty, but perform plastic surgery for chins and so on. Although they are board certified in that area, they are not for plastic surgery.

When evaluating a plastic surgeon, you want to find out if they are board certified. Assuming they are, you then want to find out what medical specialty they are certified for! You may be surprised to learn it is not plastic surgery, which may also impact your decision on whether you should use the surgeon.

You might be wondering why medical professionals other than plastic surgeons would want to get into the field. In a majority of cases, a plastic surgery patient must pay for the surgery, not an insurance company. Insurance companies are notorious for slashing the billings of surgeons, so getting their full fee from a plastic surgery is a very attractive option.

Board certified plastic surgeons have the best training and most experience. When evaluating surgeons, just make sure they are actually certified in plastic surgery!

Anti-Aging Skin Care - The Basics

The very first question most people have when exploring the realm of anti-aging skin care is, What skin rejuvenation products have been proven to be effective?

Accurate information regarding the multitude of anti-aging treatments flooding the marketplace is the best way to make informed decisions for developing your own skin rejuvenation regime which incorporates the anti-aging skin care techniques, strategies and treatments that best address your personal aging skin issues.

The basics of effective skin rejuvenation begin with the facts on anti-aging skin care treatments. There are several active ingredients that have been clinically proven to be effective skin rejuvenators. One of the most effective treatments is vitamin A derivatives such a retinol or retinyl palmitate.

The Retin A or Renova vitamin A treatments are the strongest although the most irritating treatments of the vitamin A options and are only available by prescription. If your skin needs major rejuvenation attention, ask your Doctor if you are a candidate for the prescription vitamin A treatment of Retin A or Renova.

If not, including one of the other retinol alternatives in your skin care routine is an excellent strategy. The concentration of over-the-counter retinol products can range up to 1%. The basic rule of thumb is, the higher the concentration, the stronger the treatment. Be forewarned though, read the directions carefully because the stronger retinol products can be quite irritating to the skin. Starting slow and gradually working your way up to higher concentrations will allow your skin to adjust to the treatments better. The vitamin A derivative, Retinyl Palmitate, is the less irritating of the Vitamin A options and is considered to have quite effective rejuvenating qualities.

The next most beneficial anti-aging skin rejuvenation treatment is a chemical exfoliant such as an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) or beta hydroxyl acid (BHA) product. The most popular of these acids is an AHA glycolic acid. Glycolic acid should be use in concentrations of 8% to 15% depending on your skins sensitivity. Start out with a lower concentration and gradually move up to a 10% then 15% concentration depending on your skins tolerance in order to avoid irritation.

The last consideration is including an antioxidant to contain the skin damaging free radicals as well as to encourage overall skin repair. Products containing Vitamin C Ester, Spin Trap, or CoQ10 are all good options to explore. Then, of course, there are other viable anti-aging treatments which can be incorporated into your regime depending on your particular skin rejuvenation needs which include DMAE, Kinerase or Kinetin, and GHK Copper Peptides. Finally, the most critical and essential aspect to any successful skin rejuvenation regime is sunscreen, at least once a day, each and every day!

    Natural Skin Care Products

As more people are becoming aware of the effect of pesticides and synthetic ingredients on our environment and health, more women are interested in using natural skin care products. With the increasing demand comes more widely available natural skin care products which may be chemical-free, completely organic, or even vegan. It is estimated that, during a typical skin care treatment, a womans skin, hair and nails come in contact with over 100 chemicals, many of them harmful to health. In her lifetime, the average woman will ingest around four pounds of lipstick, and lipstick can contain tar, aluminum and many other poisonous or carcinogenic substances. Therefore, natural skin care products are more in demand these days, as awareness of health increases.

Natural skin care products are available in the following forms:

    Cosmetics
    Shampoos and conditioners
    Cleansers
    Skin conditioners
    Skin toners and hydrators

There are also natural perfumes, moisturizers and skin treatments. Natural and organic cosmetics are free of synthetic dyes and the color can be obtained through plants and minerals. They usually have a shorter shelf-life than conventional cosmetics, and should be replaced often. Natural cosmetics are available as foundations, lipsticks, eyeliners and other beautifying products. Many natural cosmetics use animal products such as beeswax and lanolin, and vegans, those who avoid animal products completely, should find cosmetics using vegetable oils such as palm and shea butter.

Many of consumers of natural beauty products enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy along with cleansing and conditioning their skin and hair. Aromatherapy is the art of affecting ones sense of well-being through the use of essential oils from flowers and herbs. Some blends stimulate while others relax. Many natural skin care products are available in sets which include a shower gel, soap, shampoo and conditioner, a scrub and cologne. Orange, bergamont and cedar have stimulating effects and refresh the skin. Many report a tingling sensation after using natural citrus and cedar products. Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang soothes and prevents stress.

Natural skin care products are usually made of bases and essential oils. Depending on the product, the base may be a wax or a cream made of moisturizing oils and plant butters. Unrefined shea butter from Africa is a common choice and Tamanu from Madagascar is prized for its soothing properties. The best essential oils are expeller pressed, which means that they are extracted without chemical solvents. The bases and oils are combined to produce skin creams, cleansers, perfumes and lipsticks.

Skin masks and treatments are in-depth processes and require several types of natural skin care products for an entire treatment. Mud masks may contain real, vitamin-rich mud or clay from certain regions of the world known for producing nourishing products. A mask, which draws out the impurities from the skin and improves circulation, is usually followed by a hydrating spray. Rosewater is often used for this purpose, because of its nourishing and moisturizing properties. The skin is cleansed using a scrub, made of crushed peach pits or another rough material that sloughs off dead cells. Cleansers are used according to ones skin type; those with dry skin may use a cleanser with a fruit such as avocado or banana, and those with oily-skin or acne find tea tree oil cleanser to be quite effective. A moisturizer completes the treatment, and is made of oils from plants such as cocoa or palm that gently add moisture without clogging the pores.

One should be careful when purchasing natural skin care products. Many conventional skin care products claim to have natural ingredients, but this might mean that they use a bit of a plant or an herb, and the other 95% of the lotion is made of chemicals. Read the label to ensure that the products you are using are all-natural, if this is important to you, and work with a company that you trust.
