Youch! Hair Removal Trends, Types And Costs

Unwanted hair removal is on the rise big-time. Studies indicate that about eighty percent of women and a surprising fifty percent of men have unwanted hair that they'd like to get rid of. Hair removal has been around for thousands of years and in each culture you'll find varying socially acceptable amounts and areas of body hair.

People desiring hair removal all want 3 things:

1. To get rid of their unwanted hair with less pain.
2. Remove the hair without spending an arm and a leg, pun intended, (:--).
3. Diminish hair regrowth.

Now there are several processes for hair removal and each comes with its advantages, side effects and associated costs as well.

For decades, electrolysis and shaving had been the normal practice for removing hair, with the downsides being very painful and time consuming. Recently, modern techniques such as laser hair removal have given the world a better way to remove unwanted hair.

Here are the methods available for hair removal:

Temporary: Tweezing, Shaving, Epilators (mechanical and electrical), Chemical Depilatories
Dwindling Amounts Of hair: Waxing and Sugaring (tends to reduce hair growth with time)
Permanent: Electrolysis (Hair Electrology), Laser Hair Removal

Depending on the specialist involved and the type of treatment you desire, the price fluctuates.

Here's a general costs guideline associated with the most popular types of hair removal:
1. Shaving: from $1-$25 for razors and supplies. Barbers or professional shaves are about $5-$30.
2. Waxing: now more popular than sugaring will run about $25-$75 for a home use kit and around $20-$200 for professional waxing in salons depending on how much of the body is to be done.
3. Laser: generally running several thousand dollars after repeated treatments and varied according to how much of the body is to be treated.

Overview and further information on the various types of hair removal: Shaving is and may always be the quickest and most painless form of short term or temporary hair removal.

Hair removal creams like Ultra Hair Removal, Emjoi Hair Removal System and Tend Skin are available in stores and can be ordered online. But be careful while buying the products on line and consult an expert to know which product is suitable for your skin type and location of hair removal. An excellent resource for looking into scams and products is a website called www.HairFacts.com.

Epilators are good if you have delicate skin. They are compact in size, portable and easy to use. Put bluntly an epilator pulls the hair out from the root and like any of the other methods has its advantages and disadvantages.

Waxing, although temporary is the other effective way for hair removal and can easily be done in the privacy of your own home. It does have many cautions though so if your not familiar with waxing make sure to consult with a dermatologist first. For best results with waxing let the hair grow out for 2-3 weeks.

General waxing tips and guidelines:
1. Wash skin to remove any lotion and natural skin oils.
2. Let your body dry completely.
3. Test over a small area first to ensure your skin doesn't have any adverse effects.
4. Do not over heat the wax or it may burn.
5. Pain reducing gels can be used to avoid the pain.
6. The wax should be applied in the direction of hair growth.
7. Pull the wax backward from the direction of hair growth rather than pulling upward or out.
8. Wipe the skin with a moist towel to remove excess wax.
9. Use a good sunscreen lotion to avoid exposure to direct sunlight after waxing.

Laser hair removal is another way to get rid of unwanted hair permanently. These lasers destroy the pigment of the hair follicle preventing it from regrowth. It can be used to remove hair from a small area of a persons upper lip to full body back hair for men. Blisters or reddening of skin, dark spots and bumps on skin are to be expected after a laser removal treatment, but will heal quickly with almost no cause for concern. The major downside to laser is the associated costs. Repeated visits will be needed for complete coverage. Consult a laser hair removal salon in your area for further details.

For further information to hair removal consult a dermatologist in your area or stop in and visit one of the hair removal salons, I'm sure they'll be glad to give you more information considering your a potential client.

Treating Ethnic Skin Conditions

Just because a product says it's a facial cleanser or moisturizer, doesn't mean it's the right product for you. Many people think that the same skin care regimen works as well on African Americans and Hispanics as it does on non-ethnic skin types.

But according to experts like Dr. Angelo P. Thrower, a dermatologist specializing in ethnic skin conditions, such skin presents unique challenges that have only recently begun to be addressed. He offers these answers to some frequently asked ethnic skin care questions:

Q: What are some problems specific to ethnic skin?

A: Ethnic skin is prone to a unique set of problems, ranging from dark spots and skin discoloration, to acne, shaving bumps and bumps on the neck.

Q: What's the first step in determining how to care for my skin?

A: Start by finding out what type of skin you have. There are three general skin types: Oily skin, which is shiny and may feel bumpy; normal/combination skin, which has a few areas that are oily and others that are slightly dry; and dry skin, which tends to have matte finishes because of an accumulation of dead skin. Oily skin has many large pores, normal/combination skin has a moderate number of visible pores and dry skin has few, if any, visible pores.

Q: Do skin conditions affect black and white skin differently?

A: Sometimes. Black skin tends to exaggerate the skin's response to disease by producing follicular excitements, or hair bumps, that are dry and rough to the touch.

Q: How do I choose a treatment?

A: Look for products made for your specific skin type. For instance, Dr. Thrower developed a line of products for ethnic skin called Heritage Skin Care. It's specially formulated to treat common problems in skin-of-color, such as melasma, or dark patches and dark spots. The line is also formulated to treat dry skin and acne-a disease common in both black and white skin, but that reacts differently to treatment, depending on a person's skin color.

Q: What can happen to the skin if the wrong product is used?

A: Most people's skin isn't oily around the eyes, on the corner of the nose, and around the mouth. If those areas are exposed to drying products on ethnic skin, irritation, skin discoloration and bump formation is likely.

Q. If I have dark skin, do I still need to be careful of the sun?

A: Even black skin tans and burns and must be protected. It's a good idea to use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 every time you go outside, whether it seems sunny or not.

Buying Your Shampoo Three Myths to Avoid

More often than not, we are besieged with commercial advertisements that claim to do miraculous work with their different brands of shampoos. Million dollars have been spent to create hypes after hypes inasmuch as they provide more fictions than facts about their shampoos. Below there are some of the most common myths found with your shampoo.

1. Hair Types
When you read the commercial literature, talk with your sales girls, advertisement pamphlets, you are more often advised to buy your shampoo according to your hair types. However, this seems to be another marketing technique that is commonly adopted by big shampoo companies to create more market segmentations in order to sell their products. The truth is that the categories are created much more than you need. The logic is that the differences in terms of their ingredients are minimal. In fact, those shampoos have to share a lot more common ingredients such as surfactants, quaternary ammonium compounds, conditioning properties, sodium lauryl sulfate, water-binding properties, and preservatives in order to cleanse your hair and give your hair the best condition.

2. Natural Extracts
Herbal extract such as aloe vera appears to be another boosting factor that is commonly accepted as an important element in choosing your shampoos. Some elements that are contained in certain herbal extracts can be very benefit to your hair shafts. For example, anti-inflammatory elements and antioxidant. However, the truth is that those elements are easily wiped off when you try to rinse your hair after applying the shampoo during your shower. The fact is that they just do not 'stick' on your hair! Besides, some herbal extracts may do more harm than you expect. I will try to evaluate some of them in the near future.

3. Multi Vitamins
Besides those things mentioned above, you would find that vitamins not only could be taken orally in the nutritional industry but also can be applied to your hair shafts. The most common belief is that vitamin can nourish your hair. Nevertheless, there is no scientific research proving their effectiveness for hair care. The logic is simple. The process of digesting and absorbing a vitamin by oral can be very complicated. I would say too complicated! Such a process, which does much better by taking the vitamin orally, can hardly be transferred to external application. Furthermore, the ratio of vitamin that can provide protection or nourishment to a single hair shaft is minimal if compared with taking the vitamin orally. In short, the amount of vitamin is just insufficient to cover the amount of your hair shafts.

Weddine Makeup Tips

Your wedding day is important, nobody needs to remind you of that. You are going to be the center of attention (at long last!) as all eyes will be on you and your groom. Even though your friends and family are there to cheer you on and celebrate the great day along with you, it can still be incredibly nerve wracking to have to stand in front of them all and try desperately to look your best.

So many things need to be taken into consideration: your dress, shoes, underwear (you know it), hair, skin, makeup. With all the planning and preparations, no one will blame you if a detail goes wrong, but it is likely that you do not want to take that risk. To be sure that your makeup is the best it can possibly be, go with a trusted makeup artist and have a trial run before the wedding day.

There are a few other things to consider when it comes to keeping the makeup firmly on your face, however!

Have a chat with your makeup artist if you have any concerns, and he or she should calmly walk you through the best possible options. Some of the most important things for you to consider when it comes to your wedding day makeup are color, moisturizer, wet eyes, facial treatments and emergency supplies.

First off, colors. Do not leave this to chance, be sure to match your makeup to your dress, accessories and surroundings! The last thing you want is for your color scheme to be sketchy...you may never forgive yourself. Seriously, it is something that needs to be considered so that you avoid a last minute color clash between yourself and the lovely flower arrangements all around the altar. Show all theme samples to your makeup artist and he or she can keep the colors in mind, choosing products that will both highlight your facial features while complementing the wedding scene beautifully.

The next thing to consider is moisturizer. Application of good moisturizer is always important, so let your wedding day be no different. Makeup will last longer if it is applied to a smooth, hydrated face, so be sure to apply plenty in the week coming up to your wedding day. On the day itself, apply your moisturizer a good twenty minutes before having your makeup done, so that it has a chance to absorb properly and benefit the makeup.

Wet eyes are always a problem for the bride, even ones who think they are made of stone. No woman should be expected to go through an entire wedding ceremony, the speeches and wedding night without shedding a tear! (hopefully for sentimental reasons) Keep this in mind and plan ahead. Make sure that you are having waterproof mascara put on your lashes, and oil based concealers and foundations around your eyes. You most certainly do not want streaming black lines running down your face if worst comes to worst and you break down in tears!

When it comes to facial treatments, these can do wonders for your skin and if you want to be sure you have no silly imperfections on the big day it is a good idea to book one of these for yourself. If you already use these services regularly, then great! Just remember that as with most treatments, your skin can be red and sensitive immediately afterwards, so do not plan your facial too close to the wedding day. If you can, book a week or even a month ahead, depending on your skin type.

What Causes Cellulite And How To Prevent It

cellulite treatment

It is a common knowledge that the appearance of cellulite is more common in women; and their age is of minor importance here since cellulite is often caused by hormonal disorders.

During the onset of puberty the body begins to produce hormones, including female ones that are responsible for formation of adipose tissue and may damage circulation and drainage in the tissues under the skin.

However, abnormal changes in tissues can be avoided if hormonal disorders are taken care of on the early stages. The young bodies can defend themselves better; and such disorders in teens are caused mostly by changes in metabolic process and thus are of temporary nature.

A number of factors can cause cellulite, however, the main causes are hereditary factors and unhealthy lifestyle. Hereditary factor cannot be denied since there are too many examples of this abound. What is more, however paradoxical it may seem, family upbringing plays a significant role in why we live an unhealthy lifestyle. The expression unhealthy lifestyle has an extensive meaning and includes a number of factors characteristic of human beings. In this connection the Oriental wisdom should be mentioned: in Orientalism the harmony and ways to achieve it were explored for years. The life is conceived by Oriental people as the unity of light yang and dark yin. There is no telling that yang is good and should exist, while yin is bad and should be got rid of. Such approach is typical of a Westerner accustomed to oppose good to evil. A Chinese or Japanese, however, sees no conflict here, and accepts the world as is, with any seeming contradictions.

In fact, who can say for sure what is better and what is worse: warmth or cold, day or night, man or woman? These are indivisible and interconnected components of our world that form the world order Dao. And a humans aim is to cognize Dao, and achieve harmony by adjusting the life to the naturalness of the world. It surely requires many efforts, and we have to rid ourselves step by step of vileness in us.

If we consider this desire from the point of view of our flesh, we may come to many questions. And the first of them is what the right and healthy diet is?

Makeup Boxes

Makeup boxes are synonyms to women. Where there is a woman there is a makeup box. If you come across some beautiful box or container seeming like a makeup kit / box, unclaimed, it is guaranteed that the first question will come in your mind be, where is the woman, the real owner of this makeup kit. But sorry, you will never find a makeup kit unclaimed. If there is a makeup kit, then it definitely belongs to some woman / girl or it is waiting in the showcase for its owner that must be a woman to be with. No doubt, males can also pick a makeup kit for fiance or spouse or a female friend.

The trend of make up is so hot that cosmetic industry is growing manifold every day and this is the only industry which will always either grow fast or with a steadfast rate but will never shrink, because the women exist for the well being of cosmetic industry.

It is said that ones loss is others gain, but here in the world of beauty ones loss is the gain for the two i.e. expenditure made by an women or his mail friend / husband or any other or by the women herself on cosmetics pays rich dividend to the cosmetic shop owners and industry, and once the cosmetic is purchased, these need makeup boxes to put. This does not mean cosmetics come bare. Makeup cosmetics come in very lovely packing but a women need the bunch of cosmetics at a time and so to pack these one need also some type of container called makeup boxes or makeup kits.

The size of kits varies widely as situation demands, if the woman is at home then she has a huge box in her dressing room containing different variety of cosmetics. But if she is in office or workplace the size of makeup box will be a small kit but it must be containing all the necessary cosmetics.

Like wise if she is traveling or partying.
Definitely, kitty parties are good advertiser for cosmetic companies and makeup box manufacturers, where women come across the recently launched makeup products in large and make the parts of their own makeup kit.

The size and design of a women makeup box vary according to occasions and requirement. The cosmetic content of these boxes also varies accordingly. Sometime the size and design also varies according to age group but if you are a male reader of this article then forget about guessing the age of an women on the basis of make up box. You will never guess out, bet it.

Every female need a makeup box, all the time it contains the things to make a women a pretty women. But varieties vary because of different individual demands.

In wide term you can say, woman does make up in three senses; need based, professional and trend setting.

In need based category an woman apply make up according to personal need, so that she must look pretty and keep herself healthy and fit, in professional category, women do according to circumstances for example an actress has to wear her makeup as director and script writer demands, so that she maintain the looks of the character she has to play or a she boss do the professional make up for meetings and attending office accordingly. But trend setting make up is hot and demanding in which women or girls do make up to look like some of their ideals or like some Hollywood or Bollywood girls.

Even the trend setting makeup is very common amongst teens and youngsters specially school girls. Since youngsters are dreamers and some time excellent daydreamers.

Applying makeup to look like some one is very common among youngsters and the trend is found in both sexes. Girls want to seem like their female ideals and boys like their male ideals, particularly where dressing and makeup is concerned.

No matter what type of makeup a woman applies, she needs Makeup Boxes and Cosmetics. These boxes may by of any shape; square, oval, cylindrical can be made of any material like wood, plastic or some metal like bronze or silver etc. The boxes may be huge enough to cover the entire corner of a woman dressing room or small to fit into the vanity bag or some time into pocket. But in all the circumstances these boxes must contain valuable cosmetics to make a woman / girl pretty, bold and beautiful.

Exposing the Truth about Tanning and the Worlds Most Common Cancer

It is official. Spring has sprung, bringing along with it spring fever. I can see it in my students eyes. They are practically breaking out in hives itching to soak up the warm spring sun, despite the fact they are sitting in a class that discusses skin cancer prevention.

Alas, despite their instructors desperate pleadings, these 20-something-year-old college students find it difficult, if not arduous, to forego their so-called need to tan that Hollywood constantly feeds and propagates. And while it is quite simply impossible for anyone to get a safe tan from tanning beds and other forms of ultraviolet radiation, there are several high-quality sunless tanning mousses that not only achieve that coveted bronze look, naturally, but also provide essential sun protection. Now my students, even my pageant girls, can have the best of both worlds.

They no longer have to walk into class with guilt-ridden faces knowing they have completely disregarded the very real dangers associated with using tanning beds. They are happy and healthy. And that makes me, the now dubbed skin cancer crusader happy, too.

Yet, despite the fact I am slowly replacing their love for tanning with a safe alternativethat of sunless tanning foams such as those developed and manufactured by Neostrata (which garnered the prestigious Gold Triangle Award from the American Academy of Dermatology in 2005), there remains a deeply pressing concern; a lingering question. How do we educators and advocates effectively tackle the culture of tanning, and thus significantly reduce the alarming increase in skin cancer incidence and mortality as a result of frequenting tanning salons?

Contrary to popular belief, the bottom-line is that there is no such thing as a safe tan. Any tan is damage to your skin. And that is a fact. The Indoor Tanning Association (ITA) would have the consumer-driven pop culture hold to the myth that tanning beds are safe, and are even a viable way of treating a variety of skin issues such as acne, or even Seasonal Affective Disorder. Such claims are false, even irresponsible and potentially deadly, and credible scientific research proves it. There is no way to achieve a safe, healthy tan from tanning beds or other sources of ultraviolet radiation.

Consider the following case-and-point.

The American Academy of Dermatology, in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently conducted a lengthy and independent research study which sheds some light on this issue, thus proving valuable insight into a media-inundated industry wrought with misleading, confusing, and even erroneous claims about tanning. They discovered, through numerous surveys, that more than 61% of women 18 and older (and 69% of men) equate a tan with beauty and health (www.aad.org/aad/Newsroom).

Despite the fact that we know that there is no such thing as a safe tan, people still associate bronzed skin with beauty and health, said Dr. Darrel S. Rigel, clinical professor at New York University Medical Center. Whats even more surprising is that the survey showed that 62 % of men and women responded that they know someone who has or had skin cancer, which depending on its location and severity does nothing to improve your looks and can be very detrimental to your health.

Dr. Elizabeth Whitmore, who, like Dr. Rigel, is a member of the AAD, agrees. People continue to invest both time and money into visiting tanning salons despite evidence which have found an increased incidence of melanomathe deadliest form of skin cancer in those who visit indoor tanning salons. Joyce Ayoub, director of public information at the Skin Cancer Foundation further attests to this fact. There is a myth that people like to believe, but it is a myth; not fact. Any tan means damage to the skin.

Further illustrating this point is a study headed by a team of scientists and researchers at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. These researchers discovered that the use of tanning beds and artificial tanning light sourceseven just once, can, indeed, lead to molecular changes in the skin that may lead to cancer. In comparing the effects of a teenager who was exposed for the first dose of tanning beds to multiple doses [] it is evident that there is damage sustained to the molecular structure of the skin even having only been exposed once, Whitmore says.

The researchers at Johns Hopkins, who conducted the study of 10 teenagers who were exposed to full-body tanning beds over a period of two weeks which, she says was similar to the routine a teenager preparing for prom or for a tropical vacation would undertake. The researched found that the subjects skin and blood, (which was carefully analyzed both prior to the UV exposure and after the exposure) had two distinct markers that indicated molecular change.

Whitmore adds, Its another indication that there is biologic activity and that there is cell damage when the skin is exposed to UV rays. This repair process can eventually fail to do its job completely or correctly causing the cells to replicate abnormally [...] this breakdown in the normal functioning of cells can lead to malignant cancer.

In actual fact, the AAD asserts that nearly 90% of skin carcinomas are a result of over-exposure to UV rays. Thusly, The Cancer Crusaders Organization (www.cancercrusaders.org) randomly surveyed college-aged students (18-to-25), and found that nearly 100% reported to having used a tanning bed at least once in their lifetime.

After having been apprised of the risks and dangers associated with tanning, many were undeterred. Not only does tanning help my acne, it helps me a lot during this time of year when theres a great deal of pressure with upcoming finals and during the stresses of the holidays, says Amanda Gusciano, a senior Brigham Young University. Even though, I am aware of the dangers of tanning, there is still that temptation; I havent stopped using tanning beds and I never use sunscreens.

The significance protecting your skin from the harmful affects of UV-B and UV-A rays goes almost without saying; however, I emphasize it emphatically to both my students and especially to my pageant contestants. UV-B and UV-A rays have varied affects on your skin, your immune system, and your body as a whole. UV-B irradiation disrupts the melanocytes, causing them to release the redness known as sunburn. Any change in the color of your skin as a result of over-exposure to the sun is damage to your skin, even if your skin tends to tan as opposed to burn.

All changes in the color of your skin as a result of UV exposure is the melanocytes in your skin (the cells responsible for pigmentation) trying to tell you that normal, healthy cells have been severely disrupted. Have you ever left basketball outside in the hot summer sun for a lengthy period of time? And after you retrieved the ball, you immediately notice that the elasticity of the ball is weakenedit feels rubbery and never quite bounces back? This is exactly what happens to your skin as a result of prolonged UV exposure. Both UV-B and UV-A rays have cumulative effects and coupled together can lead to melanoma skin cancer.

In sum, if you must heed the need to be golden, opt for sunless tanning mousses. There are quality dermatologically-approved sunless tanning mousses available that are reasonably priced, and will give you evenly distributed color, but will do it without the harmful affects of UV-rays. Now you can have the best of both worlds good looks and good health.

Which Teeth Whitening System Is Right For You?

Modern dentistry has improved and changed a great amount in the last ten to twenty years, and this has led to new treatments being available to everyone, rather than just the few rich people who could afford it. People are visiting dentists for 'cosmetic' dental treatment in the same way that they would visit a cosmetic surgeon to have their body altered or enhanced.

With more and more celebrities having cosmetic dental treatments and exhibiting perfect teeth in magazines and on television, tooth whitening is one of the dental treatments that have soared in popularity for people young and old. Other treatments include implants, veneers, and alteration of the gum line. This article looks at the different types of teeth whitening systems and will help you assess which is best for you.

There are various teeth whitening systems available, and they range from the very expensive to the relatively cheap and accessible. All teeth whitening systems fall into two main categories those that must be carried out by a professional such as a dentist, and those that can be done at home. Home treatments are often cheaper, but can be less effective and can even cause lasting damage if applied incorrectly.

The key to selecting which tooth whitening systems is appropriate for you is to ask yourself the following questions:

Am I good at following written instructions?
What is my budget for this treatment?
Am I looking for immediate results or a course of treatment?
Am I comfortable visiting a dentist?
Do I have minor or extensive tooth staining?

Home tooth whitening systems are cheaper, but they normally use a peroxide bleach based formula and so the instructions that come with them must be followed to the letter. Otherwise, the results may not be what you expected, and the sensitivity of the teeth can be increased.

However, if you are confident about applying the treatment yourself and are prepared to finish the whole treatment without expecting instant results, home teeth whitening systems can be a cost effective way to achieve that celebrity look.

Salon or dentist based teeth whitening systems are more expensive, but can have longer lasting and more immediate effects. Dentists use similar peroxide based formulas to the home systems, but the effect is enhanced by the use of a laser. Laser whitening can make your teeth 5-6 shades lighter on the first visit by activating crystals inside a gel, but if you have extreme discoloration you may need to go back more than once.

The risks of laser teeth whitening are not great, with the most common side effect reported being increased sensitivity to hot and cold. Rubber dams are used to protect the gums when bleach based formulas are being used, and this ensures the gums are protected from the effects of the tooth whitening system.

Modern lifestyles can have a bad effect on our teeth, with drinks like coffee, tea and red wine causing staining and discoloration. Teeth whitening systems are a way to instantly reverse the effects of our lifestyle, but are no substitute for regular brushing and flossing.

Makeup Tips from P3 Beauty.

In high school, I was the guy cutting class with his girlfriends in the ladies room. Yah, I was a rebel like that. One of my best friends at the time, a dead ringer for Marilyn Monroe, always used to say, No girl is too pretty for makeup.
I think it was just her excuse to put on more lipstick or powder her nose; usually both.
The only time Ive worn full face paint in drag as Posh Spice for Halloween the look was a far cry from your average everyday gal at the office.

It's easy to pluck a few items from the bin when you're painting on a clown face, but otherwise I have no idea how you ladies out there wrangle the vast abyss of the cosmetics isle. Ive heard some people don't come back. They become discombobulated by the endless choices and never return
And so, naturally, one wonders what a woman must do to find her way. Terri Apanasewicz is here to help those poor lost souls along the path to a natural looking complexion.

Terri turned her professional knowledge as a celebrity makeup artist and founded P3 Beauty; creating a team of professionals who can teach you how to do flawless makeup in your own home. With her history of clients like Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen, no doubt the P3 team has been making a lot of house calls!

Terri is all about making her beauty secrets accessible. Although we could not meet face to face, she was actually kind enough to email me a few pointers:

When using a mineral powder foundation such as Amazing Velvet, apply your concealer, first and set with translucent powder and finish up with mineral powder. This will put a barrier between concealer and mineral powder so it doesn't grab dark in the spots where there is concealer.

After applying eye pencil, always follow by smudging it with a brush and set with a powder product like an eye shadow of the same color. This will enhance the eye and allow for a longer wearing liner.

If you like color on your lips but not the feeling of lipstick, try a lip stain like Sheer or Shimmering stains from Liptini. They come in a large variety of colors. Finish up with a gloss. The gloss might wear off though the stain will stay on even after eating.

Thanks girlfriend, you just scored me some points next time Im in the ladies room!

Get Your Feet Ready for Sandal Season

The warm weather means one thing: Sandal season is here.

Get ready to feel the grass, beach or surf beneath your feet with the following heel-to-toe beauty tips from the American Podiatric Medical Association.

* After soaking, slough away calluses around the heels, balls and sides of your feet with a pumice stone or foot file. Avoid using a foot razor because it removes too much skin and can easily cause infection and permanent damage if used incorrectly.

* Eliminate dry skin and calluses by using an exfoliant scrub on the soles, sides and tops of your feet. Rub in circular motions and be sure to thoroughly rinse off the scrub. Pat feet dry, paying special attention to the area between your toes. Moisture can promote the development of athlete's foot or other fungal infections.

* Clip toenails with a straight-edge toenail clipper to ensure they do not become curved or rounded in the corners. Toenails should be trimmed to just above the top of each toe.

* Remove buildup under your toenails with a wooden or rubber manicure stick. Do not use a sharp tool to clean under your nail because you may puncture the skin and leave it vulnerable to infection.

* Smooth nail edges by filing toenails with an emery board. File lightly in one direction without drastically rounding the corners of the nail. The file should only be used to smooth the edge of the nail and not to scrape the nail's surface.

* Apply a healthy amount of emollient-enriched lotion over your feet. Be sure to remove any excess moisturizer from your toenails and from between your toes.

* After cuticles have been sufficiently moisturized, gently push them back with a rubber cuticle pusher or manicure stick. Cuticles serve as a protective barrier against bacteria entering the body and should never be cut.

* If you like to pamper your feet with pedicures, schedule appointments for first thing in the morning. Foot baths are typically cleanest earlier in the day.

* Apply nail polish only if your toenails are healthy. Nail polish locks out moisture and does not allow the nail or the nail bed to "breathe." Remove the polish regularly.

Skin Care - The Importance of Prevention and Maintenance

When it comes to skin care, many people dont think about it until they start to see the first signs of wrinkles, usually some time in their thirties. Although paying attention to skin care is beneficial at any age, it is important to learn the basics of good skin care as early as possible, and make it a routine. Many times, however, people just dont know where to start. With all of the beauty products on the market, and all of the claims of their cleansing and anti-aging benefits, how can we figure out the best skin care regimens for ourselves? There have been many strides made in the field of skin care, and some of the new skin care products combined with some old, tried-and-true methods of care can help anyone keep their skin in the best shape possible.

1. Skin care from the inside out One thing that a lot of people dont realize is that skin care is more than just keeping your skin clean and applying the right kinds of creams. The skin is an organ the largest organ of the body - and all the organs of the body need good nutrition in order to function properly. With todays fast food diets and busy lifestyles, where many peoples idea of a meal is grabbing a quick bite on the way in or out the door, its no wonder that there is a nutritional crisis going on. When it comes to skin care, proper nutrition should be the first thing that we think of. Eating healthy foods, including plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats like olive or canola oil can go a long way in helping the skin stay healthy and supple. A good quality vitamin and mineral supplement each day can help too, especially for busy people who dont watch their diets as closely as they should. To be healthy, the skin needs the right balance of vitamins and minerals, especially the B vitamins, anti-oxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E, and essential minerals like calcium and magnesium. Proper eating habits and vitamin and mineral supplementation should be considered the first and most essential beauty products and anti-aging products on our lists.

2. The Importance of Prevention in Skin Care It is much harder for skin care beauty products and anti-aging products to work when we dont work to prevent many skin care problems. Good nutrition is one way to do this, but we also need to do more. One of the most damaging elements to the skin is the sun. Not so long ago, people regarded a nice tan as a sign of healthy skin. Today, most of us know that too much exposure to the ultra-violet rays of the sun and even the so called safe UVA rays that come from tanning booths is extremely damaging, and dangerous, to the skin. UV and UVA rays cause premature aging of the skin, and can also cause other skin conditions such as rashes, inflammation, and skin cancer. A good quality sun block lotion is an essential beauty product to have on hand at all times with an SPF of 30 or higher. Sun block should be worn all the time when you are outside ultra violet rays are still present even on cloudy days and should be reapplied whenever necessary. Hats work well for shielding our faces from the sun, as well as trying to always sit in the shade and not directly in the sun.

3. Cleaning Keeping skin clean is essential for good skin care. A mild soap that doesnt dry the skin can be good, and there are several beauty products on the market that focus on safe skin cleansing. Your skin should be cleansed before applying or reapplying any creams or lotions, and any make-up used on the face should be as clean as possible.

4. Creams and Lotions Today there are a variety of creams and lotions on the market that are very helpful for skin care. Beauty products and anti-aging products for the skin have been developed over the years that can help the skin renew itself, that can prevent or reduce wrinkles, help prevent or reduce other signs of skin aging, and clear up acne and other debilitating skin conditions. Exfoliating skin creams help the skin slough off old skin cells and produce newer, more resilient skin cells. Certain moisturizers not only keep the skin supple, they can also help the skin rejuvenate itself, and can soften or plump lines and wrinkles, making them noticeably smoother and less apparent. There are creams and lotions for specific areas of the face and body, such as creams for the delicate area around the eyes, the thicker and rougher area of the elbow, or the vulnerable area of the neck. There are non-prescription and prescription creams that can be extremely helpful for clearing up acne and blackheads.

One of the best things that you can do is consult a dermatologist to figure out the best beauty regimen for your skin type. With all of the wonderful beauty products and anti-aging products on the market, as well as some knowledge about nutrition and preventative skin care, your skin can look its best for a very long time.

Celebrity Stylist Shares Secrets For Terrific Hair

Hair care expert Tim Rogers, who has among his clients Yoko Ono, Missy Rayder, Diane Sawyer, Kelly Gray, Samantha Boardman and Amanda Peet, combed through some of the secrets he gives celebrities when they have a bad hair day and came up with a few you may use:

Q. Any advice on how I can take better care of my hair?

A. Wash hair no more often than every other day. Water can be very drying to hair, exacerbating frizz and static flyaways. Wash with lukewarm water and always follow with a conditioner. Protect color-treated hair. New Results Colour Bright shampoo and conditioner are created specifically for treating and protecting multitonal hair shades. Don't forget sunscreen. The sun's rays can strip away natural oils as well as the pigment that gives hair its color. The sun can weaken hair cuticles, causing peeling, breaking and split ends. Defend hair with a hat and products with UV filters and keratin, for strength and elasticity.

Q. I need a new hairstyle. Can you help?

A. Take advantage of the multitude of virtual stylists on the Internet. Web sites like www.smartfixx.com offer comprehensive advice from salon professionals. Online, you can access info on trends 24/7. There's step-by-step styling advice in video you can play, pause, rewind and download to see how to get the look you like.

Q. I'm thinking of changing my hair color from blond to red. What's the best way?

A. Redheads aren't defined by "light or dark" but by tone. Consider which works with your skin. Glossing treatments deposit tone without lightening hair for maximum reflection and minimum damage. They're a great way to deliver customized shades of red.

Q. I'm a guy and I really like my new short hairstyle but it requires multiple styling products mostly created for women. Are there multipurpose products men can use?

A. Some really great unisex styling lines-like the new one from Charles Worthington London-have what you need. For short hair, wax sticks or gel strips are fantastic multipurpose options for keeping hair in place, taming flyaways or giving it a textured, spiky look. My favorite products from this Smart Fixx line are the H2O Styling Strips, which you can get at drugstores. Simply add the gel to wet hair with your fingertips. The strips come in a convenient pocket pack for on-the-go styling.

Condition for your hair type, says celebrity stylist Tim Rogers.

Expert Advice For A Fun & Confident Day At The Beach!

Having a fun, carefree summer-the season for shorts, tank tops and bikinis-is all about feeling confident. Yet, donning that teeny-weeny bikini can make anyone feel insecure and vulnerable. One way to beat those insecurities is by being prepared, and no one knows it better than Tracey Crothers, a California lifeguard who spends her whole summer on the beach. Here are a few tips from Tracey to get teens through the summer feeling-and looking-their confident best!

Suit up! According to Tracey, "I know how important it is to find a suit that fits right. After all, I have to feel confident and strong in a bathing suit no matter what time of the month it is." Tracey's advice when suit-shopping is to "take along an honest friend whose taste you trust."

Treat your feet: Treat your toes to a pretty summer pedicure and be sure to complement them by wearing a great-looking pair of thong sandals-which will also help keep feet protected from hot sand and debris on the beach. Another Tracey tip: "A sprinkle of baby powder makes sand brush right off skin!"

Pack some confidence: For Tracey, while not every day on the beach is about saving lives, it is about being ready for anything. "I need products that I can rely on. It's one less thing I have to worry about. That's why I and other lifeguards love o.b. Tampons. They're dependable, discreet and fit perfectly into any bag, so I know I'm always prepared."

Sun sense: There's nothing cool about getting burned, and it's easy to avoid. Dermatologists recommend using waterproof sunscreens with an SPF of 30 or higher. Sunglasses also offer fashionable protection-choose a pair that absorbs at least 90 percent of UV sunlight. For blocking the hot sun, brightly patterned beach umbrellas are great and, according to Tracey, "make it easy for friends to find you." Hats are also wonderful accessories for the beach as they shield skin and hair from burning.

H2O to go! When you're in the sun, remember to drink plenty of fluids and often, even if you do not feel thirsty. You'll need even more water if you're exerting energy, such as participating in a serious game of beach volleyball.

So if you're hoping for some hot fun in the summertime, take Tracey's advice: A little advance planning will ensure that your day on the beach, or at the pool, will be about relaxing, having fun and staying confident all summer long!

Understanding the Risks of Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the more popular plastic surgeries given the heft of most Americans. As with any surgery, there are risks you should understand

Understanding the Risks of Liposuction

When you decide on having liposuction, or any plastic surgery, there are many factors that should go into your decision to proceed. What procedure to have done, where to have the surgery performed, which doctor to choose for your surgery and the result you can reasonably expect should come into play. As with any surgery, you should also consider the risks, in this case the risks of liposuction.

You need to remember that liposuction is a surgical procedure, requiring general anesthesia, invasive entrance to and manipulation of your body. The technique of liposuction requires fluid, which often includes an anesthetic called lidocaine, to be pumped under the skin of the area to be liposuctioned. Epinephrine is also added to this fluid to slow bleeding, and then the area is cut into and a hollow instrument called a cannula is stuck into the area in question. This cannula is attached to a strong vacuum that sucks the fatty material out of the area that needs the removal procedure completed.

This process can carry risks. A very high percentage of surgeries have no complications whatsoever, but occasionally there can be problems. Statistics show that deadly complications occur .0002 of the time for all surgeries. For instance, there were five deaths from liposuction procedures in New York City between the years of 1993-1998. The patients were reported to have died from such problems as fluid overload (from the fluid used to numb and prepare the area), low blood pressure from the lidocaine added to the fluid and blood clots. Other deaths over the years have been caused by interactions between the lidocaine anesthetic and other medications the patients were taking. Obviously, it is crucial that you tell your plastic surgeon what medications, if any, you are taking.

Obviously, death is a rare occurrence with liposuction, so lets discuss side effects. Side effects such as bruising, swelling, misshapen areas can happen after having liposuction. There is also the possibility of not getting the outcome you expected and needing further surgery to correct the issues. Temporary numbness in the surgical area and scarring are also common risks of liposuction.

Before you choose to have liposuction, make sure you have considered the potential risks of liposuction carefully. Discuss the risks associated with liposuction with your plastic surgeon and make an informed decision.

A personal skin care program for you

Why is it that all of us cannot keep the skin we were born with. Well Ive still got my skin but it has changed and, according to my mother, it has changed a lot. It would also need to have stretched a bit, well in my case stretched a lot. As we get older, things happen to our skin, like wrinkles. I have them but I am a man so I can get away with it. Unfortunately, ladies find it harder to get away with having a few wrinkles. As a man, I am not too bothered by a few wrinkles and as long as I keep my skin clean, I do not bother with it much and no one really notices. What we do notice though is skin on women, and because many men are somehow genetically programmed to be uncaring and insensitive about your skin, you spend a great deal of time and effort to make your skin look good.

Why is it then that men can get away with wrinkles but women cannot? Is there anything you can do about it? If you adopt a skin care program then this should help to affect how your skin looks and more importantly it will affect how you feel as well, and that is very important. You have to remember that the skin is the largest organ in your body and so by adopting a skincare program you are looking after yourself.

So what can you do about it? Well to start with after every shower even after you have dried yourself your skin is still damp and by applying moisturizer you are trapping moisture into your skin which is a great plus factor. Another one is to drink water and this hydration helps your skin as well. However, if you notice that even after this your skin is always dry and sometimes a little flakey, just visit your doctor to check things out. One other reason you should quickly visit is if there is a major change such as dark, (or lighter), skin patches and any changes or growth to moles you may have. Get these checked out just to make sure you have no problems.

One thing to watch out for is the effect the sun has on your skin. The sun is at its fiercest when it is highest, which is generally at midday, so just take care. Applying a good sunscreen helps, and another thing to take into consideration is that elastin, which is a substance in your skin, breaks down under strong sunlight. This can cause the skin to sag so just be careful. It is a pity about the effects of sunlight on skin as most of us feel much happier when exposed to sunlight.

Rather than buy every skincare product on the market there is a lot you can do to help your skin by developing your own personal skincare program.

Healthy skin is helped by a healthy diet, and a healthy diet is usually a balanced diet containing fresh vegetables and fruit. Both of these have been found to contain antioxidants which can help your skin protect itself from day to day living. To get the best values from fruit and veg though it must be fresh or only lightly cooked.

Another important factor in skincare is skin hydration and this is helped by drinking a sensibly amount of water. I have seen it suggested that 4 to 8 cups a day is sensible but if you are drinking bottled mineral water check the chemical makeup of the water as some are high in sodium which means high salt levels. Do not fall into the trap that drinking 4 to 8 cups of coffee a day, (which is mainly water after all), is as good for you. Coffee contains plenty of caffeine which helps the body to dispose of water. I had a great idea that I would drink beer instead of coffee as that is mainly water, but drinks containing alcohol, (including wine,) do not class as water either. It does not have to be bottled water either; tap water is fine as long as it is pure and clean. Not at bedtime though as drinking late at night means your body may retain this water causing your skin to stretch a little which is not something you want to happen.

Your skin also stretches when you become overweight and after a diet, and loosing weight, you will need to exercise to tone your skin into shape again. A younger person has more flexible skin but when you are older your skin is not as flexible and it becomes harder to tone your skin after loosing weight. The answer is not to try and put on weight in the first place but that is not always easy especially as we get older. However please try to keep weight gain off your skin care program as the two do not go together.

Whatever you decide to do, do some research and find out what will work best for you. One way of doing this is to talk to people selling skincare products in stores. Although their job is to try and sell you their product, they will still give you good advice. You could ask your friends as well, as some of them may be able to guide you in the right direction. Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

Wrinkles- Stop Them And Look Young For A Longtime

A small wrinkle on the young face creates fear of aging. As we grow we get wrinkles. Most of us get wrinkles first and then rush to get costly and painful treatments done to remove them. How about preventing them? I agree that all of them cannot be probably stopped, but some can be for sure. Let me tell you how?

Wrinkles On Skin- How Do They Form?

Sleep on one side for many years and your face on that side will develop wrinkles. Can we not change our sleeping position after every few days? Do that and find out.

Smoke and you pull your muscles near the mouth. You will develop the typical wrinkles of a smoker called smoker lines soon. Stop smoking and stop that. Moreover smoking also forms more free radicals that damage the healthy collagen in the skin and make your skin sag with typical signs under the eyes, cheeks etc.

Go out in the sun and let the UV strike your face. It will damage the skin immediately. Your upper skin will become thin and the lower supporting skin will become thin. This causes more wrinkles as the support goes away from below and the skin sags. Protect yourself from sun. Wear wide brimmed hats, sunglasses and apply a sunscreen of SPF 15 regularly.

Make more gestures with your face and you will get the lines that will become permanent forever after sometime. Make less gestures and expressions with face and stop those wrinkles.

Use antioxidant creams. Use moisturizers-stop skin from drying. Eat healthy food full of Vitamins and antioxidants. Use formulations prepared for boosting collagen production as you age. Take these preventive steps in your youth and the old age may never come to show on your face. Avoid the costly and painful procedures for getting the youth.

An Overview of Enzyme Peels for Your Face

When dealing with the refurbishing of facial skin, peels are a popular option. Here is an overview of enzyme peels for your facial skin care needs.

An Overview of Enzyme Peels for Your Face

The enzyme peel is not a new technique at all. It has been performed for a long time ago but often without a deep knowledge on the matter. This is easily confirmed after an overview of those home remedies and cosmetics intended for skin care, such as papaya or green apple facemasks or lotions.

Papaya enzymes are not only good for nutrition but also to peel off epidermal cells, which aids in regenerating the skin. This property is also observed in aloe Vera, pumpkin, pineapple, and other fruits. Restorative enzyme peel is a type of exfoliating non-surgical procedure that uses natural or chemical products to produce exfoliation.

An Enzyme peel accelerates the natural exfoliate process of the skin to get rid of dead skin cells, promote young cell renewal, and visibly diminish scars, stretch marks, aging spots and lines, sun damage, and skin discoloration. Enzymes penetrate the upper layers of the tissue, cleansing pores and improving skin texture, tone, elasticity and tautness.

Although, some enzyme peels work with the aid of acids or mechanical granules, natural enzymes are the most recommended to prevent dryness or allergic reactions. In fact, some strong chemicals used for deep peeling, such as phenol, may cause cancer of the skin or side effects.

In order to obtain the most benefits from enzyme peels, whatever the product you choose or the natural home remedy, you can get the most from it by applying a thin layer to your clean and dry skin, rather than a thick coat. Enzymes work best by rubbing gently in a mild circular motion.

An Enzyme Peel produces results in the short term after begin the application, but you need to perform a routine exfoliation to see good results. Treatments with enzymes improve your skin look and feel, but do not stop aging. Furthermore, you will have to repeat a peeling treatment after a certain period of time to remove new damaged cells and keep your fresh and youthful appearance.

The isolation and identification of deoxymiroestrol from the delve of Pueraria Mirifica has just been reported in the February 2000 rise of the Journal of physical Products, The authors proposed that since deoxymiroestrol is certainly oxidized to miroestrol, deoxymiroestrol, not the previously reported miroestrol, is more likely to be the actual substance constituent of Pueraria Mirifica.

However, it is very likely that the two phytoestrogens coexist in the delve of this plant. As exposed below, the substance structures of two compounds are very similar to that of estradiol, the foremost human estrogen.

Hair Removal - All Over Your Body

Today, a male body builder is not the only person into removing hair from all over their body.

Aside from the fact that there are more and more female body builders, there are scores of everyday males and females who remove hair from all over their bodies.

Both in the media and on the street, an obvious example is how many males and females are into head shaving.

At the pool or the beach, and even on neighborhood basketball courts, it's much more common to see males with smooth and hairless chests and backs. And even a few without armpit or leg hair.

And if you think about it, males in the media advertising underwear and fitness equipment don't have any body hair. They have it removed because the current fashion in this society is for males to be hairless.

Some would say it's about time they caught up with the females ...

But the truth is - Today's males ARE more aware of and conscientious about their overall image and removing body hair is a major means of projecting the most positive image. Besides, males have been learning what females have known ever since they started removing their body hair - There are some definite benefits to doing so.

Less body hair means less body heat. Less body heat means less body odor. And we can all support that.

But, perhaps even more of a benefit is the fact that removing body hair helps to define body shape. For females in particular, this applies to their legs. For males, their chests.

That's why when body builders are getting their body ready for competition, they use some type of hair removal.

And because there is such a growing trend towards complete body hair removal these days, we look to body builders and other athletes for information about the best way to accomplish it.

But even for body builders, it hasn't always been easy to connect with the, "perfect", hair removal product or system.

Before the mid 90s, body builders relied mostly on services employing people who became their personal body shaver. These people used a wet razor to remove the hair from the body builder's entire body a few hours before a competition. Then they'd oil them down.

After the mid 90s, body builders began relying on laser hair removal treatments. But that didn't really work out so well.

Partly because the high cost of the treatments took a big chunk of their competition winnings, but mostly because their entire body couldn't be made completely hairless in one session, or even two or three. So there was the time factor.

Then there were the unsavory side effects of swelling, redness and maybe even some blistering, that often kept body builders from competitions, even if they completed the treatments well ahead of time. When people started coming up with scars - that was pretty much it.

So many body builders returned to the tried and true body shaver.

But that's not to say that many body builders haven't experimented with a variety of other alternatives to laser hair removal.

The main laser hair removal alternative methods include: electrolysis, waxing, depilatories, and the old stand by, shaving.

Electrolysis may be the only hair removal method that has been proven to be permanent, and that would seem ideal for a body builder, but -

Because electrolysis involves treating each individual hair follicle, (the skin depression from which the hair emerges), it is also the most time consuming hair removal method. It can take years of weekly or monthly sessions to completely remove all hairs in just one area. And -

Because electrolysis involves inserting a fine wire alongside the hair shaft into the hair follicle through which an electric current and/or strong chemical is sent down to destroy the growth source, (papilla), at the end of the hair, it is also quite painful, even for mighty body builders, even with the use of a topical anesthetic. And -

Electrolysis has some of the worst temporary side effects - Swelling, redness, pinpoint scabbing and skin discoloration, and worse, the possible permanent effects of skin discoloration and scarring.

Add to all of that - Electrolysis is the next most expensive method of hair removal.

So it's easy to see why electrolysis is not a viable laser hair removal alternative for body builders.

A hair removal method that isn't as expensive, can last for 3-8 weeks and would seem viable for body builders is waxing. And because waxing can be done on the entire body in one session, it would seem ideal for a body builder, but -

Waxing basically involves applying a warmed taffy like substance to the hairs in an area, then cloth strips, all of which are allowed a moment to cool and adhere to the hairs and then the strips are very quickly removed, pulling the hairs out by their roots.

Obviously, this hair removal method is pretty painful, so a topical anesthetic is recommended. But that's not the real problem.

The real problem is that while the wax is adhering to the hairs, unfortunately, it's also adhering to the skin. Which means when the cloth strips are yanked off, sometimes so is some of the skin. Understandably, this leads to some swelling, rawness and redness.

Usually, if waxing is done several days ahead of time and they stay out of direct sunlight, a body builder's skin is able to heal for competition. Usually ... There have been some complications such as infected ingrown hairs and other infections that have left scars.

Which means waxing is not the best laser hair removal alternative.

A host of body builders use the hair removal product of a depilatory to remove all of their body hair. It's an inexpensive method that can remove hair on the chest, back, underarms, hair in the bikini line area ONLY and legs quickly, easily and painlessly for a few days, but - You knew there had to be a but -

A depilatory employs strong chemicals that basically, "melt", the hairs above the skin, which can then be wiped from the skin surface.

Problem is, hair and skin are composed of similar materials so that these harsh chemicals that melt the hair can also burn the skin and cause swelling, redness, bumps, ingrown hairs and even scarring.

So using a depilatory hair removal product is still not the best laser hair removal alternative.

Which is why many a body builder is still a body shaver when it comes to inexpensive, reliable and relatively safe hair removal that, when done properly, provides smooth results.

Sure, there's only one way to receive a, "razor burn", and that's by shaving. And it's possible to get scrapes, nicks and cuts, as well as rashes, bumps and ingrown hairs from shaving, but -

These are minor side effects as compared to all other hair removal methods. And they can be covered with make up if need be. (Yes, make up is worn by body builders, when necessary.)

And shaving truly can be done on any part of a body builder's body. In fact, if it happens to be part of their overall presentation, there's really no other way a body builder can achieve a beautiful bald head than by head shaving.

These then are the hair removal experiences and results of body builders from which the everyday person can learn.

Although there is one more method of hair removal for all body shavers, including those into head shaving - It's still shaving, but with an inexpensive tool designed to easily, quickly, and most importantly, safely provide clean, close, and smooth hair removal - All over your body.

Cosmetic Surgery: An Overview

Cosmetic surgery is an increasingly common way for individuals to improve their appearance in a way that might otherwise be impossible. Cosmetic surgery is not to be mistaken with plastic surgery, though the two can be very similar. Plastic surgery is used to repair deformities, or correct appearance from after an accident or injury. Cosmetic surgery is concerned with improving the appearance of an otherwise perfectly healthy individual.

The science behind cosmetic surgery has continued to advance, and an amazing variety of different procedures are available. Botox is a popular treatment for both men and women, reducing wrinkles and tightening the muscles in the face to increase youthful appearance. This treatment became widespread in the United States during the 2004 election with John Kerry, though it is a practice among politicians, the wealthy, and movies stars.

There are several other cosmetic surgeries for the facial area, as well. Everything from a face lift, to rhinoplasty (nose job), laser eye lid surgery, lip augmentation (for those ladies looking for the gorgeous Angelina Jolie look), facial minisculpture, or the great one for middle aged men: hair transplants. Almost any facial feature can by altered or modified in a way more pleasing to the individual. The options are amazing, and information is easy to find.

Beyond the face there are all types of procedures. Sharon Osborne, wife of famous rock singer Ozzy Osborne, is very open about the multiple cosmetic surgeries she has had, and is a great example of a now common celebrity practice. For the body there is liposuction, butt lifts, breast lifts, breast augmentation, and breast reduction (which is also available for weighted men unhappy with upper body flab). There are so many procedures that can be undertaken that it can be intimidating to someone just beginning to look around.

If everything seems overwhelming, just take it one step at a time. Which trait would you most like to see changed? Lips? Stomach? Nose? Choose the one feature you would like to take care of first and meet with a cosmetic surgeon to see what your options are. With how common cosmetic surgery has become, the procedures are safe and done by professional doctors who often specialize in even just the one treatment. This is a field where there is something for everyone, but consider your options carefully. Like getting a tattoo, work may be reversed, but it may lead to more headaches than you care for. Still, if its time for a change, the options are all there at your disposal, and your happiness at an improved appearance may be a phone call away.

Lose Body Fat and Sculpt Lean Muscle with this Brief and Effective Workout

Warning: this style of workout is WAY different than anything you've ever tried before and may result in a dramatically leaner, stronger body so that your friends no longer recognize you in a matter of weeks!

Alright, I exaggerated about your friends recognizing you, but this workout is still great for busy people that always use the excuse that they don't have time to go to the gym, or even for the normal gym rat to try out for a few weeks to break out of a plateau.

Please keep an open-mind and don't worry so much about what other people think, because this is quite different and you may get some funny looks, but you'll get the last laugh with your new rock hard body! To be honest, most people are too self conscious to try something like this. If that's the case for you, then that's your loss.

Here's how it works:

Instead of doing your traditional workouts of going to the gym 3-4 times a week and doing your normal weight training and cardio routines for an hour at a shot, with this program, you will be working out for just a couple minutes at a time, several times throughout each day, 5 days/week.

The program will consist of only bodyweight exercises done for about 2-3 minutes, 6-8 times per day, throughout each day. Now obviously if you work a normal office job, you are going to have to not be shy about doing a few exercises in your office and having your cube-mates watch you. Actually, I've found that some people that have tried this have actually gotten their co-workers to join them! If you have a private office, then you don't have to worry about anybody watching you. If you work from home, or are a stay at home mom, there's no reason you can't fit these in throughout the day while at home. If you end up having a busy day with meetings and so forth, and can only fit a couple of these 2-minute workouts in, then so be it, but try to get as many done each day as you can.

If you're on a normal 9-5 office schedule, I recommend doing your 2-minute workouts every hour, on the hour, with the exception of lunch. For example, you could try 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm.

Some of the exercises that are the best to focus on are:

-bodyweight squats (and variations)

-pushups (and variations)

-forward, reverse, or walking lunges

-up & down a staircase if one is available

-floor planks (holding plank position from forearms and feet)

-floor abs exercises such as lying leg thrusts, ab bicycles, etc.

-one-legged bodyweight Romanian deadlifts

This list is not fully comprehensive, but I wanted to keep it relatively simple. If you know other good bodyweight exercises, you can add those to your routine also. If you want to keep it real simple and don't want to get down on the floor for anything, you can stick to squats, lunges, and pushups and still get great results.

The good thing about these workouts is that you do enough in 2-3 minutes to get your blood pumping, heart rate up a bit, a large portion of your body's muscles worked, and your body temperature raised. However, it's usually not enough to break a sweat in only 2 or 3 minutes, so you don't have to worry about sweating or getting smelly in the office or where ever you may be. At most, you might just get a little moist on the skin.

Here's an example routine (adjust the reps up or down based on your capabilities):

Mon/Wed/Fri
9 am - 10 pushups/15 bodyweight squats, repeat 1X for 2 sets
10 am - plank holds (hold the planks as long as you can taking short rest breaks for a total of 3 minutes)
11 am - 5 pushups/10 bodyweight squats, repeat for 4 sets
1 pm - plank holds (hold as long as possible in 3 minutes)
2 pm - 8 pushups/12 bodyweight squats, repeat for 3 sets
3 pm - plank holds (hold as long as possible in 3 minutes)
4 pm - max pushups/max bodyweight squats in one set (no repeat)

Tues/Thurs
9 am - 6 fwd lunges each leg/6 rev lunges, repeat 1X for 2 sets
10 am - one legged bw Romanian deadlifts (RDL) 6 each leg/floor abs for 20 sec, repeat 1X for 2 sets
11 am - 3 fwd lunges each leg/3 rev lunges, repeat for 4 sets
1 pm - one legged bw RDL 3 each leg/floor abs for 20 sec, repeat for 4 sets
2 pm - 5 fwd lunges each leg/5 rev lunges, repeat for 3 sets
3 pm - one legged bw RDL 10 each leg/floor abs for 30 sec (no repeat)
4 pm - max fwd lunges each leg/max rev lunges in one set (no repeat)

In order to progress on these workouts, you could either add 1 or 2 reps to each set per week, or you could progress to more difficult versions of each exercise each week (for example, close grip pushups, one leg raised pushups, squats with arms raised straight over head, etc.).

The above routines are just a couple examples of how you can use this very unique style of training. Use your creativity and come up with your own. Think about what you've accomplished with these "mini" workouts completed throughout each day... You've increased your heart rate and pumped up your muscles 6-8 different times throughout each day, burning a lot of extra calories and stimulating your metabolism. Even though each "mini" workout was a very short duration, you've accumulated lots of repetitions for almost every muscle throughout your entire body, and you didn't even have to break a sweat during any of the "mini" workouts. And there's hardly any excuse for not being able to take a 2-minute break once per hour and do a couple of exercises. Another benefit of this style of training is that now you don't have to devote any time before or after work to going to the gym because you already got your workout done little by little throughout the day. You've now got some extra free time on your hands!

Try this type of routine out for 3-4 weeks and then go back to your normal gym routines. I think you'll find that it was a great way to break out of a plateau and stimulate new results in your body. You can try mixing in a cycle of these "mini" workouts every couple of months to keep things fresh.

Keep in mind that this is only one method of training and doesn't mean that you should only stick to this method for eternity. You will hit a plateau on any given training method, so I'd recommend just rotating it into your arsenal of various training methods. And by all means, don't worry about what other people think so much...have the courage to try something a little different. In the end, you'll be the one laughing back at all of the "blubber-bellies" that are giving you funny looks while they eat their donuts!

Have Good 'Scents' About Feeling Clean All Day

Body odor, bad breath, smelly feet. At one time or another, we've all been plagued with a scent less fragrant than flowers.

Never before have personal-care products been so well-stacked against stink. And when it comes to fighting foul odor fast, natural products do the job just as well as those more dependent on chemical ingredients.

Here are some tips to protect against the most unpleasant of body odors using natural products.

* Shower power: A shower is a great pick-me-up that can make you smell and feel fabulous. Ingredients like rosemary, cucumber and peppermint will awaken the senses. Aveda's Rosemary Mint Hand and Body Wash is a gentle yet effective way to "come clean" without drying out your skin.

* K.O. the B.O.: When it comes to deodorant, look for what is left out rather than what's put in. Many deodorants contain aluminum chlorohydrate, an ingredient that is believed to clog underarm pores, and propylene glycol, which can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Try Nature's Gate Organics Fruit Blend deodorants, which combine certified organic fruit, floral and herbal extracts with baking soda to neutralize odor.

* Hair affair: Ingredients like ammonium sulfate are harsh and can strip hair of its natural oils, making it dry and brittle. Use a light and fresh shampoo like The Body Shop's Nettle Oil Balance Shampoo, which helps reduce excess oil with nettle leaf, a natural astringent. Locks end up luscious, soft and clean.

* "Scent-sible" scents: An all-day fragrance is one that's subtle, not super strong. Fragrances that center around earth-inspired ingredients are enhancing without being overbearing. For hundreds of years, Acqua di Parma has offered a cologne that balances the natural sensuality of Sicilian citrus, lavender and Bulgarian rose.

Advantages of Contact Lenses over Glasses

The functional advantages of contact lenses over glasses can be felt in areas like sports, working in humid conditions and also in occupations where glasses can be very inconvenient and may not be compatible when using equipment like special headgears. Contact lenses also offer aesthetic advantages as they do not alter the image of the person wearing it.

When contact lenses are worn correctly on the cornea of the eye, the vision is very similar to the natural vision. The objects are seen in the right size and position without any kind of distortion of the image. When glasses are worn, the distance between the glasses and the eye vary making the objects appear smaller or larger than the actual size, position etc.

Contact lenses are not altered by bodily movements, as in the case of sports or similar kind of activities. They remain stable providing stable and clear vision to the wearer. When glasses are worn, the vision is unstable while moving or running, in turn affecting the performance of the wearer.

Contact lenses provide a better and wider peripheral vision than the glasses. Contact lenses move with the movement of the eyes and the wearer always looks through the clearest part of the lens called the optic zone. When glasses are worn, it blocks the peripheral vision. When the eyes move to the sides, the sight is far from the optic center leading to distorted and blurred vision.

Contact lenses do not steam up due to body heat or perspiration. They also neither fog when exposed to cold weather nor get splattered in the rain. Glasses on the other hand fog up and the wearer cannot see completely during rain pour.

Contact lenses do not leave marks on the nose and are very comfortable to wear. No pressure is felt on the ears, temple, or nose unlike the glasses. Also glasses slide down from the nose during perspiration.

As told before, contact lenses do not alter the appearance of the person. They are boon for children who are often picked up at school for wearing glasses. Contact lenses provide both physical and psychological comfort to the wearer.

Also, after cataract operations, contact lenses provide the necessary protection more than the glasses. Contact lenses offer adequate correction when the visual acuity of the eyes are more than 2.5 diopters, which is not possible with the glasses.

How To Select Body Wash

A luxuriously scented body wash can transform a boring morning shower into a lavish treat that you will look forward to at the start of every day. Body washes can offer as deep a cleansing experience as bar soap, but with an added explosion of pleasant aroma. And, many body washes have moisturizing benefits that can help bring out the beauty of your skin. Choosing the right body wash for your skin type and applying it with the right technique can help you achieve the gorgeous skin youve always craved from head to toe.

When selecting a body wash, look for a product that has natural ingredients rather than a product that is based in chemical additives. Many chemicals promise great results, but in most cases you can gain the most benefit from products that get their moisturizing power from natural elements like shea butter, Aloe Vera, or honey; all of which have been shown to nourish skin without causing any damage. An all natural body wash is likely to be completely biodegradable, which makes it better for the environment as well as better for your body.

Remember that your body wash is something that you will be exposed to every single day, so dont choose anything that has ingredients that could prove harmful after long term use. Avoid any body wash that includes alcohol, which can be drying to skin; or silicone, which can leave behind a thin layer of residue that can clog pores. To be sure that your skin stays clear and fresh, look for body washes which specifically state that they are non-comedogenic, which means that they wont cause pimples or blemishes.

Of course, shopping for the right body wash is only one piece of the puzzle. The way that you apply your body wash is just as important as what kind of product you choose. Using a loofah or other slightly abrasive scrub brush can provide an invigorating wake up for all of your senses while helping your skin glow with health. A loofah will exfoliate your skin while you scrub, helping you buff away dingy dead skin cells while you clean and moisturize. This simple tool packs quite a punch, and incorporating a loofah into your shower routine can help you get the most out of your body wash by making sure that moisture and nutrients fully penetrate the youngest, freshest layer of skin. Using an all natural moisturizing body wash with a loofah can help your natural beauty shine through all over your body. This is especially important during the spring and summer months when you are likely to be showing a bit more skin than usual, making a body wash a part of your daily beauty routine can help you look great and feel confident.

Abdominoplasty Recovery Time

Much like Christmas presents, people want to show off their new bodies immediately after cosmetic surgery. This brings us to the issue of abdominoplasty recovery time.

Abdominoplasty Recovery Time

An abdominoplasty is a very common procedure in the field of plastic surgery. The procedure is popular because few, if any, of us can avoid a growing waist line as the years pass. Yes, we should be regularly exercising and dieting, but life has a way of getting in the way.

An abdominoplasty is designed to directly address the problem of the expanding waist. Although there are variations of the procedure, the essential idea is to remove excess fat and skin in the lower abdomen area. The surgery is very invasive in that large openings are made in the skin. The procedure takes place most often in a hospital and is performed under general anesthesia.

Abdominoplasty recovery time is a touchy subject for a very particular reason. By definition, the abdominoplasty is causing trauma to the abdominal area. This is, of course, the area of the body where you twist and bend, a fact that impacts recovery time more than most people expect.

In general, you can expect to be more or less incapacitated for up to two weeks. You will be home during this period, but expect soreness, lethargy and swelling to keep you in bed most of the time. After roughly two to four weeks, you should be able to return to work. After a month to six weeks, vigorous activity can usually be undertaken without restriction, but you should consult with your plastic surgeon regarding your specific situation.

As an aside, some people include scar healing as part of the determination of abdominoplasty recovery time. Your scar should heal fairly quickly, but it will take a much longer period of time before it smoothes out and fades. In this case, we are talking about three months of recovery time. In fact, it may take the scar up to two years to reach its final appearance.

Abdominoplasty recovery time is often a surprising subject for many patients. Your abdominal trunk is a key part of your body, so you just have to show patience.
